Discussion: Catchers will wear a mask

Just wear the mask if you catch, forget all the what ifs and so on....the rule has been stated, stay away from the position if you object or stay on the bench and AH

If you are sick, or have been around someone who is sick, you should stay home...but you also have a month to get better...let's play ball as safely as we can and be smart and take whatever precautions are needed to protect everybody

check with your county executives about returning to your home state....NY doesn't have a quarantine rule but I know if we go to NH or Maine or Vermont with NY license plates, they may quarantine us.....hope to see you soon...we are phase 3 Friday June12th...only 1 more phase to go unto we are good to have team sports etc

last I heard, we have 40 teams now entered as of June10th for Syracuse...in case anyone is concerned, we are moving to Phase 3 of opening up June12th and Phase 4 (softball and team sports) July 1st....we are not NYC, we are CENTRAL NY state....NYC is 4-5 hours away so any team that is concerned about Covid and infection rates, Syracuse is deemed extremely safe, thus the quicker opening of the area....fields are in great shape and it would be good to start the tourney season in the northeast with a big turnout....see you in a few weeks

as much as I want to play softball, I don't think it is a good idea for people of many different states to meet together and then go back home to their respective states...the idea is to try and contain the spread and by traveling 6 states away and stopping along the way, there is definitely a threat to contact at least 1 person who is contagious....there is a statistic that says 1 person affects 2.3 people...multiply that by the number of guys we have going to a tourney and traveling in between, and you can see how things can get worse...it has been a long winter as always and we all want to get out but a few months more is probably needed to get rid of this...just my opinion, thanks

It's probably best that teams from different states don't go into other states right now...just think of all the people that will come into contact with each other and then bring back possible infections to respective states....it might just accelerate the problem and possibly infect areas that weren't affected....we just have to ride this out and socially isolate as best and miserably as possible

Our team has decided not to go...we were in 55 majors....schools are closing in NY and I think things will get worse before they get better

Dirk, how many swings did you get on the Suncoast...I found it is way more durable than the Adidas as mine were getting 120 swings before they broke...My Suncoast had over 400 before it broke...time is not as important as swings although I did try to see how long the Suncoast would last within the 60 day warranty...after 400, I said it was good and brought it to florida and it broke after 20 more swings

yeah, it's kind of hard to make hotel reservations 3 weeks before a tournament when 107 teams are looking for the same rooms....I called a few weeks ago and they told me Jan 2nd "we will release the field assignments, just like every other tourney after registration is over"....I just googled the fields and they can range from 3-6 miles away to 20-25 miles away from hotels....

Discussion: Balls

since Dave brought up that each team gets 6 balls and the option to buy more balls if they don't retrieve them, it made me think of the last 2 tournaments our team attended...one at the TOC in Florida and Tidewater Classic in Virginia beach....both fields had water/ponds/lakes behind the fences and made it impossible to retrieve balls without a long net on a pole, a branch or something similar.....I think as long as we keep playing at these facilities, something should be provided by the fields or SSUSA to retrieve these balls.....at least $5 a ball, I counted 9 balls in the water the next day we played at the one field in Va Beach.....with today's modern technology, balls can get wet and still be fine ….I thought of bringing my pool net to my next tourney but fitting it in the car is a little tough being it is 10 feet long plus it can extend another ten......just my observation...thanks

why are you ripping on Alan....either buy his bats or don't....new stuff comes out every year...it's shiny, it feels good and it looks good.....same thing goes with golf clubs, cars, TVs and every other item we use....a little tweak here or there but it's NEW.....not necessarily better or worse but Newer....same goes for shoes and gloves and all our other "things"....I am a consumer and I like to see the new stuff come out....if I like it, I buy it...if it doesn't work for me, someone gets a great deal on a slightly used item...it is the way of the world....there are just better tools now to measure things like ball speed and swing speed and compression and distance and I am one of the lucky ones who gets to see some of this stuff work....like anything written on this message board, you can take everything with a grain of salt and move on to the next topic if it gets under your skin.....newer doesn't always mean better but I'm not taking any chances...LOL

I thought fences had to be at least 300 to be a sanctioned event.....seems like BLD , other than it's beauty, falls very short of these numbers...that is unless the fences are 30 feet high???
