| May 17, 2011 tvp 8 posts | High Tourney Entry Fees and Week Prizes I think everyone agrees that the costs of Tournaments are going up and would like something returned to the Players who support the Organizations that run them. We are now paying $500 to $600 for Entry Fees so teams without a Sponser(most don't have one) have to pay this in addition to Hotel Costs, Flight Fees Rental Car Fees, Food Etc. Nice to get Something Back! Our Team Won in Mesquite (a Ring Option Tournament) and Guess What We got? It has been over Two Months and we have received Nothing. Some Problem about a Back Order. Think We should get something? We All play the Game because we love it but These Organizations should be giving back Something. An Apology or ??????. |
| May 17, 2011 dooker 25 posts | TVP - Played in the Tournament of Champions back in February and, besides being a bust for a major tournament, were supposed to get embroidered golf shirts. Have we got them yet? Think you know the answer. |

| May 17, 2011 doker Men's 60 169 posts | The shirts were of good quality and sizes were good also....by the way everyone that attended the TOC got one or will get one!!!! |
| May 17, 2011 mad dog Men's 60 3802 posts | doker i haven't seen mine yet....just saying. dooker who are you playing with in plano,i'll be with the dallas spurs 60 AAA #77. |
| May 18, 2011 stick8 1117 posts | Perhaps the TOC could get more teams if they would loosen up on the restrictions to qualify. Suppose your team is playing a TOC qualifier and end up finishing as runner up. The team that finished ahead of you already has a berth. Why not pass the berth down to your team? The name of the event would obviously need to be changed but you might get more teams. jm $0.02 worth |
| May 18, 2011 mad dog Men's 60 3802 posts | stick, usssa did that(not sure if they still do)if the team/s ahead of you already had their berth to states or worlds.i think they would only go down as 4th tho meaning if the first 3 had their berths, you could get one. still think the TOC should be in nov instead of feb tho...... |
| May 18, 2011 stick8 1117 posts | Actually Mad Dog they still do for a PAID berth to the worlds. The berth gets passed down to the team who doesn't have one, if they accept it. If not, then it gets passed down again, no limit on how many spots. Years ago USSSA decided to open up the world tournament to any team who wanted to enter. Now you see well over 100 teams in the Class D & E world tournaments. It's a big money maker for USSSA plus it gives teams who did not qualify a chance at winning the world tournament. I do agree with you about having the TOC in November. |

| May 18, 2011 J R 139 posts | shirts are the cheapest prize they can give 100.00 per winning team. Tournaments are expensive. I visited with Fran in Tuscon. What they pay for field rental was unbeleiveable. Most guys do not realize they also pay field prep charges, most of the workers are on overtime because we play on weekends. We had an SSUSA tournament 15 teams x 300.00By the time i paid umpires bought shirts paid 30.00 sanction per time. My league only cleared 750.00. |
| May 18, 2011 Doubles33 Men's 50 8 posts | I see ASA, NSA, UTrip tournaments for the young guys all the time from $175 - $250 per team. 3-8 game gurantees. I guess they are LOSING MONEY?? DOUBTFUL - Just not making a killing. Look at these in Virginia. One is an 8GG for $375. http://centralvirginiaasa.com/tourneys/view_Tourneys.asp |
| May 18, 2011 stick8 1117 posts | JR you make a good point about workers being on overtime on the weekends. It can get costly, especially if their union. |

Without a corporate sponsor and using volunteers the local senior association will make a few hundred dollar (maybe. There is no great profit in putting on qualifers. The main reason(s) for doing...Love of the game, advertise the community we live in, and most importantly, an opportunity to meet old friends who are still playing. |
