2011 SSHOF selections
To all of you that are in the Senior Softball Hall of Fame, Ray Wimbaugh has been nominated for the Class of 2011 HOF. Ray has proven himself as a class guy on and off the field. Most will know him as the crafty pitcher and tough batter for Turn Two, a 60 Major plus team from Virginia.
He is most deserving of your vote.
Good luck Ray!

Bruce, you, as usual are correct. Ray-Ray is most deserving of induction. He will receive my vote.

Bruce, I haven't seen any information about the Class of 2011. Where can I see the list of nominees? Thanks,

LL, I got this unofficially from someone in the SPA organization. I was told there would be 32 nominees for 2011.

Ray-Ray deserves to be in the HOF and so does Bruce. Both of you guys have my vote this year. I believe Rick Perez out of Las Vegas is up for nomination as well.

Rick Perez is indeed deserving! I believe my time will come later. Thanks, though.

Yea Rick Perez definitely should go into the Senior Softball Hall of Fame, plus a few more of those Las Vegas Stars. Man,that was an awesome M+ Team. He also picked up a few more World Chanps Rings with the Marvicks in 2006 just before he retired.
Good Luck Rick, you are deserving like Bruce said.

I told Steve Imay a story about our 50 major plus team, Old South/Miken. It was 2004 or 2005. We had dominated all the 50 teams in the southeast and were excited about going the the SPA Nationals in Plano. I forget how it played out but we won our first game and had to play the Las Vegas Stars that night. We were thinking who are these guys??? Long story short, they demolished us. I know Steve played for them, maybe Hank. It sounds like Rick also played for them.
They were a GREAT team!!

Hey Bruce. I was not with them for that tourney but they did ask me to play in two other tourneys as they were a little short. They were an awesome team. They would have given our Dan Smith a run for our money(haha). Rick and Steve both played with them. Hope the HOF calls you soon as you surely deserve it. Good luck and hope to see you on the road this year.

Thanks for mentioning the LV Star’s team it brings back many positive memories and reminds me why we all play this great game- competition and people. I believe we all have teams that are special to us (could be a new thread).
It’s great to remember the players, competitors and the games that we played against teams you weren’t supposed to beat but did!
Sorry didn’t mean to steal this important thread….

It is amazing to me that Rick Perez is not already in the Hall of Fame...Rick is the best overall softball player I have ever played with or against...A 5 tool player that is also a incredible leader !

Maybe Rick Perez is not already in the HOF because he is not yet 60 and has not played the required 10 years of Senior Ball? As far as best overall player he is certainly in the conversation with the likes of Ron Parnell as well as only a very select few.

It looks as if 2012 may be my year for the Senior Softball HOF. I wasn't told names for 2011, just that there are 32 that submitted their credentials.

Roland Belitz from MTC has applied and deserves the right to be in the HOF. 32 names are a lot of names anybody have any idea how many will be inducted?

Steve, If I recall correctly - and that's a stretch - 8 from the list of nominees were inducted into the SSHOF.

Rick Perez and Roland Belitz are great softball players, but they like Steve Imlay (inducted last year) are also top notch people. I'm looking forward to hearing they both were accepted into the HOF.

Have played next to Roland in the outfield on GSF and MTC-60s - great outfielder and hitter. He deserves to be inducted!
