What happened to Einstein? Some of his posts were off the wall but he sometimes was very interesting.

logan-if you were not on here the last couple of weeks that einstein and garyc were on, it became a vicious personal, racial, vitriolic exchange between them. The whole board breathed a sigh of relief when they were gone and I have seen a lot of guys start posting that rarely did before. BIG BROTHER was right!

Even if he was right it's not good to have one.Went back and read the posts it was Einstein and Gary C attacking each other I don't condone what they were saying but we are grown ups if you don't like what they said don't read there posts.
They both had strong opinions and they did go overboard sometimes but some of the posts were funny and they had some good ideas. I would put up with the crap to hear good ideas and laugh a little. Don't you think this country is anal with political correctness?

logan, you didn't see all of the posts if you went back in the archives. As Webbie says, some were pretty wild and beyond normal lively discourse. These posts resulted in entire threads being dumped, including all of the offensive posts. This was irritating at times because sometimes their spat spilled over onto what was otherwise an informative, interesting thread that was then deleted along with all the other posts.

Come on guys like I said "DON'T READ THEM" I guess this site is better when guys are talking about there Grand kids and who they saw at the last tournament BORING. I did read them all and they were over the top at times but some were informative at times. You might like a world where a kid can't get a toy in his happy meal unless some politician tells them what they must eat but not me. I would like to have both of these guys on my team. I am sure they play with passion and that's the way the game should be played.

logan makes a point. Sure some of it went too far, but the rest of us knew what was coming and no one was forcing us to read what we did not want to, or found offensive.

Same as with TV shows. If you don't like particular content, change the channel.

logan,I believe that both of those guys asked to be ban from the board at one time or another in one of their heated discussions. I agree with the statement that you do not have to read what they have to say. Most of the time the name calling etc was in the middle of a good discussion and the thread would get way off track. Thanks Harry

birdie repeats my point that the squabble often trashed a good discussion on a different topic.

logan, tell me your secret on retrieving ALL of the comments that have been deleted. I lost a lot of statements when a whole thread was dumped, statements that sometimes were the results of research and that I would want to retrieve if the argument came up again...but they are lost to me.

And Webbie's observation is correct that a LOT of new guys are now posting. If it is so easy just to ignore certain guys, what explains the addition of dozens of new guys once the flamers were banned? Don't they know how to disregard inflammatory statements? Or was the environment so toxic that they didn't care to participate lest they be attacked as well?

logan, as an afterthought, you observe that you would like to have these guys on your team. I don't know gary, but I do know einstein and you are correct that he plays with passion and competence and by all accounts is a great teammate. I also enjoyed many of his opinions, including those I completely disagreed with, so I miss his presence. However, he was quick to attack those who opposed him, often with namecalling and belittling comments. I don't miss that.

BIG BROTHER is fine if you like censorship. What happens if you say something BIG BROTHER decides he doesn't like is it OK to ban you? We are adults not children we should decide if we want to read a post or not. If BIG BROTHER deletes

I wouldn't go that far. This is not a First Amendment issue. It is a private website and the owner can delete/ban as he pleases.

Personally I enjoyed Einstein on and off the field. I feel that Gary C. was very negative, confrontational and had nothing Positive to add. Maybe, that was his reason for his anonymity. Un like Joe, who is very passonate about
the game and people who play it. I do miss Joe's views on some of these Post. We know who Joe is but Who is Gary C?

I have been reading posts on this site for quite awile that is how I know about both of these guys.If you were afraid of posting because Einstein or Gary C would say something bad to you I guess you don't need to wear a cup when you play ball. My God what is going on in this world. This site is now boring I don't care who you saw at the last tournament or if you think that so and so should play up. Most of the time I didn't agree with what they were doing but those guys made you think. Could it be that some people don't like to be challenged ? I have just signed on this site to post but have been reading posts for a few years
this site has lost two guys who were passionate about the game and I know that anytime you allow censorship you have lost creativity

logan, They asked to be ban and got their wish. I would be mad if I got ban for something that I said that did not break the rules of this web site. I believe that there are rules for this web site that must be followed. if you break these rules you should be ban. They pushed it to the limit and went to far. Logan, I don't know GaryC but I do know Einstein personally. He's an excellent player who can pitch, play the infield and hits with a lot of power. I would take him on my team anyday. He's really a good hearted guy who wants the best for everyone.
The best way to sum up Einsteins posts on here would be this way:
"the views expressed by this poster don't necessarily reflect those of the SSUSA community"

