THE LECAK THREAD
Joe, I take whatever you say so seriously you get your own thread.

If you're going to quote me, please get it right. What I said (years ago) was without the lower divisions paying the freight, "...Major Plus teams would be playing home run derby in the parking lot for a case of beer..."

That's still true, by the way. And nice to know you still remember and are quoting me.

But, I digress. Our team has no East/West player exemptions, although we have explored the possibility. Have not found the right fit.

As for Border Rules, we follow the rules as they are posted. When California teams were restricted from adding out of state players, GSF became an AZ team and was able to add CA players...smart thinking by Woody to get around the rule and still stay legit...result? Two World chamnpionship rings in 2009 and 2010. Nifty.

You and I both know Major Plus and Major teams (at least at 60) have only small shades of difference and could be combined easily. The only thing that militates against the combination is the home run rule. Simple equation: too many home runs equals dumb game. Dumb game equals don't want to play it. Dumb game equals managers sandbag to avoid it...and that is the current situation.

I only learned recently Major Plus teams have some of the rule exemptions you are alluding to...I say dump them and make it all one division subject to consistent rules throughout.

Dennis I can't remember everything you have said the web is not a big enough place. You have said so many things my head would explode. Why let exact quotes get in the way of a good story. The bottom line instead of dragging the major teams up of which there are far more than the major plus how about tweaking the major plus to look more like major teams. You could do it with just some minor tweaks. By the way always good to visit with you enjoyed seeing you in Vegas stay healthy.

Your reference to me was/is grossly incorrect. I might offer you the same advice as you gave to Joe... if you intend to include me, get it right.
First of all, the CA border rule was opened in 2006. We added one player from NV who had played in CA for 30 years before retiring in NV. He was a huge addition to our team both as a player and as a person. He played with us through 2011 (although we both left GSF after the 2010 season).
We also added a guy in 2007 who had a job transfer to Reno. He also played 30 + years in So CA prior to that. This was our last season in 55s.
When we became a 60 team (2008) we essentially merged with parts of two other teams (Kidz 4 Ever & Grimes Trucking). Our Nor CAL players stayed in the 55s as did several other SO CA guys. The end result was that the 60 roster had more AZ players than CA or NV players, consequently, we were deemed an AZ team.
This was not our intent. In fact, I wasn't even aware of it until one of our NV guys pointed it out to me (two months after we merged).
We did not 'get around the rule'... we merely abided by it. We won championships before the 2006 season (before the borders opened) and we won afterwards.
So do your research BEFORE you pop off about our intent.

Point taken, Bob. I really didn't think you were that cagey, but some of your minions have elevated your motivation in absentia.

No excuse for getting it wrong, however.

Joe, Google offers several definitions... some of them not so complimentary to me.
If DD uses it to indicate my former GSF teammates, I have not seen any of them stating on here how we 'got around the rule'.
Interestingly, when DD refers to the 2012 GSF team you use the phrase 'we follow the rules as they are posted'.
