| March 7, 2026 Swanky | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Base runner hit by ball after it is tipped off pitchers glove Dave, What actually happened on this play was, batted ball went off pitchers glove and rolled near SS, who ran in to play the ball but missed it and it hit the runner going from 2nd to 3rd, who thought he was out and stopped running. The middle fielder then picked up the ball and tagged the runner, then threw to 1B to get the batter base runner, who had also stopped running. The umpire called a double play, so it appears that he got it right. Very confusing at the time though. Thanks for the clarification. |
