Our current team (BIG 55 Major) plan on splitting squads for the upcoming season following the TOC. Both teams plan to play at the same level for next year. Contact me at 585-752-8210 if another team would like to merge or if any individual players have interest.

Discussion: Re-Rated without playing a tournament

I feel your pain. This seems very similar with the 55 Major Plus rating for Genesee Rochester. We participated in Fort Myers in the 50 Major Division and went 3-3. That was considered "too competitive" for us to play 55 Major this year. We would have to give 55 Major teams 5 runs per game for this year, and many of those teams beat us "straight up" last year. One huge problem seems to be the number of players that have played in other age divisions (50's) to help another local team, and then they do well which boosts your original 55 team to Major Plus status. The best remedy as far as I am concerned is to let teams like Sports Center WIN first before moving them up.

Discussion: Winter World Championships Results

Quicker posting of scores can help managers figure out if reclassification is worthwhile. After looking at the Winter Worlds results, I knew my team played too well and would not be classified. Posting the scores more quickly would have saved me time and energy, I could have been working out in the gym instead of typing to George!

Discussion: SSUSA Opens Northeast Region

Since our Rochester team was moved up to 55-Major Plus (again without winning a tournament), this allows our "local" team to select "real" Major plus players from this entire region. We will discuss this at our team meeting on Sunday. Maybe we will attempt to "play with the big boys!"

Discussion: Appeal process

SSUSA reclassified our team back to 50-major based on performance, even though we din not play worlds in 2012. We did not EARN the right to move up to 55-Major Plus, someone in SSUSA decided we should play at that level. Our goal is to compete for a world title again with our original Rochester roster at the major level. Now if we had the desire to use the new New York state boundaries and add the New England major plus players, and also add Canada, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey players too, then our goal would be to "LOAD UP" and go to Vegas at the Major Plus level and kick some butt. That is not what we have in mind, we just wanted to compete with our local guys and do it at the level we played the past few years. Let us win something to EARN our promotion.

Discussion: Appeal process

Your appeal process appears to be a "Major" waste of time. Does it seem right that a team (Genesee Rochester) who hasn't won an SSUSA tournament since winning the 2011 Worlds in Phoenix has been moved up to Major Plus? I really don't care that your form-letter response said the +5/-5 rule differential was the reason we have to play at 55 Major Plus. Let us win a tournament first, and then I would have no problem playing at that level, just like we did in 2012 when we earned the automatic move to the next level. It also states we could re-apply after 3 tournaments and basically paying a total of $1800. No thanks!

Discussion: Fairness in Ratings

This discussion is related to when teams are splitting into 2 separate age groups for the next year. It seems logical that newer teams that move up will be "younger" than the current teams, but their playing ability, especially by defensive position will probably determine their success more than their average age. Starting new teams at AAA level allows each individual team to be moved later up or down based on team performance.

Discussion: Teams splitting after Vegas

Can SSUSA prepare some sort of questionnaire to give to registered teams in Vegas concerning the outlook for that team for the NEXT year. For example, my current 55-major team will be possibly splitting into 2 teams because we have 9 players turning 60, and 5 left. Who determines where both teams will be classified next year? I think the manager of the existing team should have the best idea of what level each NEW team should start. Any opinions?
