Update on Lew Oppenheimer - Coach of Lew's Crew 40AAA
Memorial Service/Celebration of Life for Lew Oppenheimer

We will be holding a Memorial Service for Lew Oppenheimer on November 11th, 2011 at Cedar Lane Park Field #2. Please arrive at 7pm. The service will start soon after.

Our plan is to hold the ceremony on the ball diamond around the pitchers mound. If anyone would like to speak at the service please contact Alethea Bageant at abageant@ear...thlink.net.

To honor Lew, we will all be wearing our favorite/oldest Lew’s team jersey. If you only played against Lew, wear your jersey that you wore while competing against one of his teams. Jersey’s and jeans would have made Lew smile!

Immediately following the service, we will be having a Celebration of Life party at Jilly’s. Appetizers and drinks will be provided. In order to get a handle on the number of people attending please RSVP to Alethea Bageant at abageant@earthlink.net. Gathering for dinner after a night of ball was a favorite pastime of Lew’s!

Lisa Mills and Mary Broch are organizing a Memorial Fund to raise money for a tribute to Lew at Cedar Lane Park. We are hoping to raise enough money to purchase a bench, plant a tree, etc. Contributions are welcome!

Don’t’ forget that we are hoping to have a rough idea on the number of people attending the service and the after party so we can better plan for food and beverages. Lew knew so many folks in the county that we are struggling to guess what the attendance will be!

Again, Alethea Bageant at abageant@earthlink.net will handle counting the attendance. Please spread the word!

Hi-
We are a fellow 40+ Women's team out of the New England area. We recently played in The Worlds out in Phoenix in October when this terrible tragedy occurred. We will be sending a donation to The Lew Memorial Fund this week. Although we did not know Lew, our hearts go out to him, his family and the entire softball community that has suffered such a tremendous loss. We hope to meet up with you at the next tournament we attend together.

Our sincerest condolences,

The Twisted Fossils 40+ Women's Softball Team
