Nov. 13, 2010 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Important for emphasis... Let's make it perfectly clear. Senior 1.21 bats and minimum 44x375 balls are and have been the norm all year in senior ball and led to a record for participation for SSUSA in Phoenix this year. That is game, set and match for what seniors like and want to play. Let me say it again because it feels so good. Game, set and match. If SSUSA hadn't guaranteed over a year ago that these standards would govern play there might have been half the teams attending. Anyone who doesn't get this doesn't get us, the ball playing community for whatever reasons or agendas they might have meaning they don't want to get it because of their own SH-stuff gets in the way. Folks that don't know us, love us or play our game are wittingly and unwittingly involved in a movement to dumb down the game we love into something we won't. It's that freakin' simple. |

Nov. 14, 2010 outfielder Men's 65 59 posts | Hey, come on guys, this is supposed to be a site for senior softball not for bashing one another, I believe most of us who look at this site would agree, ya'll should sit back and be an observer and just see what ya'll sound like, maybe take your personal differences to something like facebook or the equivilant. |
Nov. 15, 2010 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | einstein assures us that because SSUSA guaranteed the 1.21 bats and 44x375 balls this year, they had a record attendance in Phoenix. In fact, he states that without that guarantee, they would only have half the teams. Let’s see if that is true. Phoenix TOC in 2007 326 teams Phoenix TOC in 2008 318 teams Phoenix TOC in 2009 315 teams Phoenix TOC in 2010 329 teams 2007 had NO GUARANTEES of lively bat/ball combo. It had 326 teams. This year had einstein’s praised guarantee. Result? Less than a 1% increase!! Not 100% as einstein claims. After 2007 came two years of a bad economy, but Phoenix still had more that 314 teams. Even if we compare this year’s attendance WITH THE GUARANTEE, to last year’s, we see a puny 4% increase! In other words, once again, facts don’t lie. einstein’s theory is baloney. Only three more teams came this year than the previous high. What a turnout in support of lively balls and bats! einstein’s claim of endorsement of lively bats and balls by this year’s “huge” turnout is spurious, invalid, wrong. ‘Nuf said? |
Nov. 15, 2010 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | We've been using minimum, 44x375 balls in all SSUSA events for a while now and before that it was 47 or 44 x 525 balls. Before all the "movement" to dumb down our game, TD's didn't have to guarantee the balls because the high caliber of balls WAS A GIVEN. What an amalgam of intellectual fluff and as usual completely off the mark. When seniors know the bat/ball combo is going to be good enough to have fun they invest. That's what SSUSA, SPA, NCSSA and LVSSA have learned and all demonstrate. Game, set and match. Let me say it again because it feels so good. Game, set and match. Look up at the lead post on this thread. It is indisputable and true. Check with SSUSA or NCSSA or LVSSA or SPA if you have any doubt. |
