Discussion: Status of the GSC bat

I researched GSC back to January 15th, 2014....it was interesting how many people vouched for the company while others doubted it......here is a copy of one poster who played for a GSC team....I wonder how he thinks now...I did call Jason at GSC and left a message about the bat and its future (if there is one)...here was post

from 2014, January

My bad. Let me rephrase.

For what it is worth, I will manage / play for a team sponsored by GSC this year. So I hope my comments are viewed as biased, but not untrue.

Bottom-line

The people/families at God's Sports Company have a vested interest in the P413 coming to market. This is not just a job for those employed by GSC, but more importantly it is their ministry. Their passion and commitment is real. If this bat never reaches the marketplace then the people involved with GSC will have endured a tremendous loss. The loss can certainly be measured in real dollars to the investors and to those being paid by GSC, but how can you measure the loss of a dream or vision.

Not withstanding to previous monies paid to Bill. Steve will honor that commitment to those who bought bats before he sells a bat to any other person. From multiple individuals within the organization to my ears (face to face). That being said GSC has not turned on the credit card machine so the majority of us are just disappointed that the we can't buy the latest and greatest (insert name here)Iphone, Xbox, whatever.

Lastly,

I don't know for SURE when the P413 will come to market, but I know for SURE they are doing everything they can to make it happen.

Discussion: Mikens New Ultra II Black debuts.....

I have used the Utrip versions of Miken's endload and balanced bats (DC-41 and 4 the Fallen).....my observations are, they both have good pop after a 150-200 swing break in period.....the end load had MORE pop compared to the balanced BUT, it had more swings on it, thus better broken in barrel.....now to the "balanced vs. end load" question.....I noticed that as the season progressed and I got worn down from the long summer, my swing was a bit slower getting around....I switched to a BALANCED version of the same bat minus the 1 ounce endload and Voila, my hitting and swing returned to "normal"...I attributed this to an "easier" swinging bat and not having to lug that extra 1 ounce through the hitting zone at precisely the right time....I know it seems minute for that bit of weight but FOR ME, that was my observation.....endload has more momentum through the zone but bat speed is probably less compared to a balanced bat.....maybe this can help someone, it did for me

Discussion: Status of the GSC bat

here is copied and pasted version of link....such a shame to use people's trust AND religion to pull a fraud on honest people.....money IS the root of all evil

"A Coto de Caza couple faces 23 years in prison on charges of using their church, friends and family to defraud them of more than $3 million.

Businessman Steven Andrew McKinlay, 58, and fifty-six-year-old Kristi B. McKinlay, a certified public accountant, will be arraigned Tuesday on charges of defrauding investors and stealing more than $3 million in an affinity scheme.

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the pair allegedly duped a Major League Baseball player, a family friend who came into money through a devastating personal injury, and a cancer patient who wanted to secure an inheritance for his family.

The owners of God’s Sports Company, the McKinlays allegedly took money from investors and used it on a $10,000 a month rent for a San Clemente home and $7,000 a month rent for a Coto de Caza home, paying for their daughter’s wedding, purchasing a luxury suite at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Stadium, purchasing cars, and paying off old debts and day-to-day expenses.

Several victims were associated with the defendants through their church. Such schemes are called affinity frauds.

“Affinity fraud most commonly happens in church, where victims are asked to invest with a false sense of trust in an investor who preaches morals and ethics,” said District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. “I want to remind the public that affinity fraud can also happen with people having the same nationality, race, or are living in senior living communities.

“Nobody is exempt from affinity fraud and people should vet everyone before investing, especially those they have a lot in common with or they think they know well and can trust.”

