Coach Phyllis Ethridge
Jan. 1, 2010
She was a grand ole gal... have played ball with and against her since the 1960s forward - in between our child bearing and raising stint(s). Both seeing fastpitch all the way through to it's demise and eventually winding up in slow-pitch.Tough-Tough Catcher and good 1B in our fastpitch years. Had a very good 'stick'.
Her memorial was grand.
Mariachis played at the Catholic Mass and her big family hosted a large catered Mexican food luncheon at their ranch property outside Tucson. My unofficial count just from the filled church seats was more than 400 folks and I know that so many did not go to the service. She was so very well liked. Among those attending were softball players (ALL ages) - her golfing buddies and acquaintances - sports directors 'n umpires- Workers from Tucson City Parks and Rec. - All her professional lifelong 'professional' associates. She had so many nursing friends, doctors etc. She was very active in her 'professional' career much past her retirement. There were the myriad's of many friends she made during her tenure here on our Earth.
