Discussion: New 2018 Melee Reloaded

there is a great article about Physics of softball and here is a link to swing weight (end load, balanced, etc) and how it affects how a bat feels in your hands

Discussion: New 2018 Melee Reloaded

here is a question...if the bat is end loaded 3/4 ounce, it seems like a production nightmare to make different end caps and different rods in the handle to get the desired weight of the bat...So, like the above poster asked, if end caps are the same does the 29.5 and the 25.5 have different rods in the handle? Thus, neutralizing the end load in the heavier bats???....i remember the re-cert aluminum bat debacle that happened in the early 2000's where the bat companies put a slug into the handle to neutralize the excessive end load in the bat....the weight of the bat went up 4 ounces and took away the end load....Lee, do you have any ideas on this?

In 2018, can a player be on one team rated AAA and one Team rated majors in the same age bracket...and if not, how can a player play on 2 different tournament SSUSA teams not necessarily in the same bracket i.e. 50s and 55s?

it is a good senior bat...for me, it did not match my Adidas Melee but I could feel it getting more pop with each swing...i would say 200 good swings made it feel good for me

I have hit this bat right out of the wrapper...I wouldn't go so far as to say it was the "hottest bat out of the wrapper" but after a few hundred swings I could feel it open up.....it was very durable in those 200 swings as no cracking or spider webs formed at all...in a 100 more swings, it should be game ready

Discussion: Pitching machine

After 2 solid weeks of Hitting, the Nkue Flame is a resounding success....we have had 15 different hitters use it and all said how great it is to just hit...there aren't a lot of good BP PITCHERS on our teams, so they aren't really as productive as they could be....i would say if 1000 pitches were thrown by the machine, 980 were hittable pitches...to replicate that success with out pitching would be impossible plus each round per batter can pitch 30 pitches in 5 minutes...thats a lot of good productive BP and a lot of happy players

runner is OUT...no different than touching home plate instead of crossing line....if that was OUR team, we would be livid that OUR guy did something that "stupid" because it has happened any times with inexperienced senior players...sliding into first, not advancing to next base on 5th run scoring, touching home plate, being a courtesy runner when you are supposed to bat in 2 spots, sliding into home, running 2x in an inning as courtesy runner.......they all happened to our teams over the years and they are OUTS....runner should have been called out no question

Thanks Dave.....we won both our Play in games and were top seed.....we literally played the next 2 games against the 2 teams we played in the prelims......my only concern was when scheduling the prelims, directors should take into consideration that local teams play each other during regular season games and usually in tourneys that are close to their home....we had teams from mass, ct, pa , ohio, Canada and other farther places that we don't play very much and didn't get to do in this tournament either...we like to play teams from all over so we get to see what the rest of the world has and meet different people.....thanks for listening

Discussion: NORTHEAST CHAMPIONSHIPS SESSION 1 RESULTS

our team Custom Logo from Syracuse played in the finals of the 50AAA and we came upon a very silly situation....we were the winners of the losers bracket and were facing winner's bracket top team...we beat them and figured we would just go into the title game with both teams there, both umpires, all the fans and just play the title game....but no, we were told to move everybody to another field where teams were already playing and they were in a similar situation as us...except, if the loser bracket winner won their game, we would have to wait until THEIR game was decided.......I know it is difficult to run a tournament, but it seems weird that people in California are decided schedules 3000 mile away......we waited a good 75 minutes to play the final game and there was a lot of moving around by many people.....another major problem is that we have 6 teams in our bracket and in the 2 play in games we play a team from Syracuse and one from Rochester 90 minutes away from us......they should have a rule that you can't play anyone within a certain radius in play in games....we didn't even see some teams in our bracket but played 6 games and 5 were against a Syracuse team (2) and a Rochester team (3)....it would be nice to play against some teams we have never faced before.....just a few suggestions for future tourneys...otherwise a great weekend despite the rain and handles very well

I said earlier, I have been to 2 spring trainings and the next one will be #3....you get what you put into it ....there are lots of instructors and if you have a question you ask.....not only does the camp get me into action a lot sooner than my fellow northerners, I can work on things that I feel are weaknesses and work on strengths...if the instructors see something, they will let you know without trying to change your whole approach...sometimes, it's a minor tweak there or a 1/2 step there but it is helpful and something they see can help your game....plus , it's a week for me in 70-80 degree weather...Alan puts on a good show
