EAST TEAMS WIN 7, WEST GET 6 US NATIONAL TITLES

Dec. 1, 2010 – Senior Softball-USA

PHOENIX – The perennial debate about whether East or West teams are stronger appears to be settled – at least for 2010.

Four teams won the Triple Grand Slam: the top achievement of the sport for the year.

Two are from the East and two are from the West.

And in the 13 US National Games (pitting Eastern National Champions against Western National Champions), seven teams from the East won and six from the West.

Spot Bar & Grill of Washington and PDR/ Fastsigns of Oregon were the Triple Grand Slam winners in the West, while Florida Legends and Center for Sight were winners from the East.

Some of the contests were very close.

Spot Bar & Grill narrowly defeated the Bay State Bombers of Massachusetts, 17-16, in the 55 AAA US National game.

The Florida Legends / Human Kinetics beat WE Ruth Realty 65s of Washington 21-15 in the National Game and two powerhouses in the 80s division faced off in that National game.

Center for Sight surprised the normally strong Tiodize D-99 team from California to win the Nationals 26-14.

In another close US National game, the Syracuse Cyclones of New York beat Idaho Softball 15-13.
