Best website for titanium necklaces?
I finally found a great website (TitaniumTwisters.com) for those sports rope necklaces. They actually let you customize your necklace with about 50 colors of rope to choose from and they offer more sizes than I've seen from any other company. You customize it, they assemble and ship it within a few days from here in the US. This is the only company I've found that lets you customize. I just did one in my team colors and it turned out really well. Here is a link to their customizing page:

http://www.mysportsarsenal.com/products/view/Titanium%20Twisters

Thoughts? Anyone have any other websites for these that they'd recommend?

Hey Rob,
Do these things really work? if so, what are they supposed to do?

99% of all Major League Players use one type of necklace, bracelet, tape, socks, etc. Phiten is the brand and their products are also used in the NBA, NFL, and soon in the NHL. Phiten is the official MLB supplier for Socks and Arm Sleeves. These other companies are knock offs and you can go to their web sites to see what players use their products, Medical studies, etc. I have been using the Phiten products for 7 years. Reason is they work. Others are wanabees. Go to Phitenusa.com

Dbax...here is what they do for "some" people:

promotes health and fitness
relieves muscle soreness
help with anxiety and anger
increases flexibility
reduces fatigue

I happen to be one of those people that it has helped.........I have been wearing one for over 5 years now.

I sell them and I tell "everyone",it may not work for you.......somethings don't work on everybody, but it has worked and helped me.......that is what I am going by, don't need any swamp land, thank you very much !

I wonder how many of these pro athletes wearing them are being paid to do it. Or at the least are getting them suppied for free. After all, pro sports is starting to more and more resemble NASCAR.

Along time ago I was playing for Mizuno Sports,,,,,,,Ricky Henderson was wearing Mizuno Shoes, wrist bands and batting gloves....one game I was watching he had black tape covering up the Mizuno logo on his shoes. I called the big man at Mizuno and ask what that was all about, he said watch the game tomorrow, and I did,,,all the lohgos were present, he said he call Henderson personally and said show the logo or you will be pulled from representing Mizuno.at that time he was only making about $25,000.00 a year to represent Mizuno !
All of you wise asses, all I am saying is that they work for me.And Gary19, my "size" is a lot bigger than your brain !

Perhaps it is me, though I doubt it, what are you trying to communicate with your Rickey Henderson story? Truth is, athletes are paid ALL the time to wear/endorse products. How many of the guys you referenced are being paid? How many wear it for NO compensation?

Gary19, you ask how many pro athletes wearing them are being paid.......I just told you they don't get paid as much as you think they do and Henderson was an example. !

But they are being paid something.

And where did I say what I think they are receiving for you to say they don't get as much as I think? I had no numbers in mind, yet you came to that conclusion.

My simple point is just because they are wearing them does not necessarily mean they truly believe in them as much as are taking money to wear something that at least is not harming them. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

And I stil am, for the simple fact that those who are being paid clearly have another motive for wearing them beyond how well they allegedly work. So, again simple, you saying that 99% of all Major League Players use one type of necklace, bracelet, tape, socks, etc. is NOT the endorsement you wanted to make it appear.

All I can say is that I had Tommy john surgery and also tendon transfer surgery on my wrist and thumb. I used to take asprin, IB profin, whatever to help with the aches. Since wearing my Phiten products I no longer take them. Call it memntal or whatever, It worked for me. As for BS why don't you ask the MLB players why the went to Phiten socks? No they do not get paid to wear them but they seemed to help their feet and they requested them over the other brands they were using. Anything that can safely help me get through another season and feel better I will use. Not big into putting chemicals or pain killers into my body. If you don't believe they help then don't use their products. By the way Randy Johnson first started using the Phiten products many years ago when he was in Japan getting Accupuncture treatments. Remember when they thought accupuncture was a lot of bunk also? Who knows, but if it helps me I will continue to use.

"No they do not get paid to wear them"

How exactly do you know this? Some of us are curious. Well, I know I am.

"they requested them over the other brands they were using."

Again, sources please.

"Remember when they thought accupuncture was a lot of bunk also? "

I am almost 56 and have yet to know a soul who has had accupuncture. Plenty who have had surgeries, take pain relievers, anti-inflammatories, use ice and heat, warmup and stretch. But none who have used accupuncture. So I am not really very sure how prevalent it still is, or ever was.

The reason I know is that I work with pro athletes and the products that many of them use. The last official supplier of socks to the MLB was a company called Twin City Knitting. Torrey Hunter was the first to put in a request for Phtien socks and others followed with requests to their equipment managers. I don't want to get into all these technicalities but if people use the products and like them, so be it.
As far as accupuncture, it is used all over the United States and other countries by many people. I have known several people who have used it and with some it works better than others. I have to get back to work so no more info today. Meeting with the Denver Broncos today to work on some products. It is my business and just another job until I retire next year.

