Aug. 8, 2010 wazoo Men's 65 97 posts | Heartland Softball National Tournament Talked to Herb Oliver last week in regards to how many 60 majors have signed up. The Wild Bunch will only attend if theirs a minimum of five including us.The amount he's charging & to play the same teams we just did battle with in the last two nationals is not worth the cost.He mention that D.O.C. & Jimmy's Joes has shown interest in the tournament & if two more commit we will be there. Our next two tournaments will be in B'Ham for the SSUSA Southern Championship & Labor day weekend,Burlington,NC ASA National. Aug. 8, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Tom, I hear you. I was going to come with DOC but a family situation may prevent me from attending. A 3-team tournament does not really appeal to me either. I do plan to be in Birmingham with my Texas 60s team; hopefully, we will see a few more 60 Major teams there. |
Aug. 10, 2010 SAG 84 posts | Any 55 teams headed here? Kaysons Grille 55 AAA is going to be there. I think Kaysons (Southern Elite)50 Major team is going also. Hope there will be a good turnout. Steve George #19 Kaysons Grille 5 AAA |
Aug. 11, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Tom, By the way, DOC will not be in Birmingham. |
Aug. 11, 2010 Dirty Men's 50 1371 posts | The "Heartland" is now its own nation, too???? My gosh, I feel like the USA has turned into the old Soviet Union. Been split up into a bunch of "nations". |
Aug. 11, 2010 JohnBob Men's 65 256 posts | The fact that its a Thur-Sat Tourney is keeping us from going |
Aug. 11, 2010 Corky Men's 55 451 posts | Because of the lack of solid info on this tourney we have dropped it from our schedule.........Tried to find you in shelbyville dirty.......who were you playin with? corky #44 Brickyard Legends |
Aug. 11, 2010 Dirty Men's 50 1371 posts | Ohio Silverstreaks, Corky. |
Aug. 11, 2010 wazoo Men's 65 97 posts | I just heard theirs 3 major teams in the tournament Jimmy joes,Texas 60's & the Wild Bunch.Theirs no major plus 60's team in the tournament. |
Aug. 11, 2010 wazoo Men's 65 97 posts | I messed up, the three teams attending the 60's major are in the Southern Championship in B'Ham not Chattanooga,TN. |
Aug. 11, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Wazoo, It now appears Jim & Joes is not going to Chattanooga per JohnBob's comment, above. How about you guys (Wild Bunch)? My friends on DOC Softball are supposed to be going but if there is no one in the 60 Majors, they may have to reconsider. |
Aug. 11, 2010 wazoo Men's 65 97 posts | DoubleL10 tell D.O.C. to make it a foursome in B'Ham since the Heartland Nationals is having problems drawing Major teams.I told Hennesey today that the Wild Bunch already has a invite to the TOC & that we would forfeit the rights to the second place team if we were fortunate to win the tournament. He mention that since theirs no Major Plus teams we could enter as a Major Plus & would win the tournament by defalt. We then would be allowed to play the Major teams & if we win this would allow a playoff for the remaining Major teams for the Championship.I don't know if I explain it right but since we will be force to play Major Plus next year & already won a invitation to the TOC its a moot point.I haven't discussed this with my players but their shouldn't be a problem,we just want to play competive softball. Tom Wasmer Wild Bunch Coach |
Aug. 12, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Tom, Is the Wild Bunch going to Chattanooga? I know some of the DOC guys have already booked flights to Chattanooga, so it would be difficult to drop that tourney and go to Birmingham instead. |
Aug. 12, 2010 wazoo Men's 65 97 posts | DoubleL10,As I mention on a earlier post, only if four other teams show up.Herb should of lowered the cost since the Heartland association is new in the softball world, that would of help him on attendance for his first tournament. We have already played D.O.C. four times in the last month while attending the SPA & ISA Nationals. To pay $575.00 & only one other team shows up in your division,I don't see it happening. Tom |
