MN26 give Bill A call as Nancy suggested. He can put you in contact with several people and team's in the 50 & 55 groups. Team's are always looking for players in that area. They also have senior leagues in the twin cities if you live there and they are always looking for more players as well.

Hey surf88, are you out of Florida for the year? If so, sorry we couldn't hook up for some fishing during your stay here. I had to take some time off for an injury the last month, so was vacant from the fields and action. Will catch up with you next time around. Good Luck in Reno. Safe travels back west!

The Qualifier in Vadnais Heights is a TOC event. It will be the first TOC qualifying event for this tournament and should draw several teams as it's the first one in the Midwest this year. Hope to see a large turnout.

Discussion: Determining Seeding

I noticed a problem in the 50 Major division as well. If scores were posted correctly, there were 11 teams that finished 2-0 in seeding play. Two teams that finished 1-1 were seeded #1 and #2. Not sure how that worked out on the bracket. The team that should have been #1 seed was #4, The #2 seed was the #9 Seed, The #3 seed was correct, The #4 seed was the #5 seed. So if I looked at this correctly, it should have broken down differently. I know directors are under a lot of pressure to get scores posted correctly and timely as teams are crowding around to find the results. But that isn't the time to make a mistake. Best to take the extra time and get it right. All in all, each team must win regardless of who they play during the tournament. Great job with the tournament overall! My second year there, and I will be back for next years event.

Discussion: 1 and 1 pitch count

I'm a pitcher, who plays in the Midwest, Minnesota to be exact, and favor the 1-1 count. As a batter I hit the first good pitch that come across the plate. I'm not putting myself in the position to hit a bad pitch by having two strikes whether I'm playing with a pitch count that's 1-1 or 0-0. The real issue is hustling on and off the field, and getting your courtesy runners out quickly! We just finished the Vegas tournament and the courtesy runner issue and getting them in play was ridiculously slow against the teams we played. We've all been around and playing long enough to know how to hustle and should know ahead of time who should be running for who when that time comes. That's my two cents!

I like the thought process Boog3434. Instead of three areas playing for the "National" championship why don't we break it into North, South, East and West regions. Then play a double elimination tournament to get the winning teams.

Discussion: Public Forum VS Anonymity

I appreciate the feedback 4x4. For the record, I didn't take any offense to the credibility issue, it's going to be on everyone's mind when they see first time posters as who they are and what do they know. I can see where it could come into question and from what little time I have been on these posts I see what goes with the faux post you refer to. I still feel that a person should be given the benefit of doubt until they have proven themselves less than credible.

As far as the bat post, I put the information out because I thought people would like to hear about my experience with a new bat on the market. If I violated any policy of the website I apologize for that. I thought I was putting it out in the right format and forum.

I would also like to see names when posts come out, also what team a person is affiliated with, and where in the country they play. It would sure make it easier to connect with fellow players and put a face to the name when you are in town for a game or tournament. I look forward to meeting new people every time I get out to play! Might as well start a new trend with names now that I put this to paper.

I'm Scott Sanford, live in Minnesota, play for Ancell 55 major. I'm also the new Minnesota State Director for Senior Softball. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the fields!

Discussion: Public Forum VS Anonymity

My question to the "Public Forum VS Anonymity" is what basis do you use to establish credibility? If the person does or doesn't enter their information does this make them credible or non-credible? I ran into this a few months ago on one of my post's. Was called out in regards to credibility, didn't have any personal information posted, so in some eyes I didn't have any credibility. My reply was that even if I had posted that information did it make me more credible, after all you still don't know me or anything about me. Fortunately, some people who knew me, posted on my behalf, my credibility. Made me feel good, but still the issue remains that if you don't know the person, how can you say they are credible or not? Call it naïve on my part, but I give credibility to everyone until they do something to prove me wrong.

@Corky - Is there an approved bat list for SSUSA or other Senior Associations that is available for viewing to find out if bats are approved for play, or do they just have to have the Senior Softball stamp as called for in the adopted rules for equipment in the 2013-2014 rule book? Your question made me look for an answer, and I haven't found anything pertaining to this except in the rule book.

I have had some experience with the Monsta Fossil senior bat. I have posted information about my experience with this bat in other posts. IMO this bat is every bit as good as any other senior bat on the market. My Reebok was my game bat, now it's my back up bat. My Fossil, now has over 600 hits on it in just over a month I've had it. I let anyone who wants to hit with it to do so. Everyone who has given it an honest, unbiased try, has been impressed with the bat. I believe that speaks volumes for the bat. Several people, who were dedicated Miken, Combat, and Reebok enthusiasts, have already told me they ordered thier own Fossil now.

Does this mean it's the best bat out there, only time will tell if that for sure. For me, I will continue to use the Fossil until something else comes out that performes as well, feels as good, and lasts as long from the durability I've seen so far. Just my opinion, from my experience only. Hope this helps to answer your question somewhat.

