Less Than A Month Until Dalton
Please forgive me; I have had a senior moment (or two!). Several weeks back, I inquired about teams (AA/AAA), who will be attending Dalton, Ga. Nationals. Could you inform again? Thanks. We are Strykers, AA, 60's.

Yea, I getting ready to pack. I mean going to this tourney is like going to Europe. Four days of playing from start to finish. Two days of playing 4 games, costing each team thousands of extra $$$, not to mention being away from home & their business's. Then 2 more days of the all important " double elemination ". When we used to go to Plano, we left (driving)on Wed. & returned home on Mon..... I'll tell you what guys, & this is just my personal opinion. I liked it better when I was in my younger days, going to a real double elemation "World Tournament". You paid about $250,took your chances, played Fri, Sat & Sun if you made the final 4....Yes , some of you guys say you like the seeding games & having the opportunity to play some teams that you have never played before. Yea, that is great....But i will leave you with one last thought," how many times have starting players pulled hamstrings, calf muscles, back strain , etc.,etc.,etc.,& not be able to play or be "up to par" on Sunday,(should you make it that far)because they got injured , hustling & playing their butt off in a seeding game?....A "Point To Ponder", When I was younger & in "tip top shape", we played the required amount of games it took to get through a 20-30 team "World" ,double elemination tournament, hoping that no one got hurt.......NOW , you are over 50,60,65.70.75&80, & playing all of these "extra" games & guys are getting hurt for various reasons in the seeding games & they are not up to par (because they hustled & play their ass off") should their team get near the "Finals" & CANT HELP THEM.....Been there & done that....Just my opinion & I know it won't matter a "Hill Of Beans"....

..good turnout for all groups. I do understand your point, heck, I wish we would just play one warm-up game, then start elimination. I also understand where multiple pool games are appreciated when a team has 15 to 20 players, but I usually just try to have 13-14.

For everyone: I have been playing baseball/softball for 50 years and rue the day that I will no longer be able to play.
Aren't we greatly fortunate and blessed that we can participate, whatever the association, whatever the rules?!

Well, today is my birthday (62) and my less than nimble fingers hit a wrong key and the above is half the message that I intended.
The above portion is for JimJoe, wherein, I stated that at least his team is going to Dalton and I do hope there is a good turnout for all groups.

To Mad Dog: Having trouble right now just getting enough to be there, probably 12! Injuries, attrition, frustration, etc. has set in, resulting in loss of players. We have lost 8 games by one run in the last inning this year--all to AAA and major teams.

To Tater: congratulations on your team's championship in Bham. Are you guys moving to 60's next year? Bringing your guitar to Dalton?

Southpaw,

Big Herb said he would still go if you were short, he said no hard feelings and he was able and willing if needed.

Thankfully, we will be able to attend Dalton. We will have 14 there (including Herb, Jim), however, 3 have varying degrees of injuries! Such is life. Glad the season is almost over, we have only Pensacola after Dalton. I will be looking for you Mad Dog; good luck to your team and others as well.

MD, I know how good the Spurs are; thankfully, we will be playing AA. If there was a single A category, that's where I would be!

Since we played 90% AAA teams this entire year, I would offer to give you scouting reports on all the Southern teams, but my buddies would kill me!! There are so few teams in the South and Southeast, we wind up playing the same 5-6 teams about 6-10 times each. Memphis is the only AA team that we have played. Good luck to all in Dalton; safe travels, etc.
