Heartland Softball National Tournament
Talked to Herb Oliver last week in regards to how many 60 majors have signed up. The Wild Bunch will only attend if theirs a minimum of five including us.The amount he's charging & to play the same teams we just did battle with in the last two nationals is not worth the cost.He mention that D.O.C. & Jimmy's Joes has shown interest in the tournament & if two more commit we will be there. Our next two tournaments will be in B'Ham for the SSUSA Southern Championship & Labor day weekend,Burlington,NC ASA National.

Tom, I hear you. I was going to come with DOC but a family situation may prevent me from attending. A 3-team tournament does not really appeal to me either.

I do plan to be in Birmingham with my Texas 60s team; hopefully, we will see a few more 60 Major teams there.

Any 55 teams headed here? Kaysons Grille 55 AAA is going to be there. I think Kaysons (Southern Elite)50 Major team is going also. Hope there will be a good turnout.

The "Heartland" is now its own nation, too????

My gosh, I feel like the USA has turned into the old Soviet Union. Been split up into a bunch of "nations".

I messed up, the three teams attending the 60's major are in the Southern Championship in B'Ham not Chattanooga,TN.

Wazoo, It now appears Jim & Joes is not going to Chattanooga per JohnBob's comment, above. How about you guys (Wild Bunch)? My friends on DOC Softball are supposed to be going but if there is no one in the 60 Majors, they may have to reconsider.

DoubleL10 tell D.O.C. to make it a foursome in B'Ham since the Heartland Nationals is having problems drawing Major teams.I told Hennesey today that the Wild Bunch already has a invite to the TOC & that we would forfeit the rights to the second place team if we were fortunate to win the tournament. He mention that since theirs no Major Plus teams we could enter as a Major Plus & would win the tournament by defalt. We then would be allowed to play the Major teams & if we win this would allow a playoff for the remaining Major teams for the Championship.I don't know if I explain it right but since we will be force to play Major Plus next year & already won a invitation to the TOC its a moot point.I haven't discussed this with my players but their shouldn't be a problem,we just want to play competive softball.

Tom, Is the Wild Bunch going to Chattanooga? I know some of the DOC guys have already booked flights to Chattanooga, so it would be difficult to drop that tourney and go to Birmingham instead.

DoubleL10,As I mention on a earlier post, only if four other teams show up.Herb should of lowered the cost since the Heartland association is new in the softball world, that would of help him on attendance for his first tournament. We have already played D.O.C. four times in the last month while attending the SPA & ISA Nationals. To pay $575.00 & only one other team shows up in your division,I don't see it happening.

The die is cast. Indy 60s/Job Central (60 AAA) is going to Chattanooga. Sure hope there's somebody in our age/class to play. I'd like to see this thing get off the ground but I understand the hesitance. If everybody is going to sit back and wait to see who else is going it won't be much. If you're going, speak up.

I just heard tonight that Southern Elite/Kayson's Grille won't be in Chattanooga. Anyone need a player? I can play 50, 55 or 60 Major or Major Plus.
I live in Georgia, duh!

Lefty, really don't know what the rest of the year's schedule will be. Maybe Ft Myers, Va Beach and/or Myrtle Beach.
We'll see.
My 60 team will be in Vegas on Labor Day weekend.

Bruce, We'll see you in Vegas; our Texas 60s bunch will be trying the 60 Majors again. We've lost Goose to Hendricks, so we will not be as strong.

Goose does play outfield - usually left field for us (Texas 60s). His name is Curtis Chiasson and he is a very good player. He played with Hendricks in Gallatin and will, I believe, be with them in Vegas. He was not in Manassas with them last weekend.

I checked both the SSUSA and SPA ratings for the teams above as shown; I couldn't find any of them. Are they all supposed to be Major?

you can almost bet since the rosters are open, there fore the teams will be unknown with new names to hide who they really are. so the teams will be loaded, with players from everywhere.

I might be wrong, but I don't think so, Rabbit

Indy 60's are listed as Job Central/Indy 60's since we were fortunate enough to secure a sponsor. We're going to be a little short, but are willing to try this one out. I'm still trying to find out how to get a tournament schedule.

Hey Mel,
I couldn't fine the schedule either, our coach notified us about our first games. He didn't know much else besides that info that I posted. It looks like I won't be able to make this on myself. Go easy on us, we'll be short. Good Luck!
