Discussion: Runs for lower ranking teams

When giving up runs (5) to a lower ranking (AAA-AA) team in the seeding round, does that count when adding up runs allowed for pool play seeding or is it subtracted from the higher ranking team for pool play ranking?

Discussion: new ratings in December

The ratings changed in Dec. for a few teams.
Please post what changes are made of each age bracket as SSUSA
had done before. I'm sure you contacted those involved but it would be nice to see a published account for all to see.

Discussion: Ratings

Saw a thread on another ratings discussion board with no response.
How the TD's sit at a desk at the ball parks and enter scores on the board there. They also have laptops there.
Then take a picture and send it off to whomever at SSUSA Headquarters to be documented. I see that there maybe only one person that can enter the scores at SSUSA because they have the only program that can do that. If there is too much on their plate then give the program to others who can enter the scores.
Maybe even the TD's at the ball parks?
*ERRORS OCCUR and since OUR RATINGS go by the scores and other issues then let there be no confusion.
*Yes the managers should have them but when the managers and SSUSA have conflicting scores that were not enter on the sight then conflicting issues occur.
We do pay for this information in our entry fees and registration, right? Thank you!

Discussion: Doc Romero

Staff, since it looks like you didn't use the facility,
was this just an observation?
Looked at he master field and game schedule did not see
that Doc Romero was used at the Southwest in Vegas.
Just noting that port-potty used by our wives is a little tough.
Yes, they can leave the park just for that purpose but for $695.
hope the fields are as good as advertised and stay that way with
all the games to be played there. Looking forward to meeting all those who traveled a long distance for this Great Tourney.
Thank you!

Discussion: Doc Romero

Was wondering about Doc Romero.
Haven't played there for a while.
1. Still have the short field in the middle( yardage is?).
2. What are the playing fields like now (grass dirt turf).
Remember that they weren't that great and
no concession stand, rest rooms were terrible.
Thank you for any input!

Discussion: What we got for winning National Championship

The interesting issue is that the T-shirts cost $15.00 to buy at the parks and the trophy $$. Now for $600 plus dollars the privlage to play out of state teams seems to be the only incentive.
The officiating was weak, some parks were deplorable, and the costs were high.
Looks like Huntsman may get some more teams next year.
I'm sure thats why the change with Arizona and Nevada may have come about. Since Arizona was getting less teams because of Huntsman. But now I think the advantage is now back to the Huntsman with the issues that Vegas has created.
No bags donated and so no money was allocated out of the $600 plus. Interesting hey!
Heard that the officiating was going further and a seperate organization maybe in the works after the issues that were brought up.

Discussion: SO WHAT DO WE GET OTHER THEN PLAYING FOR $675.00 PER TEAM IN VEGAS

The other qualifiers almost look the same.
$525 or more with patches and also some great grab bag
gifts most likely donated or cost of $8-10 and then of course options to BUY RING.Now that we are playing almost the same teams over and over again IN THE QUALIFIERS let's at least get a better bang for the very important dollars spent to get to and stay at all tourneys chosen by the SSUSA.
THE T-SHIRTS AND POLO SHIRTS YOU HAVE TO BUY AT THE TOURNEYS HAVE MORE VALUE THAN THE AWARDS GIVEN OUT AT THE QUALIFIERS. INTERESTING HEY!!!
I QUESS WE HAVE TO MAKE ENOUGH TO GIVE OUT THE FREE RINGS FOR TOC AND THIS WORLD TOURNEY.

Lets lobby for Winter Worlds and TOC to change locations or at least change back and forth each year now that the Worlds are set in Vegas. Can't hurt either location in the long run. At least have SSUSA entertain it.

Discussion: JAN. 2012 HELP

Try Menifee, Ca tourney 7-8 for 60's or 14-15 for 55's.
Stay in Hemet where motels are very reasonable. About a 20 to 25 minute drive to the ball park in Menifee. Put on by SSUSA.
Know it's about a five hour drive for you but it's a good tourney and park. Get more info from Don Redigg. Weather usually good there for some reason.Donnie will give you the best info about what divison and date would best be good for you.

