Rockin' Reno mid tourney
Weather is fantastic, sunny and cool.
The back drop in Reno is just breathtaking for a city slicker like me
with snow capped mountains, blue skies
and clear, thin air.
Fran and Dave here being their engaging, gracious
and warm selves.
Umping is good.
Fields are fantastic, field prep
is on time, concessions well done
and friendly.
The ball/bat combo is fine
with Trump balls 44x375.
I met E4 and Desert Dave
in person and it was wonderfully
important
to recognize, hand shake and/or hug
people on the website I hadn't before.
John, E4 and I talked a little.
I could tell he's a terrific, guy,
smart, gracious and caring
and look forward to talking more with him on line.
More when the tournament's over.

Whew!
Finally made it home
from a great weekend
in Reno-Sparks, Nevada.
So many friendly and happy faces.

Thanks to the 4 other teams in our 60 major plus bracket,
Ruth, Robeson, Omen and GSF for terrific competition and sportsmanship
when playing us,
highlighted by Ron Danosky of GSF refusing to use/pitch a couple of sub par balls that found their way
into the tournament when it would have been to his team's advantage in a close fought game.
Way to go Ron, Woody and GSF.
You made us all look good.

Way to go OMEN for making it past GSF
and into the finals with an extemely
well pitched game by A/C Linde.
Way to go, A/C.

I heard nothing but reinforcement
for speaking up for senior softball players on the website and against going to a dissatisfying bat/ball combo.
Thanks again to Frannie, Dave and Terry
for an extremely satisfying and well run event.
And lastly for now.
We, MTC, played GSF as the last two winners on a field with the wind blowing out strongly to right,
a hitters field.
With 44x375 balls and senior bats
there were 3 balls hit out of the park
in a 12 to 8 game.
No one was hurt, scared, intimidated
or cheeky
or will be fooled or herded
into a movement to safer and
less ego driven equipment.
Oh yeah.
There was an injury,
a broken bone
in case anyone's interested.
It came after 2 teammates wrestled each other to the ground during a game
and one broke his collar bone.

Lively bats and balls, forever
is how we want to and deserve
to play our game.

The man who takes our sideline pictures
and action shots has become part of us.
I remember the first time I saw him on the field near the duggout during a game
and thought sharply, "What's that camera
guy doing on our field?".
Not only does he take terrific action
shots which as we get older
get more difficult to produce
but I look forward to his warm smile
and encouragement on the field.
Help me in recognizing this great
guy who's become a wonderfully vital
member of our softball community.
SSUSA, Dave,
can you help us identify this
man and his website?

Jack got a great action shot-actually 5-of a catch I made in Phoenix in 2007 and sent me the pics. He is a great guy, and I look forward to seeing him this weekend. Dave Dowell, I talked to you last year in Phoenix when we made our little run in 50AAA. Look forward to seeing you, too, along with other guys posting on this site. Now, if only the back, knee, big toe, elbow, neck, pinkie and other parts hold together.........:-)