I never said that many don't wear them, I have no idea and you probably don't either. I was just trying to inform the less-informed on how these things work, and to be leery of how many of those 99% are paid endorsers.

Gary19, it doesn't surprise me that many pro athletes are using titanium products. Athletes are known to be more superstitious than most humans, and will quickly glom onto any new product that supposedly helps if used regularly. Remember 10 years ago, it seemed like everyone was wearing copper? It's been debunked so often, that you seldom see a copper bracelet anymore. I'm like you—I'm now playing in my 60th consecutive season with no problems other than the occasional broken bone, and I've never taken any supplements (unless you consider ibuprofen a supplement). Never underestimate the power of a placebo.

A friend of mine was all excited about the phiten necklace that he had bought.Told me because of the necklace he had more energy. So I bought one and wore it religiously.I did not fell the energy that he did. That was five years ago.I eventually stop wearing it.This year I was told that I have arthritis in my ankle from a break from thirty years ago.I have been experiencing pain for a lot of years but this year was the worst.I was at a flea market a month ago where a lady was selling necklaces made of magnets I put one on and right away I could fell the hair on my legs standing up.I bought it.Not all the pain went away but the pain lessen quite a pit.The first ball game that I played after that day was remarkable I actually ran the bases for the first time with almost no pain.Since then I wear the magnet necklace around my neck and I rap the phiten around my ankle all the time day and night with no pain. One night I forgot to wear the phiten to bed and woke up with some discomfort. The lady that I bought the magnet necklace told me that the magnet helps the oxygen flow through your blood better. Why the phiten didn't work for me before I don't know, but the combination works for me now. I hope this info can help some else.

Everyone can have an opinion and cite personal experience: worked or didn't. Until there is a double blind study there is no proof and yes there is a placebo effect, that has been proven.

I played ball with Scrappy for many years. I hurt myself when I was not training properly for sprints. I also had Tommy Johns and Rotator Cuff surgeries. Mike introduced me to Phiten Products and I have worn my Phiten necklace for many years. Since wearing it, I feel that it helped reduce the pain I had been experiencing. I know Scrappy to be a straight shooter, an honest businessman and a quality person. If you ask him a question, he will answer it honestly and fairly.

I would not hesitate to work with and buy Phiten Products from Mike Massong. Nuf Said!!!

I believe that most of these so call aids are mental aids or fashion. Most athletes are followers. Basketball players wear compression shorts and compression sleves. In past times no one wore these and they played just as well, but after one player started wearing them they all followed. Now #6 wears a titanium necklace and it helps him in many ways, but he believes it helps him and therefore it does. Baseball and softball players are very superstitious and sometime it helps them if they do silly things.

Just something of interest:

While many sports stars believe the necklaces give them luck, not everyone is convinced. Many doctors and scientists say there is no scientific evidence supporting Phiten’s theory. “There’s no science and physiology,” said Dr. Orrin Sherman, chief of sports medicine at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases. “There’s just no way the chemical structure of the body can be influenced by magnets that small. It’s all superstitions with no scientific basis.”

Sherman noted that when people interact with magnets far more powerful than the Phiten necklaces, like the magnets in a CT (computerized tomography) scan machine, for instance, they do not report any of the effects pitchers and quarterbacks say they receive from the necklace. But while the physiology behind the necklaces doesn’t hold up to scientific scrutiny, that doesn’t mean they do not help. Athletes are a superstitious lot. From Craig Biggio, who did not wash his batting helmet for an entire season, to Wade Boggs, who would only eat chicken before games, athletes love all manners of hokum and voodoo. If the players think they are getting an advantage from the necklace and that gives them increased confidence, then they do in fact get a positive boost from the product. “You’ve gotta believe in placebo effect,” said Sherman.

So maybe science shouldn’t stop Hideki Okajima of the Boston Red Sox from wearing three necklaces whenever he takes the mound. Sure, the necklaces don’t actually alter the electric flow in the body, but as any player who has stopped shaving during the playoffs can attest, when you’re winning, you don’t want to change a thing.

There is suspicion in my mind but only Clemens knows if he took steroids or not Webbie. I remember Marion Jones vigorously denying she took any substances as did Lance Armstrong. Look what happened to them. Irregardless, Clemens had a classic power arm with a nasty splitter.
Now I don't believe for one second Nolan Ryan ever took steriods.

I wore one faithfully for 2 years due to a herniated disc in my neck. Thought that it was helping with circulation. Took it off a year ago and nothing changed. IMO placebo effect. Neck pain and stiffness come and go, no difference from when I was wearing the Phiten. Looked good though.
