BRICKYARD RESULTS
The Brickyard Invitational tournament was played this past weekend, May 1-2, at the Midwest Sports Complex in Indianapolis, IN. Thanks are in order to Tim Fishburn and his staff, especially the grounds crew, for keeping the ball fields playable despite overnight rains and showers during the day. They did a great job.

Thanks are also in order to Nancy Allen, tournament UIC and senior softball ambassador extraordinaire, for providing top-notch umpires and helping keep the tournament rolling despite the inclement weather. If you didn't get one of Nancy's welcoming hugs your tournament experience wasn't complete.

Steve...who won the game between...Blue Chip and Bob Cats 55/60 Silver on Sunday..??? If I heard correct...Blue Chip won...? That would NOT make the Bob Cats winning that bracket, becuz..we beat the Blue Chip on Sat, even though we lost to the Bob Cats on Sat nite...we were 4-1. Straighen me out if I don't have this correct..

JC,

The divisional winners were based on the records they compiled within their respective divisions, if there was no playoff involved. The 55/60 Silver division consisted of five teams, two 55 AA teams and three 60 AAA teams. The Chicago Classic Bobcats were 4 & 0 within that division, including a 17-15 win over the Blue Chips 55's. The Dayton Legends 55's were 3 & 1 within that division, including a 17-16 head-to-head loss to the Chicago Classic Bobcats.

Steve,is there any way this tourney could be moved one week? There are 6 Louisville,KY teams that would like to play because its so close but can not due to the KY Derby on same weekend. I'm probably beating a dead horse (lol)but thought I would ask.

titanhd - Tim Fishburn was the Tournament Director, and has been for several years ... Steve was there as a liaison to Tim and an observer from the SSUSA Home Office for SSUSA Qualifier compliance. Tim's information remains available from the Tournament page herein.

Staff, It appeared that Steve was the liaison in much the same way that we were "advisors" in Viet Nam. He changed the schedules, made the brackets, and supplied all of the information on this site. When we asked questions, it was he that answered. Respectfully.

TO Brickyard teams,

I will be happy to provide the game scores if you are interested. Please e-mail me a request and I will e-mail you the results. It will be on an excel spread sheet attachment.

Regarding the schedule, I worked on that based on the frame work provided to me by the tournament director, Tim Fishburn. Instructions were to make it a round robin event guaranteeing teams a minimum of five games apiece. There were also numerous requests for early starts, late starts and early departures. All the formal requests were honored.

The tournament entry deadline was Wednesday, April 28 and this is when the schedule was posted. Following that deadline a team dropped out, a late entry was included and a team had to be moved to a different division because of a change in their rating. This necessitated two revisions, one posted on Thursday, April 29 and another posted on Friday, April 30.

All other schedule revisions were handled at the tournament site. If the teams would like to see the tournament dates moved and / or the schedule format changed that request would need to be addressed to Tim Fishburn.

Please feel free to e-mail me directly with any questions you might have. I will do my best to answer your questions or direct you to the individual who can best answer that question.

My e-mail address is stnlsimmons@aol.com.

I enjoyed meeting all of you this past weekend,
Steve

Steve, Thanks for all of the hard work and effort you (and the grounds crew) put in. I realize that you had to work within certain constraints, I only would have liked to have seen some of them lifted and you allowed to use your own judgement in some cases. Respectfully, Mel

I would like to thank Tim, Steve, the coaches and players, and especially the grounds crew. No one else in the city was playing that weekend. It was great to see old friends and make new ones. I think that NSA provided much better umpires than in the past 2 years which always makes a tournament better.
