Discussion: We're simply amazed it's come to this...

It appears that they have been given numerous opportunities to change their rhetoric. It also seems like the majority has heard enough......if you have the ability SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Once problem, solved players with good intentions can continue to respectfully debate without the rambling chatter.

Discussion: Looking to Join 60's Tournament/Travel Team

I'm 62 years old and live in Asheville, NC. Just got started back playing again last year in rec. ball. Played in a senior tournament and enjoyed experience and would like to get back to travel ball, would like one to two tournaments a month.

I play 1st base and possibly some outfield, deecent speed, hit around 750 in rec. with some HR's. If anyone is intersted please give me a call to discuss at 828 260 2130 or 828 898 8438.

I would be willing to travel to show my abilities to play on a competetive team....on my dime. At that point we could both decide if there is a fit.

Thanks in advance for consideration.

Sonny

Discussion: combat centenarian

I'm just getting back into softball, played in two touraments and only have seen one other combat...talked to the guy and he loved his. Seems most guys are using the Ultra's, it would be nice to get some feedback from guys that have used both.

Also the durability on the Combat is to be determined and the Ultra's seem to go around 200 hits, based on what I have read.

I have had mine for 6 weekks and the ball flies off the bat...line drives too hot too handle...HR's 30 feet further than my u trip bat. Played with kids this weekend hit several HR over 350'. Dont't know how compaares to Ultra....all I knoww it explodes off this bat. I'M 62 and hitting with kids....there threating to have me tested.

Based on my reps., which is 500, I would highly recommend this bat.

Discussion: ASA Bats/warranty/cold weather

I recently asked about recommendation for ASA bat. I'm also looking to play in colder weather and would prefer to buy one bat for both.
Came across Clapbat on ebay...this is an alloy bat with full warranty regarless of weather. Spoke with owner and it sounds like a great product. You can go to ebay type in clapbat and then go to utube link, I think you find it intersting.

Has anyone tried this bat or have an opinion on it, it sells for $149.00 on e bay.

Discussion: What Do You Think

I feel the defensive players need to take advantage of the equipment available to protect them, if the senior nat is being used,I realize it is not the macho things to do, maybe it should be mandatory to some extent.
The other point I would like to make is to the senior bats. I played a game three weeeks ago in a rec. legue with the kids and hit a Miken MV out of the, probably went 340....someone in the stands brings me a Combat Cent. and next time up I hit that ball out probably went 330, a line drive. I was stunned by the velocity of the ball leaving the bat. I bought one and use it because it is legal in my league and I'm hitting over 900 with it but the velocity concerns me for the fielders, not as much in the rec. league because I'm playing against 20 yr. olds but more so with seniors, we don't have the same reflexes we once had.
The point is I think we need to keep the pace moving with a live ball so we can score runs....who wants watch or play a 6-5 game.
Maybe a USSSA/ASA bat is enough, for us as well.
Guys that hit HR with senior bats can still hit it out, if they hit it solid, isn't that the way it should be.
I will end with this since I got the senior bat, when I hit it out or drill a line drive it is no longer my ability, ITS THE BAT, in the opinion of others. They forget that I hit out with the Miken MV.

Discussion: Blowing up the middle in Senior Softball - are screens next???

Omar, this is my first year at senior ball and I have not hit a pitcher yet....but I did come awful close last weekend and it bothered me, and that is why I joined the conversation. I also realize that the pitchers do not have complete control over their pitches and when I have to hit an outside pitch, I'm trying to hit it out to right center....but as I did this last weekend I pulled it a little, and it went up the middle. I totally respect the pitchers and with these hot bat/ball combination I feel they should where the protective gear to avoid an unintended shot up the middle. I would hope that no one intentionally trys to hit a pitcher but incidents will happen.. by accident.
But I have had pitchers that have enough control that they throw a lot of outside pitches and they are aware they are raising the odds of getting hit...hopefully unintetionally. If you are one of those wear the gear.

I don't have as much control as to the exact location of where I'm hitting the ball....I just try to drive the ball, if the pitcher throws it outside he needs to prepare himself for the obvious and not complain about the outcome. I would never want to hurt someone but that is realty.

Thanks for the imput, I'm swinging endload and thinking about going balanced since I was swinging a balanced same weight as mine and it seemed lighter. Do you think this is typical of endload vs. balance. I have also always subscibed to going lighter, using bat speed theory, but I'm noticing a lot of the guys going heavier, with balanced I may be able to do that. I appreciate your comments since I'm just getting introduced to playing with kids my age.

Discussion: Evil BP Ball

Does anyone have an opinion on the the white/orange Evil batting practice ball which is a 48/425 versus the Evil green/orange BP ball which is a 52/300. They are out of stock until 7/20 on the 48/425 and wondered if they are worth waiting on......thought the 52/300 may be too soft.
