time to bring the boys back
What devastation in New Orleans and the surrounding area and where was the manpower and resources to respond immediately to avoid unnecessay American suffering and death?
In Iraq.
And for what?
More lies, ignorance, corruption and greed?
Haven't we had enough?
Let's bring our boys and girls home now.

AMEN BROTHER!!! I am afraid to say that the worst is still yet to come. The levee of the American economy has been breached, look who has suffered most, the poor and elderly, young and old.Consumer products are going to sky rocket due to the cost of transportation, that means as winter approaches for many of us around the country that the elderly are going to be faced with paying there heating bills or there medicine or food, they will not be able to do all three, and if it is a brutual winter, they will suffer needlessly. When Rome burned comes to mind, unfortunately our wonderful country is falling apart from the inside now as did Rome,in part because the levee's in NO were never fortified to withstand anything mother nature could throw at it,it was an accident waiting to happen, and I live in a hurricane area,we're only half way in to the season. The eye never hit NO,Mississippi is worse. My prayers go out to all the victims, and the volunteers that are brave enought to give of there time and efforts to comfort our fellow citizens, our country is all about the people,it always has been and not about our government we will overcome in due time.......

Hoover,
All of us are being let down and betrayed by important decisions of our current leadership.
I want to support and believe in our representatives, too and
that loyalty is
essentially
a good thing but
the evidence is overwhelming
in so many ways
that terrible mistakes have been and continue to be made
in our name
with horrific conseqences
for ourselves and
the rest of the world.

It's time to give up all our petty differences and unite,
like T-REX says,
as a people and get rid of these horrible policies and
policy makers as soon as possible.

Let's stand up for what's right and true before it's too late.

And let's bring our valiant
boys and girls
back home where they belong,
now.

I agree with you Bruce. This is not the venue for our views on what is or is not happening in this great? country of ours. I love it and have fought for it and am proud to be able to play softball any night of the week that I want because of it. Now, about that church you go to. Just kidding. Let's play ball.

If you can't say something positive about our troops, I respectfully suggest we keep this site only about softball.
Thanks.

I've read numerous entries
on this site urging all to be reverent and supportive of our nations policies irrespecitve of their moral character or consequences and wasn't offended by them.
Why would you or anyone move to strike mine?
Are only some views about what is patriotic, moral and reverent
considered acceptable?
Is that open, sportsmanlike or American?

DoublePlay, if this site or forum is for Softball only then so be it. But till that is established, I read the posts above and could find not one negative remark towards our troops.
I for one am sick and tired of that trump card being played by Bush backers. Just because an American is not happy with our Governments policies it does not mean that that person is in any way against our fighting forces. So please do not go there.

America is a great country where all are free to express their opinion and point of view. So I will express my opinion,
"War is an ugly thinig but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic fellings, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important that is own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertion of better men than himself."
Remember that the Armed Forces are volunteers, they choose to be warriors and provide the security that is so necessary in a truly free nation.

I feel that everyone has a right to their opinion, that is what makes America so great. I do not have the answers, I just pray like the rest of you for our troops that are serving our country. One stance that I have always had: we should not give foreign aide to those who do not stand with us. How many times have we given aide just to have the populace of that country ridicule America. Aide is our expression of our love for the human race, but when people are accepting Foreign Welfare without ANY gratitude from us, then it prohibits them from expanding their minds to find a solution. It is proven that a dormant mind will cause a person to turn to waste; will cause low self-esteem; but when our mind is challenged & we realize that we are one of God's children, then we see ourselve's with purpose. Our country needs to go back to the roots of the parents or guardian's teaching our children respect for God & everyone; class & dignity; having strong families; having the inner strength that God put me on this earth to make a difference; that education is an avenue to better ourselve's & the world. We all are examples, whether good or bad, someone is taking notes. They want to be or not be like us. I think that most Americans are in shock & tears at what is going on in the Gulf States & are lending their support. I hear the news about mother nature; but I will make a bold statement: God is trying to tell us something, what is it? Where do we go from here? Before 9/11: you could drive for miles & NEVER see God Bless America. After 9/11, when we saw how vulnerable we were & we also saw how great we were by coming to the aide of our fellowman; you could not travel 1000' in a business area w/o seeing those awesome words. Six months later: NO SIGNS. Personal opinion: God does not want us some of the time, but all of the time. I do not make friends in Senior Softball for some of the time, I want to make friends for the rest of my days. We all have our opinions & I enjoy reading them; I personally am looking at the man in the mirror & asking myself: what have you done or what can you do to preserve your family, city, county, country & world???

"provide the security that is so necessary in a truly free nation."
Sure but what does launching a preemptive strike and war against a sovereign nation that wasn't capable of defending itself much less hurting America based on lies and ignorance have to do with our national security.
Remember, to question, even to rebel,
as our Revolutionary forebearers did
in the face of tryanny and greed,
is specifically patriotic and American.
And it's time for moral indignation and truth to ring America free of our greedy and corrupt shackles.
Cheney and Haliburton?
Come on.

