Then again it is senior league. The guy might have been using the bat as a cane to get to first base. LOL

Discussion: What is the Proper Ruling

In our league, the pitcher has to cover home in that situation. If your 3rd baseman was really thinking about it, he should have never trusted the other teams catcher and threw the ball to second or first.

Discussion: HOW TO PREVENT A HEATSTROKE

I played in a tournament last year that was 103 degrees. I actually wore an ice vest and it kept me from passing out. Just can't wear it while I am batting, but I wore it on the field.

In my opinion, no it is not altered. However, ask them if they want to buy you a new bat (if they are wrong) and they can cut it open.

Gary, I do agree with you there. I have seen teams use just one bat out of the dugout before. I do get very suspicious then. Kind of funny, in regular senior league, I see multiple bats and maybe some of the players have the same brand. But the big difference is everybody usually use their own bat and not sharing it.

Benji4 "Now guys that don't swing senior bats make me a little suspicious" Not always what you think. I use a non-senior bat all the time (Miken DC-41), but it is for strategy. I use a non-senior bat to hit before the outfield and then when they move up later in the game, I use a senior bat to pound it over their head. But sometimes, if I am in a batting slump, I have an old Miken MV1 I will break out. I use it for superstitious and psychological reasons to try to get a hit. That bat I have used for seven years and it was my favorite until I got into senior softball. I did break the MV1 out another time when I was red hot at the plate. I wanted to see if I could get a hit with every bat in my bag which I have 5 of them in my bag (bat junkie). It was fun and it goes to show, "it is not the bat, but the batter".

Discussion: Arrogance can hurt a pitcher

Titanhd. Easy to explain, if I foul the ball off and start thinking I am late on my swing and then get two strikes against me, then I go into my up the middle stance because I have to protect the plate and keep the ball fair. Usually, don't hit up the middle often because the first pitch I swing at is usually in play. When I hit the guy last year, I had two strikes against me and was in the position to protect the plate. Coop I understand what you are saying because your are a tournament player and you are right, if you get use to the net, it would make your defense weaken. But this guy could not step a couple of steps back after he released the ball and thus he was pin in there. I pitch, but will take about three steps back after the release to give me that .2 of a second to react.

Discussion: Arrogance can hurt a pitcher

I was playing senior league ball the other night. In our league, the pitcher can use a screen, but if one pitcher uses the screen, the other pitcher has to use the screen too (the second part I don't agree with, it should be pitcher's choice). I usually don't hit up the middle, but I hit a nice line drive about 8 feet above the pitchers head (it was a pretty hit). So next time at bat, the pitcher moves the screen in the middle of the mound and pitches in front of it. He is trying to take the middle away from me. Last season I hit a guy so hard in the leg, the ball rolled out to the outfield. In fact, the ball already hit the pitcher before I could even finish off my swing. When this pitcher adjusted the screen to the middle of the mound and then stood in front of it, I started thinking "if I hit you, I am not even going to feel sorry for you, because your arrogance makes you stupid, you have a screen there to protect you". Lucky for him (and me too), I can hit the ball to the left or right side, so I choose to go left and hit another line drive through the left side. It just bothers me if you have a chance to play safe, then why not do it?

Discussion: Is it a strike if ball hits front edge of strike mat and also kicks up some dirt?

We call it a cheap strike, but still a strike. and most likely the pitcher can't do it twice in a row and the next pitch might be a little deeper. If I already have two strikes on me, I am going to defend the plate, if the ball is even near the plate.

Discussion: HOME PLATE UMPIRE POSITION

I had an umpire be in that same position in league last winter. First, I hit him in the shin with my bat, because that is where I put the bat at after I hit. For 27 years I never had an umpire be located there and I always put the bat in that location so I don't hit the catcher with it (because I played coed and usually a female is catching)Then later in the game, I almost hit him with a foul ball. I really don't think that is a good place for an umpire to be located.

BKB555 My Vinci glove was on back order but I did get it Saturday. I had my nickname put on it, the stitching looks pretty good. Still have to break it in, but I think I am going to love the glove. It does have a big pocket.

Discussion: 2016 melee

I got the new Melee. It started opening up after 100 hits and I got it past the pitcher's mound. Sorry, it is a joke. I am just not one of these guys who breaks a lot of bats and hit 350 feet. My max is 290 feet, but it is good enough for me. I like bringing the outfield in with a non-senior bat, and when they move in, I break out the senior bat to hit over their heads, LOL. I used strategy.

bkb555, I just bought a Vinci today. I hope it is a great glove, I am waiting for it to be shipped. I got the TJ1952-L black 13 1/2 inch. I never heard of this company until your post.

Discussion: Video on the 2015 Senior Demarini One El

Crusher, you said "committing their body by moving forward". I was doing batting practice yesterday and I seen what you are talking about. I am staring my step forward to early and already committed before I started my swing. I found a way to delay my step forward by keeping my left leg in the air, until I am ready to swing. In fact, it is like my swing is starting as my step forward is starting. I do see the additional power I get, by waiting on my stride. Thank you for the tip. The problem is I have to keep practicing it, because I am not used to it yet, but I do see it beneficial and trying to be the best I can be.

I use a "Pop Toss", because most of the time I am by myself in BP. I have a tee, but to me the ball is not moving and too easy to hit. Sometimes I use the tee to practice snapping my wrist. In the last two years, I made just two adjustments and brought my avg up from 600 or lower to high 600's or higher. First one, I kept the bat lower in my stance so I could get a more upward swing to hit over the infield. My old swing, I swung pretty level and cause a lot of ground balls. Second, I have a slow start on my swing so I had to get my hands closer to the strike zone and not behind me so much. I do lose power, but my contact has improve greatly. When I hit the ball solid, good things happen. My swing style is not for everyone and some people will disagree, but it has been working for me, because I found a way to hit the ball solid or get it over the infield. I am not a homerun hitter and most likely never will be, I just want to get on base. I think maybe you should try different things to find your swing. Mainly Practice, I try to hit at least once a week to keep my eye and hand coordination in check.

Discussion: Why I like softball.

Stattad, maybe a couple of the hits may have not gotten past a Major plus player,of course I never seen a major plus player and only guessing, because I heard they are good. Most of the hits were to the right side over the infield and sometimes up the middle. This was in league ball.
XLR8, No championship, in fact, the team was second on the bottom in standings. But it was one of the best teams I ever played for. They were always at peace and try to stay positive, I really like the team manager, he ran the team and was a leader too. Even though the team suck, I would play for them again because I had fun. Maybe that is why I hit so well last season, I was in a relax atmosphere.

Wow, I never knew teams had designated runners. You are offering no tournament fees and free jersey. Damn, the runners have better fringe benefits than the players. When you throw in travel expense too, I am in. :)

Since I live in Texas, I can only play for Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas and Mexico (since it touches Texas boarder too) LOL. I am 56 and my contact is dancerclown@msn.com I am looking for a Major Plus team to run for.
PS. paid travel expense will have to include my wife. My people will contact your people to work out the details.

(I hope you realized I am not serious, but if I can get it, I will take it, LOL).
