I just got back from bp. Probably our last chance before we play the Metro Stars :) on Friday.
We hit there rounds of 35 balls each. There were about 3 or 4 MCT's, 10 or 12 utrip distance's and the rest 44/375's.
I hit about 40 off my tee on Sunday. We had a team bat, Toxic, that needed breaking in. It took about 15 or 20 swings and then it was hot, or as hot as it could be. I wasn't impressed. Some of us took about 10 swings with it, one took all his swings with it.
I had some small cones that I set out at the infield holes and hit about half of my balls at them, the rest I just tried to hit the ball long.
For the first time I tried to "judy" the ball in for singles. I was surprised to see how easy it was. I don't know when or if I'll do that in a game.
As for running a bp session, I don't like to have too many. 3-6 is just about right.

I hit a few rounds a week in the 50 count per round but once a week hit 2 rounds of 70 balls counting off the last ten "hits" and adding another to the tally if not a clean hit so can go as high as 100 per round if you don't stay tough through to the end. As I sometimes play league that same night I on occasion will only take one round of 70 to keep the arms fresh for that night. Bruce is right 3-6 is about the right number but often just two of us go out with a screen and balls to hit. The balls I keep are a mixture of the Trump training Orange/White balls - 2 dozen Baden "Fire" balls and the rest a mixture of good 44/375 balls using the O/W balls about every 5th ball to watch carry - spin to and off the bat to make adjustments.

well it sounds good, but do you guys really swing at 50 or more balls in a row.i like to do 25 than switch off with who ever else is there, and try to get a min of 2 hopefully 3 rounds in and sometimes 4 if time permits.i also try for the gaps like you said bruce but don't have cones out there to shoot at.with the screen i can practice to all fields without worrying about drilling a pitcher,as i try to hit the ball where it is pitched, instead of trying to pull everything.

now when i do tee work its 10 at a time and switch bats,i try to do the mike macenko bat speed drill when i do tee work, light bat (24 oz),heavy(32oz metal),game weight(26oz).and repeat this till i get at least 60 swings in up to 100.also have a set of weighted batting gloves(8oz)i use.
balls that i use are everything from 40 to 47 c.o.r. balls, ones i recover from games and hr balls that teams don't go get that i collect from our local field.also scour ebay as you can get real cheap new ones there sometimes.i have found balls there for less than $25 a dz,and that's shipped.

oh bruce you'll be proud of me,i got a combat 29fl to try, gonna see if i can get used to it.

Mad Dog, I guess you wanted us to know what you do for BP so you back door with a Q as if you were looking for info, and then bam, bam. Good work, we are proud of you.

Bruce, I heard that those Metro Star boys are good especially the one that has I guess 20 or 30 national and world championships and called himself wagon??? not sure but probably is because of his speed or perhaps he needs a truck to carry all his championships around. LMBO have fun guys, See U there. Not sure if the coach will allow me to play after my comments. HAHHAHAHAH. I need a nice glass of wine.

Mad Dog, I hit like a little girl. So I do not have a lot of input. Now and then few of us get together and hit. Our session usually is 10 balls to warm up and then I hit 5 and the next hit 5 I hit 5 next hit five...until we hit around 50 balls. Then the next two do the same routine. I wish I had the time or the facilities to have more BP and perhaps I could become one of you guys. Good stuff, keep on posting. My sense of humor is very dry.

I hit with a group of roughly 13 and we each do a 2 dozen plus round and then another round. Makes for a long am.
When I go alone I use 2.5 doz and hit them out and bunch them up from out there and hit them back. I do 2-3 rounds like that, 2-3 times a week, if I can avoid doing it in the heat of the day. Sometimes the Cricket guys come and mess the plan up But sometimes I hit in their path anyway if I was there first because they take over the whole area.

Crazy Puppy: The guys who answered so far are all super human. Most guys I know will do about 2 or 3 rounds of 20 balls unless we are in a tournament then 1 round of 20. Twenty is about a ball bag full.

I like to go with the pitch and hit all fields so that in a game memory muscles take over and I go to Auto adjust in a game (go with the pitch - no thinking).

mad dog, I hit with some guys from my league team on Sundays. We hit about 25 each and do 2 or 3 rounds. I like to work on all fields during this BP. We also hit prior to league on Tuesdays. We hit about 25 each to get loose before we play. I also do T work a couple of times a week, weather permitting. I hit about 70 mixed balls - ASA balls, 47X525 old SSUSA balls and other assorted old balls. I hit 20-25 to each field and work on hitting gap shots. I'm basically a line-drive hitter, so that's what I focus on. My tournament team also hits prior to our first game each day of a tourney and only about 20 swings just to get loose.

E-Vac,
Oversize paint bucket 7 gal. Just to keep the muscles in tone. I hate going off a T, but the machines are good.

jim they must be,i feel any thing over 25 at a time makes for bad habits by getting tired.maybe 30 max.
paco i like that way(5 swings and switch) if we could have enough to do it(usually only have 2-4 guys max,it can keep you fresh as you hit.
larry i like to hit before my tourney starts at the beginning of the each day,but a lot of my teammates don't care to.they say seeding games are for warm-up.
leagues yeah right, that'll never happen LOL.i do try to get there early and maybe get picked up to play with the kids.
