| May 22, 2011 einstein Men's 50 3142 posts | Reno on the horizon Wow. A week before Reno and the world hasn't ended yet. I sure hope it doesn't till after labor day. I hate when that happens. 50 Major has 9 very good looking teams and will be competitive and should be lots of fun. Dave or anyone? What balls are we using? Joe Lecak, my good friend told me that Lynn Swann and Jack Lambert will be in uniform for the Southwest Legends. What a gas? I played once against Brian Shaw in Oakland and called time while pitching to walk over and shake his hand. Had to. Looking forward to the tournament in Reno as always. It's the first chance for most to gauge ourselves against national competition. Can't wait. |
| May 22, 2011 Lecak Men's 55 998 posts | Joe you know I was kidding 58 and 88 are my softball uniform numbers after my two heros growing up in Pittsburgh. Everyone asks me why I chose those numbers for softball, two pretty good role models when I was growing up. See you in Reno. |
| May 22, 2011 einstein Men's 50 3142 posts | Those were great role models of competition and athletic excellence, Joe. You share them with a lot of us from the East. There was a rumor around NorCal that Willie McGee was going to be playing this year. Still exciting stuff. Can't wait. See you on Saturday. |
| May 24, 2011 birdie Men's 60 658 posts | Hey guys, Play well in Reno!!! The only Steeler jersey that I ever wore was number 58. I do miss the people of Pittsburgh they are special. There is nothing like a bar in Pittsburgh at any time of the day. It is not as crowded as it use to be in the bars at 700am when the mills let out however. Thanks Harry (Joe still exercising it is getting better.) |
| May 25, 2011 canIjack Men's 60 317 posts | Hey guys, A fellow employee just came back from Reno; Our Company had some work up there. He told me that the weather in Reno is Windy, COLD Nights and Mornings, lot of snow in those Mountains above Reno. So bring bat warmers, long pants, and long sleeves shirts. It’s COLD |
| May 25, 2011 Tim Millette 357 posts | The question is what's the over and under number for senior bats breaking during the first round of bracket games Sunday morning? Temps in the fourties and low fifties!!!!!! CRACK!!!!!!! Better bring your "kids" bats. |
| May 25, 2011 DoubleL10 Men's 65 769 posts | The 6-10 day forecast for next Tuesday thru Thursday (when the 65s play) is high in the 70s and lows in the low 50s. I remember playing early morning games a few years ago and I wore a flannel-lined jacket until the weather warmed up later in the day. Good luck to all and stay safe! |
| May 25, 2011 einstein Men's 50 3142 posts | Hey Larry, Tim, Birdie and Ken. Thanks, Timmy. I got a USSSA bat I'll be using, a Super Freak that should take the beating. Hotels.com stood by a reservation I made 3 weeks ago that got messed up and upgraded me to a better hotel for the same price and a 100 dollar discount coupon on my next booking with them. Not a bad way to start the weekend. Dave said 44x375 trump balls. Fun and a challenge to keep the ball in the park in 50 major with only 5 HRs. Can't wait. |
| May 26, 2011 Webbie25 Men's 60 1808 posts | Guys-have fun in Reno-we were too short of players to go and make a quality showing. I will miss it, we had fun last year. |
| May 26, 2011 FOFO Men's 50 127 posts | Having grown up in Carson City I can tell you wind is the norm. Joe you had me going with the Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert BS. I was thinking Lesak really loaded up this time, and how old are those guys? Really looking forward to Reno. Should be a blast. Bert |
| May 26, 2011 ShaneV Men's 55 354 posts | Wishing the best showing for the NW teams in 50M this weekend. Finally some temperatures we're used to!!! Going from 60's to 80's for us always takes some adjustment and dehydration can really take a toll. Weather this time is just what we're used to. Strange weather year. We've only seen 5-6 days 65 or above this year in our area!!! ShaneV Sigillo Cellars Crush./JCI Jones Chemicals 55AAA |
