Dec. 28, 2011 tg69 393 posts | News flash,NEW SENIOR LEAGUE to start I dont like any of these SPECIAL rules in senior softball so Im thinking about starting my own ass. These are my rules.Wood bats,no corking.RIF softballs,no DHs and absolutely no courteousy runners .Also the mat must go so the umpire can determine where the ball crosses your body but the strike zone is between the knees and your belt.Arch is 3 to 20 ft.There will be no double bag at first and only one plate. You wont have to slide ,it will be OK to contact catcher to dislodge ball if possible.Im thinking about going with a 4 ball, 4 strike count so you can get another, better pitch to hit.Absolutely no run limits per inning and NO run rule or that crazy TIME limit. If it takes 2-3 hours to play a game ,so be it.It shouldnt make the next team waiting to plat too mad.SO all being said,if you are interest in playing in MY league, please sign up below.THANKS,LAST WORD |
Dec. 28, 2011 steve65 Men's 65 177 posts | could we have Jeff Dunham and Walter umpire?? |
Dec. 28, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Steve,your my first sign up.Thanks, who next? |
Dec. 28, 2011 tg69 393 posts | OOOPS,forgot the most important thing, there is only one division and one age group, just like it was when we were YOUNGER,no SPECIAL treatment for ANYONE so if your still not a five tool player you mite not want to sign up.LAST WORD |
Dec. 28, 2011 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | I'm in-full contact softball-yeah! Can we get a National Tournament in every city, too? The bigger the city, the larger ring you HAVE to buy.Let's also go back to nine defensive players. I'm still a 5 tool player, wrenched back, hammer toe, club foot, level head, and eye socket set. Peanut put me up to this!!! Thanks Jeff Dunham! |
Dec. 28, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Whos next? |
Dec. 28, 2011 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | Joe Rinaldi is my pitcher and Stoneman is my manager. We're in!! |
Dec. 28, 2011 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Maybe make it a 5 on 5 league less chance for complaints. E4\E6, I take it you haven't talked to the latter lately. Both are excellent players. Have a Great 2012. |
Dec. 28, 2011 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Last Word..can you own a cell phone and play in this league? |

Dec. 28, 2011 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Does everyone have to have manual windows on there car or.... will someone be checking the lot? |
Dec. 28, 2011 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | Scott, I talked to Joe a week or so before Christmas but havent talked to Steven for sometime. I know they are both high quality players, thats why I want them on my team. =) "Lively Bats and Balls Forever" 5Tools, I can install low $$ power windows for you and make them look like manual cranks. No one will ever know..... |
Dec. 28, 2011 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | E4\E6, You have mail. |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Looks like our new league is off to a great start.Im sure Im leaving out some rules so if anyone has imput feel free to do so, even if you dont play, you can help us out.Thinking about having a state tourney for every state and then just one big NATIONAL tourny.Oh,did I mention that absolutely NO protective gear may be worn at anytime,no need for such manly items. Keep those signups coming. |
Dec. 29, 2011 tinman Men's 50 75 posts | Drop the bordering states rule so you can build a powerhouse that crushes everybody.Award first place only and do not recognize non winners. |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | good idea.So if were going to give every state a tourney we need to get started first week in Jan. so all 50 can have one and have our ONE NATIONAL Christmas week of 012.So do we go to Alabama or Alaska first.Keep those good ideas coming and we will get SSUSA straightened out in a hurry.NEXT |
Dec. 29, 2011 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Make sure we don't have to play to enter any of the complex's and the phrase "thank you" must be banned. |
Dec. 29, 2011 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Pay! haha |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Good stuff.Boy, I really didnt realize how bad SSUSA, SPA, and ISA were until I started my own LEAGUE.Also another rule I forgot..... There will be absolutely no WHINING in the new league.Next |
Dec. 29, 2011 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Tool, after you pay at the box office do you again pay at the door of your particular movie's theater to be allowed to enter? |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Geez, I allmost forgot the most important thing. Since I am going to be playing every weekend on the tour, were going to need a DIRECTOR, someone that doesnt want to play but doesnt mind running rhe show.So I think we should take nominations for the job.Anyone have any ideas on who would be good at that job.Cant pay very much because my entry fees will be less than $100.00 a team, you know like it used to be back in the good ole days.Board is now open for nominations.NEXT |
Dec. 29, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | tg i'm not sure this can work, your putting a whole lot of limitations on us.and your changing things way to much..... |
Dec. 29, 2011 hombre Men's 60 240 posts | Is there any chance that we could use a 16" ball? That way we wouldn't have to use gloves and we could lower the cost of playing ball. |
Dec. 29, 2011 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | 16" balls?? Don't they turn to 'mush' when the temperature gets over 82.7 degrees? I don't know-maddog-how much compression does a 16" ball lose per degree of temperature? There's something else about the 16" ball, but I just can't remember. |
Dec. 29, 2011 GSWP001 Men's 60 75 posts | Seeing we are all getting older, maybe we could use our laser finders to hit with and then our gps to find the bases. I'm in. |
Dec. 29, 2011 ShaneV Men's 55 393 posts | I'll direct and be the water boy. And I'll mop up the blood at home plate and drag away the bodies, with a cart of course. No way I could play this game. ShaneV |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Now Im confused.I thought that this is what 99% of the players wanted,,,the way it used to be.NEXT |
Dec. 29, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Again. Another requirement to play in our NEW league is the most important one of all.You MUST have a college degree with a Masters in BS. NEXT |

