If any 50 major or AAA needs a player, please let me know. I usually play SS or 2nd but can also play the OF. Hit for high average with ocassional solos (LMBO). I know of a AAA team out MD that I can be a perfect fit for and a team from NC that could use a right handed bat to go with all their 11 lefties...just having fun guys. Good luck to all. Wagon487 this is Paco13 do you copy over. Pat I am glad to see that you guys are back together with the few additions I believe that you will have a monster team. You and John are two of a kind (good kind). Just do me a favor keep some of the subtle negative comments to a minimun...and you will see how easy becomes for everybody. The OF is tight now with Dana, you, Buzz and probably Tony. The IF not sure who is on 3rd or 2nd but Billy on SS and Geoff and Baer in 1st is a good start . I am pretty much done with senior ball, last year going up and down 95 took a toll on me. Next year I am playing C locally with the flat bellys on a 5 men IF I play the middle and some SS and 2nd. However, if at anytime you guys are short and need a player for a tourney keep me in mind. Good luck. Paco13 out.

DoubleL10-sunny Florida is freezing right down to Miami again, and meteorological bloggers are saying they don't expect the pattern to change very quickly, which means we could face another cold TOC. A little background on how unusual this is, Orlando had not recorded a single freezing temperature since the 80's until 2009. Mad Dog, TOC games are played at several venues across Polk County. There are 2-3 in Lakeland, one in Auburndale, and one in Winterdale, I believe. There are places to stay within 20 minutes of any complex but that's only if you know where you are going to play. You could also wind up driving up to an hour if for example you stay in Winterhaven area and wind up playing in Lakeland, or vice versa. Another consideration is whether or not you are participating in the pre-tourney activities which are fun (if it isn't 40 below like last year!). So bottom line, good luck with your lodging. I had no problem last year because I KNEW where I was playing. Worse case scenario, if you stay somewhere in Polk Cty you should have a drive between 20-60 minutes. Can't speak of the Kissimminee area.

Don't stay in Kissemmee, if you play in Lakeland you will be well over an hour from the fields

The nicest place to stay is in Lakeland at the Hyatt Place beside the lakeland Center
Only about 10 minutes from the fields in Lakeland and no more than 25 minutes away from the remainder of he Fields

I would say a little pricee but well worth the extra cash

5 minutes from a huge shopping center and about 2 minutes from Polk Parkway
hit it and be in Winterhaven or Auburdale in 15 Minutes

Andy, The NV Force is having the same problem. We are really struggling getting enough people to go. Sorry I missed the previous discussion about this. Why not have an end of the year TOC in late Oct. / early Nov. in a warm weather state, and continue the "long term contract with the people in Florida" by calling it the season's "Opening Weekend" tournament? Might actually draw more tournament champions for the year's finale. I know - too much change...

Real Deal- Late Oct and Early Nov. would be way too close to the Phoenix Tourney which is the biggest tourney they hold (329 teams). The Winter Worlds in Vegas and Ft. Meyers have also been extremely successful in drawing teams. With the TOC being a selective tourney, meaning only 220 or so teams are even eligible, that means there will only be a limited number of teams that actually make it. Putting it in Florida in February is the only place it really fits to keep a successful program going. Spring Worlds starts in late March and early April and is also successful. Would you really want Winter Worlds and Winter Nationals, and the Spring Worlds one month apart?
Planning is already done-as it has to be done several years ahead to secure the venues-into 2014 and 2015. If you have ideas to change it after that, I'm absolutely sure that Dave Dowell and the whole committee would be glad to discuss it with you. In Tucson, I really got the message that they want the best for Senior Softball. If you come up with a good idea, put it on paper and discuss it.

as for the TOC,seems much better to have it maybe the last week in nov,or first week in dec, personally i think they should swap with the winters with the TOC,maybe have the winters last week of jan-first week of feb, than the springs could be in late march.

LP--the fields wont be posted till after Christmas. we are playing in the 60AAs also. we have our hotel.its in north lakeland. if you click onto lakeland hotels.com, you can find hotels that are close to most complexes. click on "tournaments" at the top of this page and go to TOC tournament and you will find the map of all the complexes they use. who do you play with? we r the spring-ford team. good luck, ken

Birdie/Andy,
Sad to see that your teams will not be going to the TOC. We Master Collision were looking forward to playing both of you again. I agree with everyone else that this tournament should be in November at the latest; qualifing teams are still together and playing at a high level. I thought that was what this tournament was all about. It should not consist of partial teams getting to pick up other players just to have enough to play, it is supposed to be only players that were on the qualified roster at the time they won a tournament. When i saw the teams that were coming i was really excited, now i'm not sure if the teams that show up will be the same guys we played against during the summer. This would all go away if the tournament was in November. Anyway, i'm looking forward to getting out of this cold weather (hope Florida is warmer)in acouple of months and playing softball again against whoever decides to show up and have some fun.

well hope to see some of ya's there.

kbl we have 6 of the original group and picking up 6 new players, that is why the teams that win in say 2009 like we did should play the following feb. instead of waiting over a year to play, then you would have the team that qualified be there instead of a replacement team.

