How many bats this year??
I thought I'd take a que from Southpaw and start a discussion on the bats we've broken and bought this year.

I've broken three so far. My 30el MM Combat (1 1/2 years old), My 30 Freak Plus (2 yrs old) and my 30el red Senior Combat (2 months old). I've been told that reason for my short life span of the red sr Combat is the MCT Rocks that we use in league and, at times, bp.
I've just bought a 30el 10" MM Combat that I won't use with the MCT balls. I'll use my 29 Freak Plus for league and bp with MCT's.
I've also bought another 30el 13" MM, used, from a board brother.
These should get me through the year!! :)

One of my teammates,
a guy with monster pop,
broke my Freak Plus in BP
last week that I've had forever.
Cardinal rule of senior bats,
Bruce,
Don't swing 'em in bp.
I've got 2 Geezers I bought this year
and I'm breaking them in little by
little as the year progresses.

About six (seniors) each year. That's in abou 180-games and, I enjoy lots of BP...my ASA bats have lasted a long, long time though.

Bruce how did you like the red Combat while you had it?

ps284, it took about 6 weeks of league games and some bp before I was confident enough to hit it in a tournament. I really like it then!!
The reason that I bought it instead of the MM was because of it's durability. Now that I've found out about the balls I'm hoping the 10" MM will be as good!

bought Miken ultra II maxload @ vegas winter worlds in nov. and had to send 3 back to be replaced within 3 months.. 30 days and less than 100 swings on them.. 2 other guys that I hit with had the same thing happen.. happy Miken stood behind their product even though it's a no warranty bat..

I have 2 worth toxics for senior ball, a 2010 resmondo for usssa ball, a blue synergy for asa ball. I NEVER swing any of them in bp. I used to use an old mizuno blur for bp but that broke so now I use an old freak unlimited. Not swinging game bats and at the risk of sounding selfish not letting anyone else swing game bats in bp makes game bats last longer. jmho

Stretch, klb is correct. After break-in the Freak Plus is near senior bat distance and much more durable. The sweetspot may be a little smaller. With a reasonable price (around $189) and a year's warrenty it's a good choice for a backup bat.

Stretch the freak unlimited is not a senior bat. It's a u-trip bat I kept from a mens team I played on a couple years ago that was sponsored by Miken. The mens team I'm on now bought us Worth bat packages so we're bound to use Worth. I kept the freak unlimited just to use in batting practice.
I did hear Worth is coming out with a Mutant Senior bat either in July or August.

I know a Freak Plus is a USSSA, NSA bat. I used one last year. Having a little humor.

I had a red Ultra 2 end load break after 20 at bats. Our team has probably broken 10 bats (mostly Ultra 2's) so far this year and we've only played 1 tournament! I'm convinced its the balls, and the fact that we take a lot of BP with older, harder balls. We've stopped doing that. Most of the guys on the team now don't use their game-bats for BP or league. We try and save them for the tournaments.