Dec. 29, 2011 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | There will prolly be no refreshment stands just the old school drinking fountains. |

Dec. 30, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | webbie the 16" ball holds up pretty good, during testing of said ball by MD laboratories,we froze it,heated it,and even hit it some, with no changing of properties of said ball.i think it would be great to use,as we would need less field to cover, and like hombre says ,no need for a glove as it stays soft for use.did find it was a tad hard to throw any distance but we could roll it like a bowling ball very easy. what do ya think TG,could this be our ball as it does come from way back in time..... |
Dec. 30, 2011 knobbs7 Men's 60 7 posts | I vote no fences, you hit it 420 and the other team has to go get it. |
Dec. 30, 2011 tg69 393 posts | Again, some great ideas.Still looking for nominees for a director.Surely someone has somebody in mind.LAST WORD |
Dec. 31, 2011 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | hey i'll direct,but only if i get to play,so i can do favors for my team...... |
Jan. 2, 2012 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Also no foul ball rule correct? can foul off as many as you want till you get that pitch! |
Jan. 2, 2012 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | 5,only if you have your own ball retriever,or pay the TD extra to go get them(as you see i have applied to be a director),lets say $5 a ball.............oh so as not to delay the game you must have at least 10 back-up balls,i'm a tad slow......... |
Jan. 2, 2012 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Leave the ball retrieving to the bat boys...remember the good ole bat boys? |
Jan. 2, 2012 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Tool, we had a bat boy for four years in the late '70s in Maple AAA and AAAA. The kid did a very good job! |
Jan. 2, 2012 tg69 393 posts | Again,notice how friendly and non agressive my new league post has been.Thats worth a lot.Also good ideas,DOG and 5-TOOL.Wonder why? |
Jan. 2, 2012 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | I am torn on the uniforms for the new league...between the bike shorts or regular pants with stirrups. |
Jan. 2, 2012 tg69 393 posts | Long pants no longer than 2 inches below the knee or shorts 10 inches above the knees with tall white socks, you know, like it used to be.No SPECIAL uniforms for us.LAST WORD |
Jan. 3, 2012 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Gee, I am still out of date, and my wife has been trying to update my clothes since we met 8 yrs ago. :-) Tall white socks like 'they used to be'-you are right-I have worn those since the 70's, but with reason. With my full knee brace it is very uncomfortable to wear pants either over or under the brace and I still dive and slide enough that the tall socks provide some measure of protection to my legs. So I hope they are legal in your league. |
Jan. 3, 2012 tg69 393 posts | Their mandatory, not an option.LAST WORD//////one more word.Is anybody else out there tired of seeing the top 76 football teams in the country play for their championship? Im bored and ready for some SOFTBALL,on the field, not on this stupid machine!!!!!!!!!! |
Jan. 3, 2012 tinman Men's 50 75 posts | Bike shorts[undersized, polyester,no back pockets]Cotton shirts with sleeves and ironed on numbers. If your team is eliminated you can play for any remaining team.Beer coolers permitted in dugouts. |
Jan. 3, 2012 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | My Bike shorts had back pockets. My shirts had sleeves, this is softball not basketball. (confused) |
Jan. 3, 2012 tg69 393 posts | BASKETBALL,Who said anything about BASKETBALL/Hy-jacked again!!!!!!!!!LAST WORD |
Jan. 3, 2012 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | Dont forget the bike shorts MUST have the built in diaper (padding) look, may work well for those sliders. (I have been biking in many forms over the past 30+ years and never had or seen bike shorts with back pockets. Shirts come with or without long sleeves.) |
Jan. 3, 2012 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | If not polyester shirts, you can wear a t-shirt but the number has to be in magic marker...no wife beater t-shirts aloud. |
Jan. 3, 2012 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | I have found Duct Tape works great for numbers too, as it does for everything. Tool, whats wrong with wool? |
Jan. 3, 2012 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | Gee, I still wear my Bike shorts with back pocket, too. They must be 30 yrs old. Maybe my wife is right-it is time to update. tg69-you saw me, you know I'm not kidding. E4/E6- Bike was the brand---not a style for bicycling. But if you bicycle a lot, you learn REAL quickly what the padding is for!!! :-) Wool??? Hilarious! Especially in Phoenix. |
Jan. 3, 2012 E4/E6 Men's 70 873 posts | I do have a few pair of Biking Bike shorts, but none have a pocket, front or rear. Never could get used to the diaper pad, so I switched to Hind brand. I do however use the Bike Brand compression shorts. |