The McKinlays are charged with 10 felony counts of using untrue statements in the purchase or sale of a security, one felony count of grand theft, and one felony count for the use of a device in a scheme to defraud, with sentencing enhancement allegations for loss over $100,000, aggravated white collar crime over $500,000, causing property damage with loss over $1.3 million. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 23 years and eight months in state prison. The McKinlays are in custody on 3 million dollars bail and must prove it is from legal resources....."

seems like a lot of comments for and against Tim's 2 month rant...obviously SSUSA should look at the message NOW and not the messenger.....Tim's delivery might have been over the TOP but myself as an innocent bystander, this sounds like an issue that happens more often than not

I have the new balanced Miken Ultra2....it swings EXACTLY like my Miken DC41 and Miken 4 the Fallen.....although mine has 100 hits on it, it doesn't feel like my Reebok Melee or Dudley Balanced... I know with my U trip mikens, it took a bit to break in those bats but once they did...POW.....I still have to take more live hits with the Miken to be convinced it outperforms my other two senior bats but as of now, it feels good.....I will bring all 3 to Spring Training to really give it the acid test.....apples to apples I always say....may the best bat win

Discussion: Senior Bats and Temperature

we are playing a tournament this weekend and the weather is going to be cool and cold...high of 60 but most games will be in the 50's....my question is, will you use your senior bats?, or if you don't will U-trip bats be any safer?....if there a rule about keeping bats warm so they stay above 65 or 70 degrees....what do most players do in this situation????...there are 6 teams in our bracket and many more in the rest...there are ALOT of bats that will be challenged this weekend

Discussion: Opinions about custom glove makers....

I used an A2000 for 20 years and it worked great.....at the time it was one of the biggest gloves around.....unfortunately as I got older I needed a little extra pocket and Wilson didn't help...I ended up with a Vinci and haven't looked back once.....I am on my 2nd glove only because the newer one had a bigger pocket....I sometimes find the A2000 in my bag and it looks so tiny...it would be a good glove for a younger player for infield but Vinci has done me well the past 15 years

Discussion: Original gray Miken Ultra (without center rod insert) VS. current MIken 2 piece endloads

I took 2 swings with the original Miken...I put it down and said, this bat is unfair...a few weeks later it was banned......now I am older and "wiser", I use the best technology I can and everyone is on the same page as me...I have used Miken 2 piece U-trip bats all season and am looking forward to swinging the senior Miken.....I cannot compare a whole season to the original Ultra but I think it might be pretty close...I hope

Does anybody know where I can find a reebok end cap....My bat (back up Reebok) sounded like a rattlesnake shaking a baby toy when I took swings with it....I researched how to get the cap off but I messed it up......they had generic end caps on other sites but the reebok cap is way different......it is a balanced model...any help would help....bkb555@verizon.net.......thanks

Discussion: WOODLAWN HITTING CLUB?

Just finished spring training with Alan and the guys and it was fantastic...weather was very cooperative for the most part and the company was great...the advisory staff was top of this world not only in knowledge and experience but just A-class people all around...My hat goes off to Bob O'Brien, Jason Kendrick, Davey Reed, Carlos and of course our gracious, well spoken host Alan Tanner......we learned as much on the field as we did off with exercise ideas and training techniques that will likely prolong our careers so we can still play when we are Davey Reed's age....I wonder if I could sneak him into my league a few times....hmmm.....but again, it was a great experience meeting fellow devoted softball players like myself and picking up big and little tips from all walks of softball life.....Thank you again Alan and the staff...A++++ all the way...Brian from Syracuse

Discussion: Required Face Masks

I disagree Benji....if the league says they are mandatory, then they should be...I play hockey, helmets are mandatory but not cages or masks....... I wear a mask, some guys wear visors, some guys wear nothing...I have NEVER seen a guy break his nose or split a lip or lose a tooth wearing a cage after getting hit by a puck or a stick or an elbow......we are mandated to wear hockey helmets, WHY???? because it protects not only the player but the players around them and also the rink and any other liable institutions.....the same goes with softball, if you don't like a rule, then it is time to move on to a different league...I am sure there are leagues out there with optional mask rules but in the end, the safety is most important with our current equipment....you only get a few chances if you get struck in the head with a ball.....if you don't bleed or get concussed or split open consider that your lucky day and get a mask and helmet....I got LUCKY 15 years ago with a puck to an unprotected, unmasked, uncaged eye......I considered that my one break in the sport..... now I don't have to worry about it and haven't since then.....signed, masked and caged bkb555

kind of a no brainer on wearing helmet and mask combo...we use U-trip bats in our senior league and have seen pitchers hit by balls at very fast speeds ..i can only imagine same scenario with a senior bat....most pitchers wear masks now but there are a few strays out there......only smart way is to wear one
