Oct. 17, 2011 Player 86 posts | Snowbird Rule I still can't understand the difference between the SSUSA and the SPA on the Snowbird Rule. SPA allows a player, when in his snowbird State, to play on a team from an adjoining State. SSUSA sez - a player, when in his snowbird State may only play on a team from the snowbird State. I need help understanding this as we - now - have to submit our applications for November. |

Oct. 18, 2011 SSUSA Staff 3490 posts | An SSUSA player with a "Snowbird" card may play in his 'home' state (and any qualifying bordering state) AND the actual state of his snowbird temporary residence. The player may NOT use his snowbird card/state to expand even further from home. The 'snowbird' card is issued to allow a player to be able to play in SSUSA events in his snowbird state only while away from his permanent residence, and not as a means to be able to 'team shop' in multiple states away from the home and bordering states. _____ NOTES: [1]Effective November 1, 2011, Major+ teams will not be able to have 'snowbird' players on their tournament rosters. [2] The SSUSA Rules Committee Meeting agenda for the December convention will consider abolishing, or significantly restricting, snowbird rules as they relate to the other playing divisions. |
