We are playing in the Manny Gonzales Tournament in Georgetown April 1-2,

Why in the world would we have to play at 8:00 AM ON FRIDAY, AND AGAIN 8:00 AM ON SATURDAY.

I hate 8:00 AM games !!!!

Kenny, looks like they are planning on dragging it out to three days again, instead of finishing in two. We may not come back for Sunday if it is done that way. We got a 9:30AM and you guys at 8 AM Saturday. Looks like Mad Dog knows someone??? Maybe not he has a 8 AM Saturday too.

Mad Dog, all five teams are currently rated AAA, so pool will determine Gold and silver brackets.

#6 and Mad Dog, they just added a sixth team to the 60, so we will be playing three days per Layla. New pool bracket has been send out to managers.

Anyone know who is the new team? I believe Texas Makulis are Major (we were last year) and also Alamo City Legends are Major.

look for Alamo City Legends to move up to Major since they won the SPA AAA Nationals in Dalton and have at least ELEVEN players from that roster playing this year...SPA is just now making upgrades on ratings.

I find it interesting that Alamo City Legends is currently rated AAA by the SPA after they won the SPA AAA Nationals in Dalton while SSUSA already has them re-rated to Major. It did not take SPA this long to re-rate other teams who won Nationals, for example, Double L Roofing which won the 60 Majors last year got moved up to Major Plus last December.

Just guessing but it may be because Alamo City hasn't entered any SPA tournaments since and SPA is still updating ratings.

The most logical answer is they just plain missed it on the sheet but you and I both know Alamo City wouldn't slide by as a AAA team at a SPA tournament becasse it definitely would be caught there if not by SPA, most certainly by other teams.

Just noticed SPA does not have any team ratings older than 2010, so they are getting very current.

Ho,shouldn't matter, they should be moved up as soon as they win a major tourney.

will say that ridge has been hospitalized and maybe that might a reason, but still they have more than him to do the work.

JBT, is guru a 60,i do know he has a 65 team, maybe they are playing down in age,so as not to play during the week or have more competition in a lower age bracket.

MAD DOG- guru is a 65 major plus team, i believe the problem is they are too strong for the 65 teams that going to be at georgetown. since the guru boys want to play, they are better off playing down one age level to make it more competetive for them. sounds fair to me, however, if they play a 60 major team, no runs should be given, if the play a 60-AAA team they may need to give five runs. good luck to all!

armiho211, they may have had a surprise in the 65's, the New San antonio Legends have 7 players, five starters from the AC legends that moved up this year.

The Guru team was put together with the idea of playing 65s in the Nationals and 60s locally so we could get in some games against younger teams. As originally scheduled for Georgetown, we were placed against 50 Majors! That is NOT what we had in mind - spotting 15 years and worrying about someone getting hurt. Anyway, in speaking directly with Layla, wiser heads prevailed and we will be playing against 60s in Georgetown. I will not waste my time and money playing against 50 year olds.

I saw Guru 65's in Baytown nobody will suprise them they had 10 players all of them hit it out and they did not have double 10. that is a no weakness major plus team. They destoyed the Lousians Legends 60's team after giving up 5 run spot

MAD DOG- i am playing with the texas legends 65's . ed jones still has me on his roster as a spare part, but it appears that the 60- spurs will have more than enough players. BUT i am going to RENO with the spurs. i have never played there and i understand this is one hell of a tournament. JBTTexas- we ( DALLAS SPURS 60'S ) played the AC LEGENDS in dalton last year, they really turned it on in the last 2 days of that tournament, and beat some pretty good teams to win it. looking forward to playing them in the 65's in georgetown.

double 10- SSUSA has the texas legends 65's listed as MAJOR PLUS. the team was bumped up due to combining the regular team with 4-5 major plus players in order to complete a team to take to the phoenix natls. then we took this stronger team to the las vegas winter natls as the texas legends 65's. this is the reason SSUSA hs us listed still as a MAJOR PLUS team. even though the " big boys" are gone now to play with guru, we are still listed as a major plus team. requests have been made to ssusa to review our situation to no avail. the same thing is going on with SPA, they said they would drop the team to AAA, since we also lost bud,joe and mitch, but they have not changed our major rating in SPA either. this might cause us a problem when we play AA OR AAA teams, i am sure they will ask for runs. will see how things work out. good luck to you guys in georgetown. see ya friday ! frankie.

Frankie, I hear you. I was subjected to the same type of response by SSUSA when I petitioned to have our Boaz team moved down to Major after several years of being non-competitive at the M+ level. That petition also fell on deaf ears. Good luck in Georgetown and stay healthy!