Discussion: Results

LOL, the idea is to realistic. The probability of the answer being that our entry fee does not cover the cost is usually the response. Of course at the games you usually have two to three reps from the SSUSA there and the cell phone to exchange info to put into a computer would be an answer. I say this because you probably would only have one puter at a given tournament. Not all sights will have a puter available.
The hope that the SSUSA would use this idea may be thinking outside the box and input from teams and players who support this association may give it added attention. It's not difficult to start it at the next tourney without authorization.
Again, open for input by all.
How about it SSUSA?

Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ok, So Cal locations to look at.
Hemet, Diamond Valley Sports Complex, with 8 fields that are to die for. Very well kept. Yes, a small town but thats ok too. Motel rates reasonable with a lot of eateries.
Temecula a 20 minute drive to another Super Complex, Birdsall sports park with 4 diamonds. The motel rates run higher here.
You always have Lancaster, call the Super Eight, were a lot of ASA ball is played, but the fields don't compare to the ones in Hemet and Temecula. The weather would be a little cooler too.
Just a thought for the So Cal locations with not just good but great ball parks to play on.
Now, try to get No Cal to travel to play is another story.

Discussion: High tourney entry fees and weak prizes...

Ok, finally some real action may be in order.
Let us see if the SSUSA can send to every manager playing in the RENO tourney a breakdown of expense to justify awards either given of not given at this tourney.
The managers paying this entry fee should be able to get answers for their entry. Or are there some new rules that may keep the organization from printing this out to participating teams.
To much to ask for, may be the answer we may get!
The love of the game is what keeps us coming back. Let's spend some of the monies on the participating teams.

Discussion: California Championships

Ok, look at the new tourneys that are being held in Temecula, Hemet and maybe Lake Elsinore. The new complex in Lake Elsinore may be up in 2011. The complex in Temecula is about a 30 minute drive to the Hemet Complexes. Almost the same senerio as Woodland and Davis.
To those of you who are traveling to these complexes this year, you are well aware of fields. It would be easy to say they are very nice. The weather is good. The officiating has been very good. The balls fly.
The only thing I would suggest to the Temecula group is to try real hard to get room rates that would entice groups to travel. Some of the tourneys are now qualifiers for the SSUSA and should show the SSUSA that this is a very nice place to hold the Cal Cup.

Discussion: New Temecula and Hemet Tourneys

Great tourney held in June in Temecula.
Fields were superb.
Awards were cash based.
Officiating was also very good with officials accually moving from behind the plate to the middle of the diamond to make calls.
Weather, while in the 90's to 100's in most areas, was in the low 80's with a marine wind.
Look up socalssa.com for more info on future tourneys.

Discussion: Cheap awards given out in Reno

How about playing on the coast in Santa Maria, Morro Bay with awards a plenty and a working TD on sight at all times to talk to. Not only competitive brackets but a very good bang for you buck. There are other locations just look at eteamz.com/mensfpc/news/

Discussion: New Tourneys To Try

Southern Cal and Central Valley have started some choices for the senior softball teams. socalssa.com and eteamz.com/mensfpc are the webs to check out. Check out the ball fields from the south in socalssa. The eteamz sight has a lot of games on the coast for those wanting 70 degree weather rather than 100 degree weather in the summer. Before the comments at least try it before you judge it. I think you all will come back.

Discussion: Nor cal and So cal

Look for tournaments in Santa Maria (2), Morro Bay (3), Paso Robles (2), Tulare and Hanford areas next year.
Some teams from Northern Cal showed up and a good amount of teams from Southern Cal showed up. The TD was Ike Pursell and he balances the tourney entries to insure the competition is as equal as possible. The NCSSA has his web sight availalbe for the Fresno area. Contact him for his entire schedule.

Discussion: Balls in Manteca tourney this weekend

Ok, since all this was said why didn't the teams play in Paso Robles this weekend (26-27 Sept)? Great fields and tourney. He had room for teams but as usuall the north stayed north.
Look for the tourney line up for 2010(12 plus) from Ike out of Fresno. Contact him he runs great tourneys (balls, officals, balanced divisions and listens to what teams would like).
Those of you who have played in them, don't be affraid to comment.
