What did you do in your last at bat?
With the end of the world in two days, it is a good time to reflect on your career. I've been blessed with 44 years of slow pitch softball and have been playing some kind of baseball or softball since I was 5. We are all blessed to still be able to play and compete.

And I did hit a home run my last at bat of 2012!! LOL

SSUSA Lansing Tournament end of August. I just found out I needed knee surgery on the Thursday before the tourney started.

Played on it Friday and Saturday anyway (like a ding dong), and should not have been playing. I asked to be benched Sunday, just wasn't shifting my weight well when swinging, and couldn't run.

Miken44's coach let me pinch hit in 6th inning of losers bracket game Sunday AM we were losing by about 8 at the time. Probably still shouldn't have played, BUT>>>

I hit a double 322 1/2 feet off 323 fence and hopped (literally) to 2nd base.

Unfortunately we lost wild game in 9 innings, something like 38-37 with winning runs on base.

9:00AM game set whole tournament back, I think game was over around 11:35AM

I shut it down until my surgery in September.

Tom I have seen you hit, and never, never have I seen you hit anything less then a 26 hopper, never. Killing of the worms I agree with.

Webbie I figure that if The Mayans were so good at predicting the future there would still be Mayans around today. =)

Weather's getting worse, so today might have been my last game before December 21, although I know it will be a bogus fear because I have already bought several gifts for Christmas.

In my last at bat, late in the game, I hit a sharp grounder to the shortstop who couldn't make a clean field, and I had an extremely fast runner ahead of me on first. He beat the throw to second and there was no way they were going to get me at first. Not a great hit, but it put two on with nobody out. I later scored, but for nought since we still lost when the other team put on an offensive display in the last inning.

E4/E6-i figure the guy making the calendars got tired of it and retired. End of story. He probably knew it would drive some of us crazy.

well for senior league, went out in a bang, last 2 at bats were hrs, with last one a walk off winner,oh with the 52/300 ASA ball too.both were no doubters.....now for the young guys just a basehit(this is a no hr league).....

tourney wise (huntmans) long fly to left center,5' more would had a hr,but a little tired after 12 games in 5 days with most of them in 90-100 degree temps...........

Good topic Mark and it seems more important to me now that our team has shut it down for next year. Last tournament i played was the Worlds in Vegas: Last two games i was 4-4 against Hollis (world champions -- very good team and group of guys) and then 4-4 against i think Jim & Joes. Did not know at the time that those would be my last two games in Senior softball for awhile. I will miss the game and all the guys on our team and the friendships i have made. Hope everyone has a great holiday season, stay safe.

My last at bat in 2012 was a line drive base hit in the sixth inning of the semi-final game of the Dan West Memorial tournament. My team lost 19-17. I had played against Dan West for years and he was an excellent softball player. More importantly, he was a great guy. Having a tournament in his honor says it all. Before the final game, each player was introduced and came out of the dugouts with a rose that they presented to Dan's widow Brenda. What a special day.

My last at bat was a "screamin mimi" line drive - in the dark - slicing - hooking - dropping - that somehow the LCF for FMSI caught!! Eliminated my team from Ft Myers. Still thinking about that!!

My last hit to date was an opposite field homer via PS3. Considering I have a few more days left this year, I am sure I might have a few more swings coming.

PS3 is a video game Webbie, I am sitting my fat butt in the house until after new years.

I asked Dawn since the end of the world is tomorrow if she wanted to go out with a bang...wink wink...she handed me a pan and a wooden spoon...go ahead and start without me...I have got to learn woman speak.

I know I will get hooked on video games, so I don't play them. Patti laughs at the low tech person she married. I asked her the same and she said "Sure, I've got a few seconds to spare."

Yahoo: the world didn't end. I get to more weekends of softball and beer drinking before the year ends. In the 60's today next weekend supposedly the same.

My last at bat in 2012 took place at the Huntsman Senior Games in St. George, UT. For the first time in my 46-year softball career, I was intentionally walked because the other team didn't want to face me. I about had a heart attack. In my previous at bat, I had hit a bases loaded triple, and, just before that,a grand slam, inside-the-park, home run. I wish I could say that I do both on a regular basis, but that wouldn't exactly be truthful. I know what you're thinking. "That guy should retire". You might be right, but I'm having too much fun to do that.

we were in a tourney at Viginia beach....we were getting killed and it was the 5th inning...the other team "let" us hit as a courtesy....I figured it was my last at bat in a beautiful city and what the heck.....i had aleady ripped two doubles down the third base line and was feeling good...the guy before me tried yanking one out and topped it for a single...I figured it was my turn and took my swing...the pitcher was a line drive, flat ball pitcher so i had to really dip my back shoulder and hit a laser over left field fence....it was our fifth run of the inning so THAT was the last at bat of the tourney for us and I felt the weekend ended with a bang...so it wasn't a total loss and gave us something to talk about
