Whats the rule?
In senior ball game goes to extra innings the last batter the inning before starts at 2nd base. You cannot use a courtesy runner until he advances one base but can you sub for him with a player that hasnt previouly played in the game and if so could the player that was subbed for re-enter on defense?

I was asked this question tonight at the ball field and I had no answer but i think stick would know.

If you're going to sub you can do it for defense but the last batter has to be able to reenter & go to 2nd base, if the last batter can not go to 2nd base for whatever reason, the next batter that batted goes to 2nd with 1 out.

butch17-you have a thread going under General and Miscellaneous about this rule. SSUSA clarified it there.

Butchie in your scenario I believe you can only put a sub in after the runner goes to third base.

what it comes down to regardless what you do on defense the following inning that last batter to bat in the previous inning has to go to 2nd if not able to the batter that batted before him has to go to 2nd with 1 out.(period)
Stick8 you are right & so is butch17 once the runner reaches 3b he can have a courtesy runner or sub.

Injury: we had this happen in BHam; extra innings, runner on 2B; tags on ball to advance to 3B; fell down & hurt himself. Stayed @ 2b; was allowed a CR.

Player was a fast runner & would not have had a fake fall to get a CR.

PS I guess this is permissible; I had no problem w/it.
