Discussion: Entry fee to Walnut Creek?

Why is it that this $5 per person entry fee wasn't apparent until after the entry fees are paid? There is no notification on the ACC Tournament page, nor was it posted anywhere else.

So the $555 entry fee is actually $765 with 14 players, and it seems like you folks should be transparent about this.

I think you know better than that Paco. And I'm not sure why you resort to name-calling. See if I give you a beer next time you ask! The rules are there for a reason so teams can't sandbag which is exactly what you guys are doing. Ask Larry

Paco, you are dead wrong about one thing. In ISSA, teams are allowed to rate themselves on each tourney application form. That's why teams like yours can drop down a level. Our bracket in Salem is us, and three SSUSA major teams, including yours. This is why we don't play many of their tournaments AND why SSUSA is a distinctly better run group, in terms of competitive play.

Paco, my friend. I requested SSUSA to move us UP to AAA in 2014 and they obliged. In 2015, SSUSA had us at AAA all year, and we won the Tidewater, then won the Eastern nationals. RB designated us 55 AA for the ISSA Worlds last year, in spite of what was on our entry form, over my protest and two phone calls after winning the AAA Easterns. He actually told me he thought we were still one of the weaker teams in the bracket, because of the teams that were allowed to play AAA.... So, we sucked it up and won there too. Then came in tied for 5th in Las Vegas last Fall in AAA. Your team is a major team, you win at that level and request to play DOWN? Seriously??? Peace out...

To my friend Paco13... since being designated a 55 major team, you've won what? Two or three SSUSA tourneys right? Now you're only AAA? C'mon bro... after the abuse your manager gave me for being forced to play AA in one ISSA tourney last year, you can bet I'm going to pile it on him in Salem. It's absurd to self rate down just to win.

You'll be fine.... nothing special required. I pack all my uniforms and most of my clothing in my bat bag and the duffel I pack it in. As long as it's under 50 lbs., all is good.

Let me retract that last statement, because it's even worse than that. I misread the part about MA or RI teams having access to PA/NJ/NY players. It's even worse than I thought!

Can't forget about it Tattooball, that's true everywhere and it applies universally. Here's my prediction... in a year or two, there will be no more teams based in New England and all of those same teams will somehow be based in NY, so as to have the deepest possible talent pool available.

That seems like a TREMENDOUS advantage for players and teams from that region. There are already a lot of good teams from NY & New England ang giving them this special advantage is detrimental to the rest of us that have to play by the old rules. 1/6 of the population of the US against the teams using the contiguous boundary rules. WOW!

The Beltway Bandits 55 AAA team is looking for a couple of full time players to join our group. We play 10 or so tourneys a year, mostly close to home, but we go to Raleigh, one in Florida and we always do the SSWC's in Las Vegas. This is a great group of guys and we are the defending Eastern National Champions, placing 5th/6th in Las Vegas this past year, plus won two other tournaments.

I'm looking for at least 1 outfielder with speed and a good stick, and maybe an infielder that hits for power... We currently have NO major rated players, so theoretically we can pick up 2 or 3, according to the rules. We are self-sponsored. Send an email to me if you're interested. bradskipper@verizon.net

If you live in or around Northern Virginia and want to play senior softball, please sign up as an individual player at the FAS website, www.playsoftballnow.com, and we'll find you a team based on your skill level. We've got about 20 teams and 4 divisions, playing Monday nights, starting in June

Discussion: Major plus problem

I manage a 55-AAA team that has played you guys a few times through the years Mr. "M", and would have no problem doing so again. I liken it to a test and to be the best, we need to play the best and every once in a while, we're gonna win. But in the meantime, I expose my players to truly good softball players that are well managed, make few mistakes and hit for both power and speed. To the teams that won't play you, it's too bad for the sport. Those are probably the same teams that play down in other organizations, just to win, which is truly pathetic. For the record, we will never do that and I'd like to see consistent ratings across the spectrum of senior softball. Keep on with it...
