Discussion: The Life Cycle of a Senior Softball Player

A group of senior softball players, all in their 40's, discussed where a great place to meet for the season kick-off luncheon might be.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the waitresses were young, good looking, had nice personalities and wore short-shorts.

Ten years later the same group of guys now at age 50 once again discussed where they should meet for lunch.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the food and service was good, they had many televisions to watch the games on, and the beer selection was excellent and they were there last year.

Ten years later, at age 60, the team again discussed where they should meet for lunch.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace, and it was good value for the money and they were there last year.

Ten years later, at age 70, they discussed where they should meet for lunch.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled and they were there last year.

Ten years later, at age 80, the same BFF again discussed where they should meet for lunch.

Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Hooters because they had never been there before.

I’ve finished developing the photos I took during our W.E. Ruth's participation in the 60’s Major plus division last weekend. Some of you board guys may have no idea what Joe “einstein” Rinaldi looks like up close and personal. Well, I got a pic of him in the set. Corky (Miken Rep) is also in the mix along with photos that try and capture the overall ambiance of a SSUSA Senior Softball event.

Discussion: ANALYZING & CORRECTING SWING FLAWS

Introducing the Senior Bomb Squad

We wanted to announce the release of our 8th instructional hitting dvd… For any softball athlete, unable to consistently learn proper hitting and resolve those stubborn swing flaws… this 3 ½ hour program will change the sport for you. Its like 3 DVDs in 1. The first 2 hours, break the swing down into 3 drillable parts using today’s top young pros. Then we show a progression of drills that allow you to learn each part in logical steps…achieving a rotational based natural power swing ..allowing you to swing powerfully hitting the top or bottom of the ball with an 85% consistency…We then identify the 3 most common swing flaws and show specialized drills for correcting them…introducing new drills and simple training equipment that have never been seen before. Section 2 features an hour of the top pro players in the game talking about specific swing corrections they have made and how it can relate to your mechanics.

Finally part 3 entertains and inspires with interviews with legendary senior hall of famers..and introduces the national senior bomb squad ..showing how softball starts at 40 and continues into the 90s!. Can a 71 year old reach 400 feet??.…All this for an incredible value of $10 +s/h..a revolutionary way of making this affordable to all and beating the video pirates.

You really can’t get any idea of what’s included unless you read the full description off this link..

http://sportstechnique.com/softball.html The description takes a full page including listing the 14 top Super Major players that contributed, plus a large number of softball fans member. Over 5 years and 300 hours of rough footage went into this project.

We will offer this for a limited time at this price. You can purchase and add to a cart then paypal right off the website front page at http://sportstechnique.com/ really proud of the work everyone did on this…thanks Bogie (Ken)

I'm even brining them some Ultra II's bats so they have the weaponry we have. U2 are BANNED country wide in Canada as you know.

I got some great shots of Joe 'einstein' Rinaldi, Dennis and wife Sharilyn of Old A's Miken, Gil from MTC Softball, Frannie and Dave Dowell of SSUSA and two great shots of Bill and Susan Ruth that open the session and close it and a host of others.

Discussion: WENATCHE, WA SPRING “FUN” TOURNEY

This tournament is held annually the last weekend in April and is our Pacific Northwest's “Spring Fun” tournament. Held in Wenatchee, WA about 150 miles from Seattle over the Cascade mountain range, it’s the first opportunity for teams and players to shake off the winter rust!

The weather is typical clear and windy and players may play on a couple of teams during the two day event that is “self umpired” which allows for a more affordable 1st event. As usual I took a passel of pics that I’ve place in a slideshow for your viewing:

Discussion: APOLOGY REGADING MIKEN U2 MAXLOAD >1.20?

My most sincere apologies to SSUSA staff/Org and the entire message board contributors!

I have subsequently found out to the recent posting of an email by me (bash), that it was indeed a base canard fabrication of truth! I had a hunch anyway with the misspelling of T.H. last name as I mentioned in the thread. I wish now I would not have posted it until further investigation on my part causing some additional and unnecessary heartburn to the discussions on this MSG board.

Someone was playing a mean trick on a few of us and that’s unfortunate…but I’ll get over it and the culprit(s) will remain anonymous, as I’ll take their names to my grave. Only makes sense in retrospect now that of course the bat in question was and will remain legal for SSUSA play and hopefully into perpetuity cause it’s real HOT!

Discussion: 60's Major Plus now has (17) teams!

Hey Donnie! Good point on just how many of the qty(17) 60’s Major+ teams are planning to travel to the big tournaments this season? And then to facilitate decision making for teams by providing the opportunity to view other Major+ teams tournament schedules from around our great nation.

We could simply view each other’s calendars to determine if it would be worth while to attend a particular event or not and then maybe to apply some fun type “pressure” to get teams to a tourney.

I personally, would like to see SSUSA provide the median/facility for such a function, maybe by using their SSUSA web site in some manner to provide for centralized viewable updated team calendars.

We, W.E. Ruth 60’s, have placed our tournament schedule on a web site called “keepandshare.com” and it’s FREE of charge! You can make your calendar PUBLIC or PRIVATE.

When the calendar is opened it opens to the current month then it’s a simple matter of paging forwards or backwards from month to month viewing or using the GoTo dropdown list to view a particular month directly. There is also a Print button to print a page(s) if you like a hard copy.

It would be beneficial, in my not so humble opinion, to have at our fingertips, a centralized web based calendar system where teams/ managers/coaches/players and even ‘einstein’ could view from anywhere in the world just by logging in to the internet.

Our Ruth 60’s Public calendar for 2009 events can be viewed by embedding the following link into your Browser’s address text box and pressing the Enter key or the GO button: http://www.keepandshare.com/calendar/show_month.php?i=650542

Just a thought from bash, a not so recent graduate of the University of Washington's engineering school back in the late 60's.....would it be better to move the 300' fence out 20' to reach the desired 320' or would it be easier just to move home plate back 20' against the backstop? LOL
