Dec. 1, 2011
SACRAMENTO – Senior Softball-USA has hired Corky Pellien, one of the best known personalities in softball in America, as its National Sales Representative. "We are very excited that Corky will be joining us at Senior Softball- USA," said Terry Hennessy, chief executive officer, “I can’t think of a better representative for us – or for the sport.”Pellien, 49, a former pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates and major softball player, has become one of the most well-known promoters of softball in the past 13 years as a sales representative for Miken Sports. Miken has been a major SSUSA sponsor for more than a decade.
“When Miken decided to discontinue direct sales, we jumped on the opportunity to hire Corky and buy the well-known Miken truck,” said Hennessy. The truck is being re-fitted to promote Senior Softball-USA and Pellien plans to be taking the truck to 17 Senior Softball-USA events in 2012 starting with the Tournament of Champions in Florida in February. SSUSA officials said the move was part of an overall national promotion of the sport planned for 2012.
Pellien and his wife Erin are from San Marcos, Texas, near Austin. He has two sons, Jordan, 26, and Major, 6. Corky can be reached by cell phone at (512) 644-1864.