Swing, I know the Monsta Fossil has been a great senior bat for me. Over 600 hits so far and has a ton of pop in it! I am in Minnesota and have played inside a dome all winter with temps around 60 degrees. The Fossil has worked fabulous and proved to be durable here so far. So if the Z-bra, with the FIB design, is made for guys with great power and bat speed to be durable, then I would give it a go if you are one of those big power guys. You could then post your reviews of this bat for everyone.

Taits, I didn't call out any distances in my post, only number of hits on the bat. The cracks I mentioned happened around the 400-450 hit range. As far as distances the ball travels when I hit it, in the 310-330 range consistently, on occassion when the sun, moon and stars line up a little longer. Like you said though, what goes over is good enough.

Discussion: Monsta Fossil

Time for a new update on my Fossil. one month in use now and over 600 hits on the bat and it's still going strong. It really started showing the horizontal stress cracks about the 400-450 hit range. There are a couple of spots where the paint has started to chip off now. Also noticed a spot where the barrel and taper meet that appears to be 2 cracks forming at a 45 degree angles(shape of a V)to its length. They are about an 1-1/2 inch long, most of the crack is on the taper. It doesn't seem to have affected the performance though. Still hitting exceptionally well!!! I still continue to let everyone hit with it that wants to use it. Will keep everyone posted until it fails.

Taits,
Thanks for clarifying your BP post. I understand where you're coming from and should have been a little more in depth with my comment like I will for this post. I certainly didn't mean for it to come across the way it did, now that I read it again today. I also use it for the same purpose with the dimension of situational hitting thrown in as well. I think about runners on base and then look for pitches to hit. I look for the outside pitches to drive the other way and practice hitting the holes. I have a bit of power and also practice the home run swing. When I get that perfected, I'll let you know how I did it, but don't look for it any time soon, LOL! I know that most times you don't get game type pitches to swing at in BP so that poses a problem in itself. Our team is fortunate, I'm a pitcher, so when I toss BP I give them good pitches to hit and also mix in curves, knucklers, balls with backspin, moving them around the plate during thier at bat. It keeps me practicing my skill set, and gives them some game pitches as well. It has worked good for us, and I don't mind throwing BP for everyone. For me personally, I don't use machines if I can help it. Really seems to screw up my hitting.

Discussion: Monsta Athletics Senior Bats

Hey guys, Just to clear a little air and some concern about who I am and more on the Monsta bat.
First - I have absolutely no connection what so ever with anything or anyone at Monsta Athletics, no relations, no friends, no phone numbers, nothing at all.
Second - HJ and Crusher, I can appreciate your input about not having my identity in order to create credibility. There is no info for me because I just signed up the day I posted the information and I didn't get that far to put the information about me in it. Even if I would have that information provided, it still wouldn't give me any credibility, because it's my first year playing senior ball and no one outside of the winter league I've been playing in knows me so it would be a mute point anyway. People who know me can attest to my ability, as a couple already have as I've seen on this thread.
Third - Thanks AZTOMC (who I just met at my first tournament), Your team has a bunch of great guys on it, look forward to seeing you all in the future, best of luck to you all! MNMASTER38, who I know personally from our winter ball, thanks for your input, not sure I deserve the kind words, but I'll take it none the less. Looking forward to playing on the summer team with you!
Fourth - Taits, I agree with situational performance on the field 100% However, if you aren't treating your batting practice as such, what's the sense in taking any. I'm using that bat during those session with the same situational performance in mind with every swing I take. I'm intentionally using this bat to get the numbers up on it to see what it has in the long run. I also continue to let other swing it as well during BP. My next bat, will be in the bag for game use only like most players.
Fifth - 5ToolsinOhio, it has the big knob on it.
We played three more games today. Seven players swung that bat for all three games and a round of batting practice before we got started, some power hitters, some singles hitters, and that bat is still producing, over 400 hits now!
I'm not trying to sell this product to anyone, all I'm doing is putting information out there that is factual. You all can chose to do with it what you want. Like I said before, this bat fits my needs perfectly, but the durability question is still unanswered, so I will continue to let it be a sacrificial lamb and let anyone who want to swing it to do so to see how far it goes till failure. I will continue to post as I have, hopefully this information is helpful. I look forward in my travels and playing time in the upcoming year, but more importantly, meeting everyone who plays this great game, best of luck to everyone this year!!!

Hi Everyone. I'm new to Senior Softball this year and am playing with a 55 major team. I'm having a great time I might add, super group of people I've been in contact with and played against over the last 8 months!!! I bought one of the Monsta Senior "Fossil" one piece bats about two weeks ago. I've been using it indoors during our winter league play and just returned from AZ playing a tournament. I have over 300 hits on this bat and in my opinion, it performs everybit as well if not better then the well known senior bats currently on the market. I took a chance and spent the $180 to see what it was all about. I will tell you that I've only hit the 44/375 Trump Stote balls with it, and I can assure you the ball jumps off this bat! So good in fact, that I put my Reebok in my bag and it is now my back up bat. Don't sell a new product short until you give it a fair shot. If you are a power guy, you won't be dissapointed. If you are a line drive hitter, I believe you will be very satisfied as well. I can only speak for myself, but if the bat holds up and keeps the same performance, I'll be a long time customer!
