Aug. 11, 2012 Capt Kirk 541 posts | There is some wiggle room in adding players to play in the world championship, see 4.2 (2) in the rule book. Capt |
Aug. 12, 2012 seniorsoftballnut Men's 60 42 posts | Capt Kirk can you tell me what the rule is in brief Please so I don't have to download the whole rule book Thanks Bruce |
Aug. 12, 2012 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Let's let Dave or Terry comment on adding player(s) to a qualifing roster for the world championship because of the complexity of the rule. Couple of things, how many players are on the qualifing roster for the team that you want to play for, what is age and rating of that team. Aug. 12, 2012 SSUSA Staff 3466 posts | There is no need to download the complete Rulebook. A one-page 'white-paper' describing the Roster Addition rules is available from the Rules page and from the link below that should answer almost all of the questions we encounter each year. • Roster Considerations: World Masters 2012 |
Aug. 12, 2012 Capt Kirk 541 posts | But just in case you were unable to find it: LVSSA/SSUSA WORLD MASTERS 2012 • ROSTER CONSIDERATIONS The LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships is the premier event on the SSUSA Tournament calendar. Teams participating in the World Masters must designate a “Qualifying Roster” from a prior SSUSA event to be used as the starting point for their World Masters roster. The SSUSA believes that – a. Participating teams should play at the World Masters with the same roster, or as close as reasonably possible, to the roster they used in their designated Qualifying tournament. There is a ‘level playing field’ only with continuity in roster composition from the Qualifying roster to the World Masters roster; b. Due to a variety of legitimate circumstances, some teams may not be able to bring the exact same players to the World Masters that were on their Qualifying roster; c. There be provisions in the rules to fairly address the roster issues facing some teams; and d. Any team participating in the World Masters with ‘roster exemption players’ should have up to five reserves available on their roster. Thus, teams that add players, and normally play with ten defensive players, will have a roster limit of 15 players, and teams that normally play with 11 defensive players will have a roster limit of 16 players. NOTE: An invited team may have more than 15/16 players on its World Masters roster if that team is not adding ‘roster exemption players’ for the World Masters. “Special Roster Rules” For All Men’s and Women’s Divisions – e. If a participating team has at least 15 (or 16, depending on the number of defensive players normally used) from the original Qualifying roster planning on attending the World Masters, that team is prohibited from adding ‘roster exemption players’; f. If a participating team has less than six players remaining from the original Qualifying roster, that team is considered a ‘new team’ and is not eligible to participate in the 2012 World Masters; g. Managers may request to add players who are regular members of the team, but were not able to attend the Qualifying tournament. Managers must APPLY to SSUSA for approval of these players in writing before September 10, 2012. These players are approved or denied on an individual basis; h. If a participating team's roster falls below 12/13 players, the team MAY APPLY TO ADD players until it reaches the 12/13 player level. These players must be from the SAME age group in the SAME or LOWER skill level. Managers must APPLY to SSUSA for approval of these players in writing before September 10, 2012. These players are approved or denied on an individual basis. i. If a participating team's roster falls below the 15/16 limit, the team will be able to add players until it reaches the 15/16 player level. These players must be from the next OLDER age group in the SAME or LOWER skill level. Managers must notify SSUSA in writing before September 10, 2012, of the players the team is adding; j. Any player from the original Qualifying roster not planning to attend the World Masters and who’s spot on the World Masters roster was filled by a ‘roster exemption player’ is considered removed from the Qualifying roster. That player is not eligible to participate in the World Masters unless a recently added ‘roster exemption player’ is removed from the World Masters roster and the original player is reinstated to both rosters, thereby maintaining the 15/16 player roster limit; and k. Women’s Senior teams and Men’s 80+ teams are generally exempt from these Qualifying roster provisions and may add otherwise eligible (as to age and residency) players to their World Masters roster, up to a maximum of 20 players. ‘Roster Exemption Player’ requests may be sent to the SSUSA by e-mail to info@seniorsoftball.com or by fax to (916) 326.5304. Congratulations to the invited teams and Good Luck in Las Vegas! |
