Joe. Here are a few quotes that may or may not have some relevance to some of the discussions taking place on this message board.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people are so full of doubts.
-- Bertrand Russell

Stay away from the little people who try to belittle your ambitions, small people will always do that; big people can help you become great.
-- Mark Twain

The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.

In Senior Softball you can’t win without having a GREAT catcher behind the plate.

PHX Worlds 2008:

Hey Joe R.

You remember of course, comedian Bill Saluga who was famous for a ditty that he made up and performed
on many TV variety shows way back in the late 70s. A zoot-suited character named= Raymond J. Johnson Jr. would appear and If you called him "Johnson," he launched into a tirade!

Well, you can call me Joe, or you can call me Rinaldi, or you can call me J.R, or you can call me Frank, or you can call me einstein... but ya doesn't hafta call me Frank-einstein!! LOL I hope.

Joe. Ruth 60’s will be right next door on field #3 Friday in PHX @11:00am & 2:00pm for our two RR grams. I see you Old A’s are on field #2 @11:00am & 12:30pm. I will try and pull one foul onto you field just for fun! I’ll be over to take some photos so make certain you look like Einstein that day with the hair going for ya, and not like Eisenhower.

See ya in Phoenix…

Discussion: Looking for a end cap for my Combat

Bashbro1 here and I can commiserate with your experience. I’ve had the very same problamo with the Silver Combat 13" barrel with the end-cap flying out to the shortstop. Many times I get accused of possibly altering the bat! I have never had the end cap fly off of the 10” barrel RED Senior Combat Da_Bomb I must say. Remains to be seen what happens with the NEW Mike Mecenko Signature bats.

You can order end-caps from this link but I’ve never tried one:

Our Pacific Northwest Senior Softball adds another great tournament being held for the first time this coming Sept. 6th and 7th. The PNW has experienced a dearth of good tournaments to choose from in the month of Sept. in the past, that are local, and this looks like a good one to help prepare teams for the SSUSA Worlds in Oct.

Hey Joe! I receive a similar charge (or epiphany...Def#) from drinking from my toilet as the Greeks got from their Pieran Spring water!! LOL

Def#, From Dictionary Dot Com:
Epiphany: a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.

Ruby, don't take your love to town or to home plate for that matter unless you're sure you make it!

Bashbro1 submits that we start calling, what is currently referred to as the runner’s “commitment” line or point of no returning to the previous base mainly between 3rd and home, form this point forward as the “Ruby” line from the word “Rubicon”.

I’m certain that Joe ‘einstein’, will be with me on this arcane/superfluous nonsense matter.

From Dictionary Dot Com:
----------------------------------------
Rubicon: A limit that when passed or exceeded means a no return and resulting in irrevocable commitment. A river with historical significance in Northern Italy flowing East into the Adriatic, ~15 mi. (24 km) long; while crossing this ancient boundary between Cisalpine Gaul and Italy, to march against Pompey in 49 b.c., Julius Caesar made a major military commitment to cross or pass the “Rubicon”, i.e. to take a decisive, irrevocable and irreversible step past the river bank!

Joe! One of our Barista's Senior Softball Video gals got the ax! Yep, Heather, the cute one, was caught working at another location with only pasties and a bikini bottom on by Karen the other of the main joint. Karen was outraged at such behavior. Needless to say I'm now a regular @ the scantily clad place!

Discussion: Flip-Flop Rule

Hey check this version of the flip-pity-flop-pity (the pity rule) rule that happened to me in a tournament in Northeastern Washington state a few years ago. Not only did the umpire invoked the rule before the “open” inning (this case end of the 5th inning), the home team (us) was ahead 15-5 not the visitors, which meant we lost a time at bat and the kicker was the Ump allowed “6” outs in their one turn at bat without clearing the bases as he thought that was the rule to save time and allow them to catch up like a catch-up-rule!!!

We (the home team) not only lost a time at bat, and we never really flip-flopped cause we batted in the bottom of the 7th just as the home team would anyway, but NOT in the bat in the bottom of the 6th. The visitor was able to score 9 runs in the 6th and 7th innings combined with 6 outs and since we fell behind in the 7th we only got 3 outs to catch up but lost the game by one run 18-17 in a quarter final game.

Box score:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
--------------------
0 1 1 2 1 4 5 18
5 0 5 3 2 x 2 17

Discussion: **** Revised ***** NEED 60'S MAJOR “TYPE” PLAYERS NOW!

Looking for immediate help with our 60’s roster that has been decimated with injuries to finish out our 2008 commitments and to field a full team for next season. Need 2 or 3 guys at a minimum right away that want to play “Major-Type” (above AAA level) Senior Softball team, 60’s division, located in the Pacific Northwest region.

Skills:
Must be able to run for yourself, preferably good base running speed and defensive skills. No DH’s or catchers need apply, we have plenty. Either infielders or outfielders or pitchers are welcomed as we can move people around for the best fit.

Should be able to hit for good average, say above the .650 mark and .700 would be ideal. Also must have some semblance of reasonable power is required but you don’t have to be a bomb squad guy by any means.

Some nominal monetary help is provided by our sponsor to players for each of the 5 or 6 major tournament trips to far away venues requiring air travel.

taits...I don't think we get all of the Canadian Provinces but I do believe that Terry H. said we could claim all of the Tundra regions.

Washington state can draw from: British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and the Yukon tundra region.

Washington State cannot draw from: Ontario, Toronto, Quebec, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Alberta, or Edmonton
