| July 13, 2011 GI Men's 60 228 posts | loss of an senior player- PHX I have recieved a message from one of our CJS players that former player (Doug Shilling) with us and Glory Daze of PHX area died on July 9th from a short fight with cancer. There will be a service in the PHX area Wed. 13th. Best wishes to his friends and family and we wish them well and in the future. |
| July 14, 2011 Joncon 328 posts | I met Doug playing ball about 14 years ago and had been playing league ball a couple times a week since then. His inaugural senior tourney 7 years ago was in Vegas with CJS and it was a trip to remember both on and off the field. Doug was not the kind of guy that most opponents would remember. He wasn't a jokester/loudmoth like some of us. He never lost his temper or had anything bad to say about his opponents or umpires. He just did his job at 3B, pitcher or outfield and had fun. I want to thank all the players who attended the service last night and had such kind words and stories to share with Doug's family. I have had my share of friends that have passed but I am truely missing Doug right now. There has never neen a better person than Doug Schilling and I will miss him terribly. |
