SCSSA Wine Country Invitational Results
With absolutely perfect weather in one of the most picturesque settings on the west coast. Teams from as far away as Arizona, Nevada and the Central Coast of California descended on the Temecula Valley to do battle in the 3rd Annual Wine Country Invitational. In the end it was the team from Arizona, GSF, that played giant killer by defeating two of the best teams in 50/55 M/M+ age group, Nighthawks and Westcoast 50s. Hats off to you guys. In the 55 division it was the amazing team from Santa Barbara, The Coasters. Our deepest appreciation goes out to the guys that traveled a great distance to go undefeated in pool play. Only to have wait for what had to seem an eternity as the #1 seed to play in the finals knowing the late game would put them on the road at 7:30 Sunday night. I have driven that road many times from OC to Santa Barbara and we really canít tell you how much ethics and integrity this showed us. You guys not only won the the trophy's but the the character award of the year from us. In the other two divisions the team from Temecula, Grants Posse showed once again that these guys have what it takes to be honest contenders in October for the national 50AAA title. Division 4: You will not believe one of the scores on the way to the title (42-11). This is what OTE posted in the semis to get to the final game. In the finals however it was different story as only 1 run separated R & R and OTE. In a division made up of only 60M teams in the end it would be OTE as the Champs. Only 4 teams could emerge as victors on that sunny Sunday in the Wine Country but to us you're all champions... all of you!

Division 1
Champs GSF
RU Nighthawks

Division 2
Champs Grants Posse
RU Desert Dawgs 50

Division 3
Champs Coasters
RU Desert Dawgs 55

Division 4

Congratulations to GSF,

Looks like you guys are starting to put it all together and become the team everyone thought you would be at the start of the year. But don't get a big head, we are still going to show up and try to kick your B--TT everytime we are in the same tournament. Again congratulations to Steve, Ron, Mark, Mike and the rest of the GSF monsters.

John-thanks for the thoughts. We do look forward to seeing you and playing you in Aurora- 'Monsters??" Whats my wife gonna say??

I'd like to tip my hat to the rest of our team and Coach Hanratty-we did not take the 5 run equalizer and I absolutely loved and agreed with it.

My wife did walk by and see this-she has not stopped laughing and I had to help her off the floor because she was laughing so hard-I may have to sleep in the other bedroom because of the gales of laughter. Kings and Monsters-every time she looks at me when she walks by she cracks up. :-)
