Major team bracketed in with AA / AAA
How do the isa justify putting a major in the aa / aaa??????
When they should be bractted with other age group majors or their age group major +
What pride can they get from beating lower brackett teams????
How humiliating if they get beat.....
No real winner in this situation

In addition to what you have to say, ISA won't award the TOC birth to your team if the major team wins your bracket.
We are in a similar situation, in our 50 major bracket there are two major plus teams, one 55 and one 60.
It's not that I mind playing them but births should be awarded to the highest finishers in each age group/division, not per platinum division.
I forsee attendance dropping in the future if this practice is continued.

Teams need to "vote" with their checkbooks.

You know their is a big problem when we have 50 60yr old teams in Fl and only 1 or 2 will enter a "MAJOR" tournament

billcoo, there are over 90 60yr teams in florida and a well run tournament each month(12 each year) somewhere in florida, why would there want to travel 2000 miles pay $600 plus dollar to pay when they can do the same thing within in most cases less then 150 miles. Add to the fact the winter nationals are in ft. meyers and they have the best of both worlds. No one, sorry einstein does it like the florida half century league does. I'm hoping Texas can get to this point sometime in the future.

Mad dog,
Thanks for the info.....appreciate it. But when I read the quote from billcoo that says "Since my a.m. posting we have been rerated to AAA. What a conicidence
48 hrs till game time and they now tell us this....We have been preregistered about a month....And they tell us this today????"

That sounded like re-ranking to me...as in look there weren't any major teams for you to play, so we put you in AAA, and now we will compensate you by setting that up for you to win.

Nice, a level playing field...Either way it sucks for everybody.

Billcoo, you went silent on us about the team name...

MD,
Here's what I know.....there's a Major team in AAA that's already won a National Championship. Team Morgan Keegan players in Team Brotherhood uniforms. In case you don't know those teams here's a comparison for you.

Imagine Hollis showing up to play AAA...now maybe you have the picture...but that would never happen with those guys as they have too much integrity.

Simply put, what's happened in AAA in Cocoa is an embarrassment to the game.....for everyone.

Southernson,

This leads back to part of the discusson that was going on about classifying players and whether a player is classified Major or Major+ simply because they are on a team.

Morgan Keegan broke up after the SSUSA Spring National. Several of the former Morgan Keegan players went to a team that is playing at the Major level. Several other players haven't really played (that I know of) since the break-up and did play AAA this weekend with The Brotherhood.

My understanding (and I'm not totally in the loop so I may not be very accurate) is that several of The Brotherhood players formed a new team (Florida Advanced Screening I think - finished 2nd in the AAA) which left The Brotherhood short players. Since several of the former MK players were good friends and available, they were asked to play.

So, we come back to the question that seems to be going round and round - if a player plays on a certain level team are they considered that level of a player because they're on the team?

Beasely,
Valid comments and insight, but we all know about the stacking of teams in tournaments such as this...

It's one of the many reasons that more teams don't participate. It's one of the many problems that remains unsolved.

Mostly I find the first post came from....well, you know....read it again.

@ Southernson - I understand your concern about stacking a team. It's not right but seems to get by more often than not.

It has to be difficult when a roster is reviewed to pick out who's sandbagging. But personally, I don't see anything wrong with a Tournament Director walking over to a team or player and telling them that they're done. Pack your stuff and go home. Yes, a refund may be involved, but the few dollars that you'll lose (this tournament) will gain you a ton in integrity. I bet that once the word got around that you'd have more teams wanting to play in your next tournament.

By no means am I directing that comment at any association! It just gets old seeing guys playing "E" softball and laughing because they have the other players afraid of field their balls. Or that they just want to be a hero so bad that they have to stoop to that level. I just don't get it - never have and never will. I think I'd quit playing if it ever got that bad.

I read the first post but I don't know who that is. Sometimes I wish people had to use their real names on these boards so that you knew who you were talking to.

Me - I'm just another butthead softball player with an opinion that probably stinks.

Beasely,
Like the sense of humor and I agree with your opinion.

I still carry a picture of a team that won a National Championship with me in my softball bag...and we still see those players and team in the same division.

I carry it so our players know how messed up these tournaments really are, and to remind them that we are going to see some odd things occur most every tournament.

Funny how billcoo went silent on us...so billcoo, just out of curiosity, how'd yall do?
