Suggestion: Major/Major Plus use any bat. AAA no composite. AA no composite or double wall/ or so call not bats. And allow AA to play 1 up rule. The bats are the differance makers. If you want to hit the hot bats move your butt in with the big boys. His would get the almost Major players out of AAA and a lot of the AAA teams out of AA. And this would allow a market for all bats.

Discussion: Playing with bats banned by ASA

Our league has a wide range of ages so we did ban several hot bats. I think in our case it was a good idea. And we had no complaints. We do play in a once a month tourney in a nearby city and we can use anything.

I don't think you would need a better arm if the bases were moved back. The problem I see today in all but the top divisions is infielders playing so deep their throws can't beat the runner to the bag. But with the bases moved back, they could play at the same depth and would have a better chance of getting the runner and a better chance in turning 2. but one of the advantages would be in the outfield, with the hot bats we have to play so deep it gives the hitter an automatic double on ground balls, with the bases back that would even it out.

I suggest a change to the base lenghts for next year. Add 10' for the 50 and 55 and 5' for the older divisions. This would allow players to play deeper and still be able to throw out runners. this along with the 6' pitchers box it should help in the safety department and I would not be against widening the mat, the defense and pitching need help. I prefer this to the banning of bats. Lets think outside of the box.

We played a team from Canada when we were in Vegas a few years ago, I think the Traders Club or something like that. They were a good team I think we lost by a few runs. That was a good group we went 3-4 and lost 3 by one run each and we were the only team to beat our pool winner. And I think they finished 4th.

you can bet the AA will not be anywhere in the middle of the counrty it will be west or way north. we have always enjoyed the tournament but we are tired of always having to travel so far. Red from Texas
