July 4, 2013 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Just had complete hip replacement. My wife had it done at Ballard Orthopedics in Sesttle, Dr Phil Downer. 45 minutes process. She was up and walking with assistance within 3 hours. Walked up stairs the next day and went home. Same procedure, anterior method. No muscles are cut. I can't say enough good things about it. |

June 3, 2013 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Reno 60's R & R and Fans are a class act. We played them 4 times during the tournament and split. We were beyond gassed, after 6 straight games it's all a blur!!! |
June 3, 2013 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Reno 60's #6,Reyes did not make the championship game. They lost to R&R and then to ARO Glass. ARO won 8 straight loser out games to double dip R&R. |
April 23, 2013 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Seeding Games My 2 cents. Eliminate the double loser bracket and make it 3 game seeding. With 3 game seeding you take some of the guess work out of the bracket play. i.e there would not be as many 3-0 teams as there are 2-0 teams. The losers bracket is way too big !!!! Give points ( minus runs against) to teams that have placed in other SSUSA tournaments. For example If you win Westerns or Eastern Nationals the team would receive points in the form of runs against for seeding at Worlds. Taits, Aro played Enviro-Vac in almost every local and National tournament we went to last year. Good Guys but tough to beat. I believe at Worlds there were 38 teams. It was much more "fun" to play teams from the South, Midwest and East. |
April 23, 2013 local | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Reno fields Any truth to the rumor there will be no games in Carson city this year for Rock in Reno ?? |
March 30, 2013 local | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: SSUSA April Opener, Regional Athletic Complex, Lacey WA April 13-14 Aro Glass will "Be" there as always, Shane puts on a good tournament. |

Dec. 9, 2012 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Miniscus surgery Had 2 torn meniscus fixed in late January and played a tournament in early March. No big deal but I worried about it before hand. My knee has never felt better. |
Dec. 1, 2012 local | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: WESTERN WORLDS 2013 When are dates and location for Westerns going to be decided?, Aurora was great. Another great complex is the RAC in Lacey WA. Weather is perfect that time of the year. |
Nov. 26, 2012 local | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Thoughts for the upcoming SSUSA Rules Committee meeting! Something SSUSA should consider to improve attendence at Westerns and other regional tournaments is to award points to teams that place. These points would be used for seeding in World tournaments. A team that wins Westerns or Easterns etc.. should be seeded in the top five at Worlds. Another way to do this would be to have the winner of Rock n Reno seeded #1 at Worlds. Winners of Westerns or Eastern Nationals be awarded 2nd and 3rd seeds. Winners of other SSUSA tournaments be awarded other high seeds. Make these tournaments count for something. You could also give points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at these tournament and than use those points at Worlds for run against or whatever. |
Nov. 4, 2012 local | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Playing in Hawaii I am going to be over in Hawaii the week of their tournament. I will bring a glove if there is a team from the mainland going that needs an extra player. I can play some outfield etc. Can hit with a little power. Just want to meet some locals so I can learn where to surf, snorkel, fish etc.. and have fun. Would trade a fishing trip there for a Salmon/Steelhead trip on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. I play on a decent AAA 60. |
Oct. 16, 2012 local | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: World results I noticed the results from Worlds have been posted. Is SSUSA going to post the bracket results ? I like to see what other teams did that we played or that kicked our butts. |
Oct. 16, 2012 local | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs Let's take this whole issue one more step. What happens to the poor guy that can hit home runs and according to some of you needs to play Major if there are no major teams within 500 miles of where he lives? In the great Northwest there is (1) Major 60's team, Ruth. So you want this guy to play major because he hits the ball too hard. Where is he suppose to play ? Should he play with his friends for the enjoyment of the game or should he travel to California to be with a team of people he does not know ? Or we can just call him out if he hit's the ball too hard. That really makes sense. Leave the HR rule alone it wasn't a deal breaker at Worlds for the 60's. 3 hr's and the rest are walks. |
Oct. 12, 2012 local | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs I don't think we have every played against a AAA 60's team that hit 18 hr in one game. We have 3 or 4 players that can dong it. They don't always do it in the same game but there are times when it does happen. We have never had a double digit home run game. I consider us "normal guys". Oct. 12, 2012 local | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs JamesLG, Your are correct. It was the hit he will always remember. We all signed the ball for him and bought him a soda and hot dog like our dad would if we hit one out during our little league games. |
Oct. 12, 2012 local | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA Home Runs #19, I said many times a hitter that changes his swing ends up going up the middle. There is no study ? It's just the way it is. Yes we average 6 hr's a game at this tournament. I said " the ball traveled" others agreed. Our smallest player hit the only HR of his life. In fact he started to run all of the bases because he had never been there before. When you really "study" this it comes down to this. We hit 3 Hr's a game and the rest were one base, no advancing the runner singles ! Where is the advantage to that ? How does that make us a Major team ? We didn't even place in the top 6. |