It was said that real patriots are willing to fight for what is right.
I agree.
I am and I pray it never comes to that.

einstein: Thanks for starting this post. It's refreshing to see some speaking their mind about something that seems to be so politically incorrect these days. God forbid that someone say anything negative about this administration or the senseless war in Iraq for fear of being branded as "unpatriotic" or "against the troops" or "liberal" or "unchristian".
As long as we are talking about God, do any of you have any idea how many people on this planet have been killed in religious wars or "in the name of god"? The best guess estimate is about 809 million. So, pardon me if I take a small step back when someone starts wearing their religion on their sleeve. Just something to think about and no offense intended to anyone with strong religious beliefs. Please check out this link if you want an outline of religious wars.

Gary; Einstein, Fred: I know there are many complications in our Gov't; but I look at the downfall of the original gov't that was set up on this earth. Whether you believe in God or evolution, the 1st gov't set up on this earth was the man & his wife, who in turn directed their offspring. Sure all these problems exist world wide, but to help stop any future problems, the parents have got to take back their governing responsibility that was given them when they produced an offspring. How many children have no clue whom is their father? How many children are not taught that God (or nature, according to how you believe) gave them the mental capacity to become anything that they desire. My first job is not to America, but to be the proper husband & father to my children & to be an example to the rest of my community. The break down of any nation starts with the fall of the family. We have to make the family stronger to renovate our lost & dangerous communities. If we continually see the world problem & do not attempt to correct the family, city, & county problems, then we will still have the same difficulties. Disrespect, immorality & selfishness (my four & no more) is the downfall of any nation. 40 years ago, you never heard of a 10-13 year old child commiting murder; why is it happening today? Do we blame society or the family gov't that has not instilled into our youth that everyone has a vital place on our planet & that taking a life is the most insane thing that a person can do. Here again; I am all for catching the Osama's; casting our vote & making our gov't much better, but it will not change nationally if we do not change it at the family gov't first. By the way: I enjoy reading your insights; thanks for letting me share with you & thanks again for this message board.

Tater-in-G,
Sharing truth and what ione believes are essential to learning what can be and what is really going on.

I'm inspired by your concern,
love and humanity.
But your faith in the people who represent us Repubs and Dems alike, is not supported by the evidence.
I studied the Bible as a youngster.
When did Jesus say it was OK to take murder preemptively, in fear?
Did I miss something?
We launched a preemptive strike against a sovereign, virtually defenseless nation and have caused the violent death of 100's of thousands of people with no relief in sight.
Would Jesus say that is the way to his father, through him?
Think about it.
Thinking and listening for the truth will get us all home before it's too late.
Lastly, for now,
here's your quote;
"Do we blame society or the family gov't that has not instilled into our youth that everyone has a vital place on our planet & that taking a life is the most insane thing that a person can do."
Example is everything to youngsters as we both know.
If life is so sacred,
why did we lie to start an unnecessary war in Iraq AND
what can you say about the character of men who would do such a thing.
Christians, who follow the teachings of Christ?

Einstein: I cannot determine what is in the hearts of our officials; I can only vote & hope that others will vote in the right man who loves everyone. I can submit to my congressman what I think is going wrong & expound my discontent just as you are doing to try to get them to change Congress & laws in many areas, but in the mean time; I will try to get the message out to all that I can, that the family gov't has got to be restored. That every person was born With A Purpose. I put out a newsletter that is FREE of charge; I will never ask for money or give your name to anyone else; it is just a way for me to testify of the convictions that I have. If anyone would like to subscribe eeeeeeeeeme @ Allworld84@aol.com.

Thanks Tater
Keep it up guys; I pick up very good info from what we are discussing; that is what makes America Strong. Free Speech.

I really am enjoying this thread a lot more than the incessant debate on bat standards. Without taking sides, I would just like to point out that the vast majority of religious wars are not fought over religion.
The fighting in Northern Ireland is over politics, not dogma. The Armenian Christians were part of the Ottoman Empire for many years. It wasn't until they started getting recruited by Russia that the Turks slaughtered them.
Politicians are quick to declare that God is on our side. I believe that if God really was a caring parent, he would have sent us to our rooms a long time ago.

Interesting to see such a controversial subject being discussed by a bunch of old softball players. Let me chime in my two cents. Let's put us all on the same page by saying we are all Americans, softball players and supporters of our Troops. Half full, half empty, your team calls him out my team says he is safe. Where does all our information come from to develop our opinions. Each of us has his favorite TV channel with its talking heads. Republicans blame the Liberal Democrates for all the nations ills. The Democrates say it is the Republican Right Wings fault. Don't you realize it is all just propaganda trying to exploit and influence someones cause.? Listen to Fox News on a certain subject then switch over to CNN for their spin on the same subject. How can all these know it alls have such differing views?
We have maybe 40 thousand troops in the Gulf Coast now helping Americans. We have some 135 thousand Troops in Iraqi helping them. Our recruiting numbers for the military have decreased since the war started. Why is that? God help us if another disaster hits. We don't have any troops left to deploy. Do we really think that this war isn't about OIL? The middle east has been the focus of the universe since Jesus walked. The Bible talks about the middle east. Whats up with that? Are we safer now that Sadaam is gone? What ever happened to the guy that hit us, Osamin? I am a Vietnam Vet and my son is now in the Army waiting to be deployed to Iraq next month. I love and support my son, but hate and disagree with this war. Remember the old adage, "if their lips are moving they are lying"?. Welcome to politics...