Aug. 13, 2010 DRob 34 posts | The die is cast. Indy 60s/Job Central (60 AAA) is going to Chattanooga. Sure hope there's somebody in our age/class to play. I'd like to see this thing get off the ground but I understand the hesitance. If everybody is going to sit back and wait to see who else is going it won't be much. If you're going, speak up. |
Aug. 13, 2010 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | DRob (or should I say Julius?) Well spake. I'm interested in how a Thurs-Fri-Sat tournament draws. Hope to see some new teams there. |
Aug. 14, 2010 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I just heard tonight that Southern Elite/Kayson's Grille won't be in Chattanooga. Anyone need a player? I can play 50, 55 or 60 Major or Major Plus. I live in Georgia, duh! |
Aug. 15, 2010 Lefty Men's 75 721 posts | Sorry to hear that you guys aren't going to be in Chattanooga. Are ya'll planning on going to Birmingham. I was hoping to see Team P in Birmingham but I guess I want see them again until the Winter Nationals in Pensacola. Good luck on finding a team. |
Aug. 15, 2010 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Lefty, really don't know what the rest of the year's schedule will be. Maybe Ft Myers, Va Beach and/or Myrtle Beach. We'll see. My 60 team will be in Vegas on Labor Day weekend. |
Aug. 15, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Bruce, We'll see you in Vegas; our Texas 60s bunch will be trying the 60 Majors again. We've lost Goose to Hendricks, so we will not be as strong. |
Aug. 15, 2010 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Goose is a big loss. I'm sure Hendricks has a translator for him! ha ha! |
Aug. 16, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | what chu talking bout bruce, goose is easy to understand, just go watch the justin p wilson cooking show and it will be easy.:):) |
Aug. 17, 2010 turn2 489 posts | Larry, What position does Goose play and his name? We just played them in Manassas. Donnie |
Aug. 17, 2010 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | donnie goose was in dallas for the Southwest spa's champs, this past weekend, with team texas. he plays the outfield and a pretty big guy,and of course speaks Cajun. LOL |
Aug. 17, 2010 butch17 Men's 55 412 posts | Donnie, He is an outfielder and I think he played the assistant coach in the movie "Waterboy". Just kidding Goose. Butch |
Aug. 18, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | Goose does play outfield - usually left field for us (Texas 60s). His name is Curtis Chiasson and he is a very good player. He played with Hendricks in Gallatin and will, I believe, be with them in Vegas. He was not in Manassas with them last weekend. |
Aug. 18, 2010 turn2 489 posts | Larry, Thanks for the info. I just wanted to see if he was in Manassas. They had some really good players. They are not going to Vegas. Donnie |

Aug. 23, 2010 DoubleL10 Men's 70 907 posts | I checked both the SSUSA and SPA ratings for the teams above as shown; I couldn't find any of them. Are they all supposed to be Major? |
Aug. 23, 2010 rabbit Men's 70 319 posts | you can almost bet since the rosters are open, there fore the teams will be unknown with new names to hide who they really are. so the teams will be loaded, with players from everywhere. I might be wrong, but I don't think so, Rabbit |
Aug. 24, 2010 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Indy 60's are listed as Job Central/Indy 60's since we were fortunate enough to secure a sponsor. We're going to be a little short, but are willing to try this one out. I'm still trying to find out how to get a tournament schedule. |
Aug. 24, 2010 rabbit Men's 70 319 posts | Hi Mel, we play at 10 am , 1pm and 4 pm, see you down there,I cant make tonight's game, have to run the concession stand at football game tonight for my High school Girls fast pitch team, it is our turn to work, Rabbit |
Aug. 24, 2010 blaster7 Men's 60 3 posts | Hey Mel, I couldn't fine the schedule either, our coach notified us about our first games. He didn't know much else besides that info that I posted. It looks like I won't be able to make this on myself. Go easy on us, we'll be short. Good Luck! |
Aug. 24, 2010 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Mike, My step father passed away a few hours ago and I won't be able to make it either. Rabbit, I hope to see you at the leagues next week. Do your best and I look forward to next time. Mel |
