Discussion: Southern Championship Dalton, Ga in March

Odds are very good that you have cold to very cold weather in N. GA. in March

Scott .... you are wise beyond your years. I know at least one of the 4 teams in 60M and 1 50 AAA team will not be attending the tournament. Should play 1 pool play game and begin bracket play to finish the tournament by Sat. evening. I am still willing to bet that 1/2 of the field won't show up due to the extreme cold. Multiple injuries and busted bats are all that will happen.

lb16, less than 1/2 of the teams show up Sat with rain forecast for Friday-wet fields, low's in the 20s, hi's in the upper 30s with wind gusts forecast to be in the 25mph range for the weekend. Player safety will be a factor. I'll say this post will be deleted within 10 mins.

Hummm .... today is the Sunday before we travel to Nashville for the tournament beginning Saturday 03/18/23. Problem is we don't know at which complex we will play and can't book a hotel. The 2 complexes are 30 -40 miles apart & which complex we will use is still " subject to change".

Hummm .... so you update the Sat. brackets on Sunday. Then act as if they were current on Saturday. There is a stupidity index at play here but it wasn't me. All I want to see were the updated brackets. I do appreciate that the brackets were updated Sunday. Thank you.

....except I can't because there are no updates in 50's since pool play.

Not sure, but it would seem that ignoring a proper question or replying with a vague comment is a reason why teams look for alternative places to play. Whether correct or not, it just has a "sneaky" feel to it.

Discussion: New 14 inch Dudley Hot W

Or, might it possibly be because the Dudley bat line is neither very good nor durable?

I own a phone as well, but since there is no info, I can't Google SSUSA to find out the results.

My team is deciding whether to play. If we had a current count on the 55MP and 50M we could decide.

It will be interesting to see how this works out. There are not enough teams to hold 2 SR. tournaments in close proximity in the SE.

My guess is that it is way too late for Pete to even consider switching from SPA to SSUSA for the April tournament. Plus, Pete is a straight up guy and would not make a switch. Seems like a bit of poor planning here.

Perl -- you are correct. What I was getting at is 2 Senior tournaments in the Atl. area on the same weekend will either result in 2 separate tournaments will small fields in each age group OR one will make and the other will tank. The SPA tournament is an established event will a well-liked director in Pete Fowler.

The SPA event is an established tournament in Cartersville. It will be interesting to see how the fields for each of these tournaments fill up.

This past weekend in Secession 1, 55 MP played both Pool Play and Bracket play with only one umpire and no scoreboards. I do not know if the other divisions only had 1 ump per field.

Discussion: SPA World tournament in Dalton .... team qualifications

I would have asked this question on the SPA board but SPA does not allow any discussion on its web page and does not provide a good resource like this message board on this SSUSA page.

Discussion: SPA World tournament in Dalton .... team qualifications

Question: Per the SPA rule book, both the 1st place winning team and the 2nd place team in a world tournament are moved up by mandatory rule to the next higher division for 1 year. The Texas Mavericks finished second to Alabama Brick in the 50 Major division in 2016 YET the team is entered in the 50 M World tournament beginning this week in Dalton Ga. The Tx. Mavericks began 2017 as a 50 MP team. How is a 50MP team allowed to compete in the 50M division?

Trying to get a count on the number of 50 Major teams signed up for Mobile, AL. SSUSA tournament in less than 2 weeks. I think S.E.Combat, AL. Brick and possibly Klutch are the only teams. Any other 50 Major team signed up?

Discussion: New Adidas MeLee 2

These attacks on Alan a/k/a Tri18 are without any degree of merit. Alan has provided solid guidance to me and my teams about many different bats for years. He has not misled us one single time. He has also given us great service at a great price. I understand people do get upset with their competitiors from time to time, BUT the complaints should be factual. I can only comment about my dealings with Alan. He has been upfront, honest and has given me good advise and great service. I for one appreciate the amount of his own time he spends evaluating new bats, balls and other prodcuts so that he can give us solid information. Personally, I think he is insane to waste so much time testing new products -- the man recently married. For the record, one thing we can all agree on is that he married way way way over his head! He should be at home instead of trying to obtain up to date information for fellow senior softball players! Thanks Alan..... and as a friend, you might want to lock the front door whenever you go to test another new product! ...... Esquire

Discussion: NSA Senior Nationals

The balls mandated by the owner of NSA for Senior ball is a horrible 52cor / 275 compression ball. I played in the Boaz/ Gadsden AL tournament and saw very few home runs or even hard line drives. The ones I did see were in the early morning games. After it got a bit warm -- about 11am, these sorry balls got much much worse. This decision by NSA will assure that NO TEAMS will ever play in a 2nd NSA sanctioned event. I spoke to several teams and all agreed that they would not play NSA again as long as these balls were in use. I was told this was an "insurance" decision and that the NSA insurance policy dictated use of this very very very bad ball.So long NSA on the SR Softball Circuit.
