Discussion: Do I qualify for 60 team

I will be 60 in Dec 2019, can I start playing on a 60 team now or do I have to get closer to my birthday? Second question, if I qualify for 60, any team in Texas (Houston area) need a young 60 year old? I am more of a AA or AAA player.

Discussion: Throwing arm has gone bad.

I am 57 and a mean lean softball machine. I know you guys are not being a doctor and thanks for your input. I just wanted some feedback. Mannjo that is the second time I heard someone say frozen shoulder. But both of you are right, I need an MRI. I love playing the game, it is in my heart and soul. I want to play in Vegas one day, just waiting for my wife to leave me, so I can. She hates softball and cannot understand why I still play. Maybe because I can still run and hit 600 and it excites me. I don't have to live through professional sports or my kid playing sports when I have my own game to play. Playing softball makes me feel young again.

Discussion: Throwing arm has gone bad.

I cannot throw overhanded anymore, only underhanded. This has been going on for about three months. I have extreme pain on the right side of my bicep and when I throw, the pain is real bad on front of my right shoulder. Very painful, makes me wish I never threw that ball overhanded. I was thinking maybe a massage (or acupuncture) would help and then she ask me a question if I think I tore my bicep tendon.
I think this may be it, a torn bicep tendon. Has anybody here had overhand throwing problems in the past and found out that is what it was a torn bicep tendon?
Another guy on another team has the same problem. I thought it was mouse arm, because my bicep hurts when I use a computer, but now I am thinking it is worse then that.

Discussion: What Softball Hitting Training Devices Do You Use?

I use pop toss. I think it is about 149.00. it pitches the ball to you. look it up on the internet. It has help me increase my batting avg and you don't need anyone to help you practice.

I am not a homerun hitter but can place the ball. But if the outfield gets to close, I can put it over there head, just not over the fence. Maybe some players here do not like AA division, because I have seen some negativity towards that division sometimes. But it is a division where some people can still play. I can tell you right now, that if the AA division is not there, those teams would be folding if they had to play AAA teams all the time. I don't mind losing, but when you can't even stop a team, it is just no fun anymore. I would love to be on a AA level team.

I think L Martin so they can play at their level (going to Vegas). I played in a tournament with AAA teams and we even got a run each inning up to 5 innings and still lost all games. The first game I thought the guy was being nice when he said "if it is ok to you, we will be visitors". I thought wow what a great guy letting us be home team. Half way through the game I figure out not such a great guy. When we could not stop them every inning, only the 5 run max stop them, I figure out they just wanted to pile on runs in the buffet. Welcome to senior ball LOL.

sw0099 you may want to start at AA, I have played against some 50's AAA teams in Texas, and they are real good players. I think the guys from Louisiana were eating steroids, they were big, LOL. I know if you win a few tournaments you will be bumped up to AAA. I would be interested, but my wife will not let be play on a travel team.

Did you see this guy's post: "Possibly thinking of starting a 50+ team. There seems to be several guys looking for a team.
I am 52 y/o and located in NW Louisiana .... I have a few guys from this area that are interested. We could play anywhere in the south or Midwest". He may be living in Shreveport which is not far away from you.

Discussion: Getting released from a team you don't want to play for any longer

Dave Dowell "I guess he bought the first Miken two-piece bat!" that is too funny. I have manage one senior team for a just one tournament but many coed teams and younger mens teams in the past. I would have sign the release regardless, like one guy said, they would have been cancer to the team.

Discussion: ASA Bats DeMarini Juggernaut Vs Miken Freak Black Balance

I started playing in a Coed ASA league. I have borrow a juggernaut and really love it, but it does have a 12inch barrel and sometimes I can't get on with miss hits on the inside part of the bat (not use to 12 inch barrels either). I also found a Miken Freak Black ASA bat. I have never used this bat but it has a 14inch barrel and I can get it in 25oz. My question is would I get fast bat speed with a 12inch barrel and 26oz bat or with a 14inch barrel and 25oz bat or would it be about the same?
Second question, has anybody here used the Miken Freak ASA bat and is it any good? I an stuck between the two bats, because I like the distance I get with the Juggy if I hit it solid, but the Miken 14inch barrel gives me additional hits on miss hits (I can't tell you how many times I got on base with miss hits). The Juggy I could buy and practice more with and get use to the 12 inch barrel so I can get more power, but maybe since I have been using 14inch barrels for years, should I just stick with what I know?

I can't answer for them, but my opinion is your are closer to 80 than 75 so you should play 80. Just smug the year of birth on your drivers license a little, they may not notice. :)

46 teams, I believe that is bigger than all the leagues in Houston area combined. Maybe 39 teams in Houston right now in 3 different leagues. Biggest league in Houston has 28 teams.
