Top 10 things I learned from this message board in 2009:
1). That Acai berry juice would help me lose weight. I lost 15 lbs. drinking this stuff! (Unfortunately, no one mentioned that the weight loss would come by way of constant diarreah).

2). Chicks dig the long ball! (Especially the grandmas in the stands with 6" of exposed cleavage).

3). Some teams just don't take senior softball seriously enough! While our team was taking BP in the weed patch next to Costco in Turlock before our next game, our opponents were sitting in a big circle, laughing, yukkin' it up, and enjoying their favorite beverage together. They just don't get it!

4). If you post something on this board that disparages me or my co-workers, I'll sue yer ass!

5). To improve my quickness and agility, I should stand in front of my bedroom mirror, flex a few times, and move up and back - side to side as rapidly as possible! (Note: To avoid whiplash pain, please wear underwear...)

6). If pitchers need to wear protective gear, they should find another position, or retire! (Especially if I want to "buzz the tower").

7). Regarding the "best outfielders" post, I was pissed that none of my teammates submitted my name (those bastards!) They're lucky to have me. Not only am I the most gifted player on my team, I'm also the nicest guy...

8). Einstein, Dirty, and Mad Dog must be future HOF'ers!

9). We demand a bat / ball combination that will allow us to be so impressed with ourselves that we won't need to use Viagra.

10). SSUSA doesn't need to spend any time or effort trying to determine what the players want. Just ask ME, because I speak for the majority! cuz I'm...

I know spoonplugger can speak for himself but my guess is that he is pretty good fishing with spoonplugs and more specifically the Buck Perry spoonplug trolling method. I know it works for me.

Fantastic post, real deal, where have you been all year? By strange coincidence, I have learned the same things, although I also learned that if you do not reveal on this message board your real name, age, team, batting average, address, social security number, and at least one credit card number, you are a weenie, an elitist, and not worthy of response. Sadly, almost 2/3 of all posters have this defect which will clearly deteriorate the level of conversation in 2010.

The Real Deal.
Very cool but you left out
your calling card.
You don't have one.
Hey, that's number 11!
11. Some guys think that anyone gives
or should give a crap about anything
said by those
who don't/won't be respectful enough
to introduce and identify themselves
to us.

And like the absents of slickness
and wit before you
you reduce to a sad/funny footnote
of fragmentation and dysfunction
of our society,
senior softball style.
The man who almost
but never was...
Yet, it's all painfully par
for the course and
we ARE getting better
and showing signs of real
growth and development
in spite and because of ourselves.
Now, that's promising.

Where's your sense of humor?
I just added number 11 to his list

And I thought it was pretty good, too.
Funny, I mean.

About Garocket--
Anyone who would call a man a disparaging name from behind a wall or curtain where he can't be seen or held accountable is not a man and
worth any recognition or belief.
This would be a majority opinion
one held by most of the members
of the senior softball community.
We have to develop our culture
to where loud coward droppings
are unilaterally disavowed
and dismissed and I think
we're getting close.

Butch.
We couldn't disagree more
on some very important issues
but Happy New Year to you.

Larry.
The best to you, too.
See you next year.

Joe,

Yes we do disagree on some issue's. When it comes to very important issue's I don't consider softball one of those. That would be family, friends, business and etc.

Happy New Years

Einstein, I accept your apology, so we can continue to discuss issues and perspectives, right?

And I agree with you that if a poster desires anonymity (as most posters on this message board do), then they have no standing to get personal and call names.

Have a great New Year crushing the balls with a lively bat. Still a joy to watch you play.

You haven't heard me talk about
what's really going on in America and the World, 2010
and if you think we can disagree
on softball
you ain't heard nothin', yet.
Doesn't change fundamental respect
and value of us or anyone else.
We're all God's children, aren't we.
I think we got to argue/discuss/teach to find out what we most deeply believe and need and the where
the common ground is
so we can help rebuild ourselves,
our society and culture
before it's too late
and we bury ourselves ignorantly
in our own garbage, byproducts
and debris.
Senior Softball, interestingly
is a microcosm of the larger society
and many of the same problems/difficulties/solutions
are present.
At best, if we don't know
and figure out where we're going
we're gonna wind up, somewhere else.
Good balls and bats, forever.

OK.
You're OK with me and I hope to meet you/know who you are because I believe
it would be better for all of us
but suffice to say
you will have more credibility with us
if you let us know who you are
especially when you get personal
or the issue is very important
to us.
Maybe there's something
we can teach each other.
Happy New Year.

Here are my top ten
1)I find myself in almost total agreement with Dirty on his views
2)If there was ever a SSUSA players union formed I have no doubt Einstein would be the leading candidate for being head of that union
3)Most players wanted the PPR rule thrown out
4)There are things I never that are available to take to offset our nagging ailments--i.e: wintercrest cream, etc
5)Einstein means business when he says good bats and good balls. I also know this from talking to him personally!!
6)One person got my anger when they said SPA was shoving their motto of "To God be the Glory" (or something like that) down his throat. No one is shoving anything down anyones throat. People have a right to speak but not to be heard.
7)Some people take criticism personally. Unless you know them personally how can it be personal if you don't know them?
8)Results of tournaments seem to trickle in slower than we might like. Might be a communication problem
9)A good portion of the tournaments don't have very good umpires.
10)Einsteins posts are the longest posts!! Sometimes I and others may disagree but he's very passionate about the game and only wants good things.

As much as I hate to admit it Real Deal you should , man up? Who are you. Oh never mind, we will just refer to as the unnamed comic. Keep the laughs coming but don't quit your day job.stick8 good post and einstein you would get my vote for being the Jimmy Hoffa of our union and Dirty gets my vote for 2nd in command. We would need checks and balances Thanks Harry

Einstein let me clarify my #9) This is not my opinion--only what I've learned from posters on here as the thread title specifies. IMV, the majority of the umpiress that I've experienced do a nice job.
Interesting question you ask about next year. I'll be with OKI Players in 2010 and as far as I can tell we're looking pretty decent. I'm sure the competition will be strong as usual if not stronger. That's what makes it challenging!! AFAIK, Gekle Builders is done for 50 major plus. I'm not 100% certain but I think Ray is having a team but it'll be for local guys around where he lives and just for local tourneys. It was a fun ride playing for Ray and Gekle Builders but all good things come to an end.
Who is on your team for next year and what age division are you in?
Hope your holidays were good and all the best for you and yours in 2010!!