Stick8 you are right it's sad that adult men and women aren't allowed to decide if thay want to read a post or not. I have seen Einstein play and I know Gary C he is a very good player also. If they met they would not agree on much but would love to play on the same team.

logan-I appreciate your passion against big brother. I feel he is already here in so many ways and I believe we have asked for him by our actions as a society. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Every step we take toward big brother is taken with the best intentions-i.e. cameras on every corner and in every store, traffic red-light cameras, etc. and they are all things that, if we behaved ourselves, would not be necessary. In this case we have a privately run message board for discussions about softball. Those 2 made it a verbal war on many threads and a very personal one. There were a few days that their attacks were the only blogs in any thread. It interfered with the purpose of the board and alienated a lot of potential bloggers. The decision was not made lightly or quickly. I think they made a decision they had to make for the viability of the board. Isn't there a line somewhere that if you cross it, you deserve to be banned?

Einstein is off the board but I guess by changing his handle GaryC got around the ban and now posts as Gary19.
If GaryC and Gary19 are not the same person then they should be because they express the same exact views. Since Einstein isn't here to provoke him it's not quite as bad but still not good. He likes to go after maddog and call him names.
Just my view.

Just like pro hockey-there are only 5 teams with losing records because you do not get a loss for an overtime game, even if you lose. Pretty bad, that.
logan, they were warned and asked to stop repeatedly. At some point you have to monitor your own behavior.
Maybe you have a point-we could have won in Phoenix if you guys hadn't beaten us twice-just by counting the runs you scored as being more than we scored. Triviality!! We need a redo!!!!

Enjoy debating with you, my friend!

Pretty much agree w/Logan on this one; without dissent & controversy it gets very boring. Kind of like the line in the Steven King movie "Needful Things" when the devil (Max von Sydow) tells the police chief that "You actually need me because without evil there can't be any good".

Logan: "A kinder gentler approach lets not keep score we don't want the losers to feel bad. I guess this site is better when guys are talking about there Grand kids and who they saw at the last tournament BORING. "

We are SSBallers; we care about each other; although not blood kin, we are a softball family. We do not sit down at a meal in a tourney & start throwing trash at each other or at other teams like what was being done on this site.
We do not need contention; discussions, yes, but name calling is ridiculous; each person should be addressed by their real or username!!!

If you are married w/kids, do you sit down at the table & start throwing trash or do you have a "GENTLER" type conversation? I bet you don't!!!!

While passionate about the game and the ensuing discussions pertinent to the betterment of our game I read with interest the threads that have sometihng positive to offer.

When the egos or unwell (whichever it really is) persons disrupt and destroy the positive or thought provoking aspects of the thread be they pro or con someone HAS to step in to preserve the intergrity of what we all love to do or discuss.

To start the BIG BROTHER mantra along with certain phrases and semantic deliveries and quickly enumerated posts it appears to me that a member of this board has once again re-invented himself much to the detriment of us all.

That being said. It is a sad fact that the policing of this web site message board is NEEDED - and if fact welcomed by the majority of posters/players.

While not as colorful the content has for the most part been enjoyable, informative, and positive. Some sarcastic, some witty, like the wry sport we play.

If you want to read the negative just pick up your local newspaper ......... but most of us here, I believe, would prefer to have the negative, taunting, inciting, deriding, useless posts left out and enjoy what our sport has to offer.

If you can't man up and abide by the very simple quidelines for posting you should be revoked. If you feel the rules do not apply to you, you simply don't belong. The trouble is those kind of people will NEVER get it. Thus, yes - a BIG BROTHER is needed.

