Dover tourney
The brackets are up for the tourney next week in Dover. We are a 60 major team and are grouped with the 55s. We play one team even up ( must be a triple a team and get 5 runs against a 55 Major team). I do not like to give up 9 years in age to play a tourney. (This is my opinion only not the teams)I would have much rather given the equalizer rule and played in my own age group. There is not much that can be done at this point. I am playing in the 60 division for a reason. I am old and slow if I wanted to play against guys 55 I would be playing in that age group JMO. Look out Pieman here we come. See yunz in Dover. Thanks Harry # 20 NV FORCE

Harry,
Welcome to our world. We had to do this for the last few years. It is not fun and most directors don't understand the age difference.
Good luck,
Donnie

Donnie, Never thought it was fair for you guys either.I did not mind when you guys where combined with the 60 major in Raleigh last year. It was tougher for the major teams to compete but I do think that it was the right thing to do. I guess most everyone has an objection of some sort about combining age groups and divisions at one time or another. It will be good to play again no matter who it is that we play. Thanks Harry

Harry/Donnie,
Here's what we see down here in OK/TX; last year as a 65 Major Plus team we were paired against 60 Major and 60 AAA teams. Neither of those groups wanted to play us. In fact, one team forfeited rather than play us.

This year, I'm playing 60 Major again since there are no 65 Major Plus teams around here now. Now, from what I've heard, some of the 60 AAA teams are telling the TD at our next tourney - Plano next weekend - that they don't want to play us! BTW, this is SPA. Now, they are going to drop us down into the 55s to play the younger guys. What galls me - from what I've heard - is that some teams are, in effect, telling the TDs who they will and will not play. We did play some 60 AAAs in Georgetown a few weeks ago and, with a 5-run spot they received -we beat a couple of them by ONE run! The games were close and competitive and could have gone either way. It just seems no one wants to play anyone in a higher class unless they are FORCED to -like in the Nationals.

LL, Donnie and Harry, same thing here in the Southeast! Teams are telling td's who they will play. Our 60 major plus team has be pitted against 50 teams.

Hey Guys,I cannot believe that teams would not play in a tourney when you are getting runs. The equalizer rule seems to work to some degree. it is not perfect but it does help.

Donnie, When the ISSA dropped Major Plus that put us out of the ball game.We cannot compete with you guys even up. I know for years that you guys had to play a lower division age team. I always thought that your team should have played in the 60 Major but had to give the runs. I did not have a problem with that but to combine them I just cannot handle that. You should not have to play a lower age group team period. When there are two 60 Major plus teams in the same tourney let them play pool games with 60 Major teams and then have a best two out of three. I do not think that 2 Major plus teams should be in bracket play with the other 60 Major teams. Enough for now. Thanks Harry

LL and Bruce,
You guys need to tell the TD just to refund your money. Teams should not be able to decide what teams they will play but the associations don't have the balls to tell these teams to stay at home if they are too scared to play.
No team should have to drop down a age group.
Later and good luck all,
Donnie
