Discussion: just heard from your sponsor....not good news....thanks George SSUSA

well lets take this one person at a time.
we were going to bring in 7 new players to SS. 7 players in an area where it's hard to get one let alone 7. You say you have a history about us, guess i can say what it says. 1 win and 4 loses against teams both higher and lower rating. But you still think it's a good idea to move up. Wait until someone on the opposing team slams a ball into a player. Several things will happen, 1 the player will get hurt, 2 the opposing player will feel bad for the injury, and in SS wisdow, it was okay for a lesser player to play against players far above his caliber. Wonder where that will lead?
A tourney director saw us play in Lacey. Even he knows our players were outgunned, as his statement says. The appeal process will be taken and we wait patiently for a response.
I guess the biggest thing is loss of a GREAT sponsor for something we have no control over. I understand both sides, but in fairness, this is a situation where decency and common sense should prevail.

Just got a call from our sponsor. Seems he reads these boards too. He just found out we have been moved up to AAA without even playing in a sanctioned tourney. Guess we have lost our sponsor ship. It's sad...you lose a few players and fill the positions with REC players at best and you get bumped up. We were and exsisting team that just changed names and added non-impact players. Sad, just sad.
He stated " I don't want to sponsor teams that don't even have a chance at competition". I can see his point. It's his money. But Damn, he sponsors 5 seperate teams in SS and a bunch of them in local leagues. We have a meeting tonight and he is going to give us the news on which teams stay or if he is just going to end it for everyone. I don't like the looks of this. He's a good guy, and a great sponsor and friend but this is business I suppose.

Number27....scary moment indeed....Bill is a tough ol iron worker....didnt know he had a heart problem till this weekend....kind of a good thing he went down...they put a couple stints in his heart....out for the season(one of our best players,of course). But he will be well soon...thanks for asking.

Taits, here is ONE of the problems with the rating system. The players we added are Recreational players at best.
Also as stated in the SSUSA rating guidelines themselves, review of ratings is done in Jan and July. Heck, we haven't even played anyone in our age bracket yet and we get bumped! Just not happy...all the teams our sponsor has, he isn't happy. If we play and can't be competitive, it's all over for us. He doesn't mind losing, but he wants us to play somewhere where we AT LEAST have a chance to win.
If we have to change associations, the other teams he sponsors are going to have to go too. NOT HAPPY!

Discussion: NOT real happy with SSUSA right now. Monaco Mayhem team

We took over the team of CE John. A 65AA team. Some of the guys moved up to 70 so we needed to fill a few spots. We filled them with guys who are fun to play with and like to have a good time. Not great ball players by any means, just guys who want to hit some and play a fun game of ball. Not a competitive bone in any of their bodies.
We played in Lacy this past weekend. Round-robin format and got our ass handed to us. But we had a blast. We got beat by 70's team and that was ok. We had fun!
We got informed today we have been raised to AAA. Unbelievable. We add players who are REC players at best and this happens. We are now an A team if anything.
Got an email from our sponsor today. He isn't happy either. He sponsors 5 teams total in SSUSA and he wants us to find a different organization to play for. UTrip, ASA, whatever. Truthfully we did pick up a AAA rated player but he is a wounded duck. He can't throw anymore and his legs are now toast.
It's just sad that now we have to go play in a division where we have ABSOLUTELY no chance of even being a little competitive.
So fellas, lots like if this isn't resolved, we won't be around much longer
You are a great bunch of guys. Hope to see you all on the field one day. You too can say you rained on Mayhem...:)

It's no wonder SSUSA is losing members to other orginizations. ANTIQUATED RULES and the new ones just implemented, are just as bad.

Discussion: question regarding paint chips

I have 2 bats that both have developed a paint chip. It's about an eigth inch square on both bats. Both are newer bats and I was wondering if this is a sign of things to come? And has the bat developed a weak spot?...Ambush and Dirty

Discussion: Tired of breaking bats

is there any bats that have the durability for use in the senior league? From last season to now, I have broken or cracked 4 Mikes(red), 2 Melee (yellow), 2 Ambush (el), this is getting expensive. should I switch to utrip bats?...Any thoughts would be appreciated....and please...don't hijack the thread.....thanks

Discussion: Here's my question on RATINGS

As a member of a team that's right on the edge of being moved up, here's my question. If we were to be moved up, most players want to disband and go to other teams. As a fairly good player, I am good with moving up, but finding a team to play for isn't as easy here in the northwest as it is elsewhere. And there isn't a lot of teams of that caliber up here. Going from AAA to Major or plus is hard here. The teams are pretty close knit, winning is nice but I'm more about the friendship and just the joy of the game. I won't play the cut throat kind of ball, nor do I want to play for a team that's that way. Maybe i'm just rambling here but I'm kind of at a loss.

Discussion: Which Bat should I use?

I have been helping the wounded warriors project for a few yrs and I think it's about time I played too....I have played for a yr or so here locally but I need to find a bat that can withstand my hitting. I don't know if it's good or bad but I hit really hard...kind of put everything into it. Usually goes over the fence but I am tired of breaking bats....any ideas?
I've tried Mikens, Ambush and some others.
