Discussion: WORTH WICKED REVIEW

The XL on the Worth wicked denotes a 1/2 oz. end load. This bat out hits my 2015 Miken Big Cat [26 oz.-1 oz. end-load] off the tee by about 10 feet.I swing a 27 oz. Wicked and it feels the same as my 26 oz. Miken. Most of the players in my league seem to prefer the Adidas at this time.

Just found out that this bat is made in China. Not made in the USA as advertised. That being said, I put 100 hits on the bat already and it has a very large sweet spot. Swings and sounds real good so far.

Discussion: 3N2 Shoes

I have had the same problem with my 3n2 cleats. Gorilla glue has held them together for awhile now. They were made in China. Just got a pair of Mizuno cleats. Made in Cambodia. I used to wear Tanels, but they were expensive and didn't last long. Boombahs have gotten a couple of bad reviews also. You might check with Allan Tanner at Team 1 Sports. He has cleats that he said are light weight and comfortable.

Discussion: Batting tee

I have used many tees over the years. The best one is the G-tee at around $120. I have a Champro tee that is very light weight and has a base that is very stable. One telescopic piece screws into the base in seconds and extends up to 47 inches. It has a 6 1/2 inch rubber top to accommodate a softball. You rarely,if ever, knock the tee over. It cost $70 and is a good alternative( less expensive} than the G-tee that Bogie uses.

Hi Gary- The fields will close after the 16th. There are tournaments finishing up on the 13th and 15th in the morning at Buffalo Glen. I will be there both days if you want to hit after the games. I think that the other fields should be available every afternoon since most of the lower divisions have finished their seasons. See you next week. Bud

Discussion: bat rolling

My local softball batting cages are now offering bat rolling for $25. How much more distance could you expect and would it hurt the bats durability? I swing a 26 oz. Reebok Melee legend. I know it is illegal and would not have it done, Just curious, as these batting cages have been here for years and never had this service before. Anyone have any experiences with bat rolling?

I use a Shoeless Joe 14" "H" web model. This is a great glove with little or no break in necessary. The glove cost me $160. Top leather hand made glove.

I have used Mizuno, Under Armour and Tanels and the cleats I wear now, 3N2 turf are the most comfortable I've found.

Discussion: Hitting from tee vs. hitting pitched ball

I've been hitting off a tee for a few years now after I saw Bogie's DVD Blasting Bombs, spraying singles. I was so impressed by the way Roger "Doc" Clay { RIP } hit off the tee that I got one the next day. The tee I use now is a Worth that extends to 60". A good deal for under $50. I think Bruce is right on the money as I hit about 30' further off live pitching. By the way Bruce, I guess it was about 3-4 years ago that I played against you in a tournament here in the villages, A friend of mine,John Davide ,played third base on your team Spicer. You guys won the final game against Rose Ent. 36-35 when Rose had the tieing run on 2nd base in the bottom of the 7th. Unfortunately, he was also the on deck batter so after an intentional walk to the batter, the game was over. I also remember that you lined a home run over the right field fence. Bogie-thanks for the great swing makeover series. Bud

Hi 17Black-Just found out that there will be no evaluations until Jun. 2 due to major maintenance at Buffalo Glen complex. The Saddlebrook complex will be open after maintenance on Apr. 25th, so you can hit there on the 26th. The summer draft is tomorrow night, and when I find out what team I'm on, we will be having a practice on Wed. the 29th. If you are here you can practice with my team. Bud

Hi 17Black-

practice is permitted on all of the fields any time there are no league games scheduled. All the fields are open all day Sunday. Everyone has to have 3 evaluations. They are normally held at Buffalo Glen complex at 8 on Tuesday mornings. After you are evaluated, you are required to play one season at that level. After the first season, you may move up or down one level every season. There is an open draft before each season. If you are not drafted at the level you want to play, you will be dropped down to the next lowest level, or you can stay at the level you desire to play at as a sub. As a 50 major player, I am sure you will be evaluated as a 1st division player. Just show up at evaluations with your Villages I.D. The 3 evaluations do not have to be done consecutively. You can do them whenever you can. Divisions 1 and 2 are playing together this summer and will have 15 teams. After you are evaluated you can sign up to play as a substitute in any of the games. Each team has 12 players. Currently, there are about 60 subs signed up for Div. 1/2 this summer, but all newly evaluated subs have priority and play first. Good luck. Bud

Hi George- You can go to any complex and take batting and fielding practice. The players usually start hitting before 8 a.m. I prefer the Saddlebrook complex( next to the Polo field) It is located on Buena Vista blvd, About a quarter mile north of Road 466. There are no set times for any particular groups. I am playing in two tournaments at the present time-Central Florida league as well as the Rec league, so I will be resting on Easter Sunday. Bud