Somewhat akin to a play ground monitor that is forced to make the kiddies follow the societal rules - sadly - as grown men there are some that still need them.

As an organization the SSUSA is opposed to censure - that said - any they initiated was not initiated by them but by the actions of the ones who are supposed to no longer be posting.

We don't need the omnipresent drain of the negative posters. Period.

Here we go again. It was nice for a couple of months.

Couple ideas.

1. SSUSA-is it too much work to install an IGNORE button? I have seen that before in chat rooms and then each individual can make his or her decision on what to read. Freedom of expression will still exist for Einstein, garyc and logan and we can make our choices what to read-as logan has said many times. And, just for the record, Gary19 will NOT be on my ignore list-while we disagree on some issues, I find he stimulates thought.

2. How about a new category, like 'bats', that would be just for those 3 guys. They can post all they want and if we want to read their posts-we have the freedom to go into their category and read them. Call it Personal Opinions, or something like that. They comment on what is being discussed in other threads and if we wish to read it, we can go there and do so. Instead of BIG BROTHER, it is a special category, yes even preferential treatment, just for them. Pretty neat.

Slippery slope---right! I know that this softball message board and how it is run is going to affect our whole society in general. A little BIG BROTHER here and a little there and soon ALL of our freedoms of expression everywhere are gone because 2 guys were banned on a softball message board. Puhleese!

I find it very interesting that someone's very first post on this board is to stir up trouble and every post since then has followed suit. It brings back some very unpleasant memories of the board filled with name calling, negativity and other personal attacks that have been absent for a while, much to the delight of many here. If you know so much about the two suspended posters, yet this was your first post under the name logan, then you obviously used to be on here another name which some have alluded to here. If you do not like the way topics are being discussed on here, why don't you quit the whining and complaining and just go away. But no, like with your supposed friend Gary C (wink, wink), that will not happen. You will continue to hijack threads, contribute nothing worthwhile and generally just be a thorn in everyone's side. That said, I will take one piece of advice from you and never respond again to any of your negativity and worthless input you post here.

Mr hitter you told me to leave I said if you don't like a person or subject don't read the post. No wonder you like BIG BROTHER.
Now you want me to post something about softball. Make the game as close to baseball as possible forget
super balls throw out the ultra 2 and all the crap that makes average hitters home run hitters. If you hit a ball up the middle it should not be an out and don't say your sorry because that's what good hitters were taught to do go up the middle. Plus pitchers have so much crap on them if they fall down you need someone to help them get back on there feet. If you can't catch a ball hit back at you maybe you should play somewhere else or get a hobby. That's just a start now that ought to piss you and all your clones off.

puppy, when did I say SSUSA shouldn't have the control to do that? Now personally I find it kind of silly. Again, if I don't want to read what a particular person posts I just skip over it. And it is only words, so what do they really hurt? But of course the moderators can delete/ban what and who ever they want. NEVER said otherwise.

To compare words on a friggin message board to the analogies you tried to make is really absurd, but I defend your right to continue being absurd if you so choose.

maddog
to compare my posts to taking a dump in your house is stupid that's the only word that describes it. One thing that canljack and you do have in common you both like to talk about crap kind of like both your posts.

Omar
I understand why you don't want Einstein or Gary C back on the site if I remember they kicked your arrogant butt every time you crossed swords with them. I have one question is 4x4 your illegitimate brother no one can be that boring without being related to you

Pitcherman
It's hard to ignore someone who has to wear protective gear to play ball you must be a pitcher with that name just a note play a real position and then let me know if you get hurt without you girlie gear.

The only one on this thread with any balls is Gary19 he doesn't need BIG BROTHER to protect him.

Well it's been nice i am out of hear.

To logan/Gary C:

Kind of sad that your comments were always hostile
Interesting posts are always welcome here.
Senior softball players play for fun and friendships,
Since none of us make a living from this activity.

Maybe you can rejoin these conversations when
You're not so intent on being critical of others.

All of us make mistakes, but we learn from them,
So as not to repeat them (hint hint).
Seems that your posts made my mind go acrostic.