A perfect example of how dollars and cents rules the roost. If you have to add more than 1-2 players from your original qualifying team, then you should not be allowed to participate as a TOC team. No exceptions, period!!!!

It does get confusing, we won 60AAA in Ft. Myers in Nov of 2010. However we don't get to go to TOC until Feb. 2012. Who knows how many from the original roster will still be with the team.

What if you don't play with the team the next year. Are you still on the roster and eligible for the 2012 TOC? How many players can you pick up? Who can you pick up?

Duke,
I agree with you, if you didn't play and "help your team qualify" to go to the TOC, then you should not be able to go.If this is the case, teams could qualify, let some players go and pick up a better team. Dance with who brought you !

Ken, I would think that he could. If both teams qualified then they should both be able to go.

We thought about picking some players up to get us to 12 but I am pretty sure the coach decided that it was not the right thing to do. It could have been to much trouble finding the right people. Jose, We won in Nov and qualified for 2012. We cannot make 2011 how are we going to make 2012? Thanks Harry #20 NV Force

kbl,
That's my thougts exactly...... it is all on the up and up, but just doesn't look good on paper !
One of the teams is not even an "approved sponsor team" to go play any tournaments, much less the TOC without written approval from the President of the company.

I know its all about the money to the powers that be but they really need to look at the rosters of teams in the TOC. If a team is coming with players they did not use when they qualified then maybe they should bump them up a division. Is it really fair to teams that do bring the correct roster to play against teams that may all of a sudden be an ALL STAR team. I will play against whomever shows up but it looks like others feel as i do based on the comments on this thread.

harry and kenny, i can sorta agree "on the up and up", but now there could be 6 new guys coming that we didnt play against last year. i really am not complaining. just my 2c. 6 new guys coming and didnt qualify. (IMO) we are going no matter if it "SNOWS" again. i have 2 guys i hooked up with to drive, if necessary. thanks, ken

John, I agree with you about the adding players. I have not looked it up in the rules but I would hope that you could only add players from the same division AA,AAA etc.Allowing a AAA player to play AA does not seem fair.
Ken, That is what most of our guys did last year. I got the last southwest flight out of Dulles on Tuesday. I am pretty sure that the rest of our guys drove down. All flights were cancelled Wed. and Thurs.and that was the only way we got to play. Good luck to your teams. Thanks Harry

goforit,

I like the idea of playing up one division, but if you are adding 6 players, then that is way off the mark as the team that got you there, and the added players could be too good, even if moved up a division. It's not a big deal to not go, but go with your team or not at all. Also, if you qualified with 13 of your regularly rostered players, and your roster all year had 15-16 players, but all could not go to every tournament, then I have no problem with bringing anyone from your regularly rostered team that played all season.

Just My Opinions!

andy, that is one thing i don't like about the roster rule, sometimes it is real hard to get all at the same tourney so they can qual.i like your idea of "if your playing most of the year they get to play at worlds and etc".when i moved from San Diego to lemoore i had to run down to menifee to play a tourney so i could qual with stone age,and we had to make sure all our other guys showed b/c it was the only one i could get to before worlds.

maybe make it if ya play at least 3 tourney's you auto qual with your team.

Bob,

SSUSA is very good about letting teams play with guys that have been playing with your team the entire year, as long as they signed in at some other qualifying tournaments. The amount of tournaments depends on how many you played that season and up to SSUSA's discretion. I had to do that for one player on my previous team, where everyone attended a particular qualifier except one player, and he played all the other qualifiers, so it was approved. For example: For The Phoenix Worlds, just pick your qualifying roster that had the highest amount of your regulars. If one or 2 guys could not make that tournament, then just call up to George to get approval and a confirmation through an email for the other 1-2 players. This is not a big deal.

Someway and Somehow how the TOC sb the last scheduled tournament in the same calendar year. It would require some changes to our current tournament scheduling routine.
DEC-TOC
Nov- World Championship
Oct- Winter Nationals?
Oct- Winter World?
Also, I was reviewing the 2011 tournament schedule, and the Baytown and Boerne SSUSA Qualifiers were not called out.

Made a statement durung the SPA national in Dalton that if we could get it together and win that title that I would coach the team(Robert had desided to coach a 65 team in 2011) the following year if we had a team. One Tittle and it looks like we have 12 returners who want to stay together and a couple new folks, so a committ is a committ. Had fun playing with you guys and hope there will be other opportunites to do it again. Have a great holiday.
