TOC
OK, mad dog and taits and anybody else:,
Give me your input on this. We won the Winter World in Vegas last year in AA which qualifies us for the TOC next year, then last weekend we won the Texas State Tournament in AAA which also qualifies us for the TOC next year as well.
How do we play both when they are the same weekend ? Maybe just play AA ?
YOUR THOUGHTS.

I would say that you would have to play in the higher division. I don't know what SSUSA staff would say.

#6. I say play AAA because by the time of the 2011 TOC your team will probably be rated major. It would not look right if a major team was playing AA. If your team is rated AAA then play AA. I am wondering if the powers to be have a ruling on this and you half to play the higher classification. Thanks Harry

this is another reason TOC should be played in November and move the winters to Jan or Feb.
we get to go,but have guys who will be moving up in age and prolly picking up a couple to replace them, and that'll be done by dec at the latest.
that is why we need to do TOC before our rosters change.

#6 First of all congrats on your team success. Now IMHO if I even slightly felt that my team could compete in the AAA division ....then it is a simple decision.
Stronger competition always makes you a better team.

Either way .....you and your team enjoy your season.

#6, if you don't go as a AAA team to TOC, we will go instead. I am still waiting on the elevator shoes that you promise me in Dallas, I need to feel like I am walking on top of the world. We hope to see you guys in our league tournament(SASSL)on August 7th at Alvo Jo Fisher Sports Complex, San Antonio, TX.

The TOC should be the last event of the season in November or December. The winter nationals should be the first event of the next season played in February or March. It's backwards the way it is now and these problems will continue until it is changed.

I agree with mad dog and Jawood. Should be played in the same season with the same roster. By the time Feb. rolls around, teams have changed too much.(moved up, changed teams, been let go, etc.) Fix most of the problems related to these tournaments, invert the dates!

We would consider going to the TOC (if we qualified) if it was held in November. There is no way we would go when it is played now after not swinging a bat for 3-4 months.

jawood that is the major prol with northern teams, they have to stop in late Nov and don't get going again till maybe early March.i also think it should be moved around as south florida is out of many teams way for travel.

The TOC is been there (FL) for years maybe it's time to switch sides of the country.
I'm sure climate is a factor, but it rains on both sides. "Contracts" another problem.
Field availability is another but there are large or even larger T's on this side that have been done.
There will be something.
Nov\early Dec is better than Feb. Teams change quite a bit after the Nov worlds and having them (the Worlds) in Feb might alleviate some of the teams needing players to replace players that were originally on the qualifying \ winning teams for the TOC but no longer available.

Kenny,
Whichever you decide, you'll be playing teams from at least a division higher because they chose differently. Great season! Best wishes for the rest of the year. Mel

LP,
You need to get in touch with Dave, Terry, Fran or George. But my guess would be "no".From what I understand from Dave, you can't pick up that many players to play in the TOC. CAN YOU HELP DAVE ?
Thanks.

LP,
Think about what we talked about today. Best of luck with your new team.
I believe we can add 3-4 players for the TOC in AAA/Just a thought.
Dave, is that correct ?

The Roster Rules regarding the TOC are available here in a PDF file from ther RULES Page (click on TOURNAMENTS - RULES). What a team may do to add players for the TOC is a function of how many players they have from the original qualifying roster planning on attending. George Moreno in the SSUSA office is an excellent resource you should contact for specific answers since each team's circumstances are unique. He can be reached at (916) 326.5303.

The actual TOC Roster Considerations 'white paper' can also be accessed from:

LP,
This is what I found out for you.
"If an invited team has less than "6" players remaining from the "original" roster, that team is considered " a new team" and "is not" eligible to participate in the "2011 TOC".
Hope this helps.

#6, did you get a response from SSUSA on gong to TOC as AA or AAA? I know that you have qualified for both, if the SSUSA wanting more TOC Championship Teams to attend, I would recommend that they allow you play in 2011 TOC as AA teams, and grandfather your team in for 2012 TOC as a AAA team.

Capt Kirk,
They tell me, we have to play AAA, since we qualified for AAA in Dallas !

I WILL SAY THIS, I think a lot of Terry,Dave,Fran and George...
BUT EVERY TOURNAMENT WE PLAY IN, WE ALWAYS GET THE "SAME" RESULTS.....THE TOC SHOULD BE PLAYED IN THE SAME YEAR YOU WIN IT !!!!. I know this has been beat to death on this board, I only ask one favor from my fellow softball players,

Give me a yes or no.....do you want the TOC moved to the SAME YEAR YOU WIN IT ! I DO A LOT OF ORGANIZING FOR MY COMPANY AND SSUSA...WILL NEVER CONVINCE ME THEY CAN'T MOVE THIS. I have spoken to some of their directors, and THIS CAN BE DONE !!!!!!!!

OK, SSUSA, Let me hear why you can't do this and PLEASE DON'T MENTION MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!

this is a good example of why the TOC should be played in the same year. the makeup of the teams change going into the next year. so here it is the team i was on in 2009 won in vegas as AA, but we cant play till 2011, the team changes several players, now in 2010 the qualifiy as a AAA. so 2009 was a wasted trip to vegas as far as winning the AA division. and 4 guys off that team dont get to play at all in the TOC. i think there needs to be some more thought put into how this is all set up, for a bunch of differant reasons.

#6, For what it is worth, I say same year as you qualify. No need to win the winter worlds in tha year of 2010 and not play in the TOC until 2012. Let's come up with something better. Thanks Harry

It would seem to make more sense to have the TOC in November as the last major tournament of the year.
Although keeping players on a team isnt SSUSA's responcibility, players do move for whatever reason.

Dbax,
You are very wrong, The TOC is not played in the same year you win it. We won the Winter World in Vegas last Nov.2009 and don't play the TOC until this coming Feb. 2011. We just won the Texas State Championship in Dallas June11-12 and don't play the TOC until Feb. 2011.We won it in Vegas as a AA team and won in Dallas as a AAA team, and were playing AAA in the TOC, so how can you say it is "always" held in the same year ?

#6, I agree if you win a TOC, you should play in the same year. We won the Texas State Championship in 2009 as a 60's AA team, we played in Feb. 2010 and beat the South Florida Heat team for the championship. The South Florida Heat Team was rated as AAA team when we played them in TOC. They were re-rated to AAA in March 2009. Lot of changes can take place within a team in a year's time frame.

That is not correct, if you win to qualify in 2009, but then can't play in the TOC until 2010, IT'S NOT THE SAME YEAR!

Winning a TOC Qualifier in Nov., waiting around fifteen (15) months to play TOC, something is wrong with that. The World Championship that is played in Phoenix in Oct. is cutoff date for playing TOC in Feb of the following year, why ($)?

I lost your email address, send me an email about your tournament, we may want to put a team together just to play and want to make sure it would be ok to do so.
