Discussion: Home Run rule?

Heh BB!! We also are checking with the ump to see what he/she requires for the same reason. Am also wondering, as I have seen this happen too, is it a 4 base award if the ball hits the ground first then deflects off of the outfielder and goes over the wall in fair territory?

In the situation of a four-base-award ruling, does the player who hit the ball have to touch any base? This situation amazingly has come up twice in recent tournaments our team has been in and the ruling as to what bases the player who hit the ball had to touch was different and in one instance the umpire said that the player had to touch all 4 bases. This specific detail does not seem to be in the rule book as far as I can tell.

TOMAR77- Well said and think it applies to all teams, be they from AA unsponsored to Major Plus fully sponsored. It is also something that one team should not belittle another team for the manner in which they do it.

IMO, there is no right or wrong answer to how many people to bat in a game. It is something that each individual team needs to decide and whatever that decision is-it is one that should have the support of the team.

Al T-

We are a partially sponsored 55 Major Plus team. We have 15 players on our roster. We have played in 8 tournaments thus far this year and have been in the championship game in all but 1(winning 5) We have batted everyone in every single game we have played(seeding & elimination games)without exception.

Would very much like to get an idea of what 55Major+ teams plan on attending the West. Nat'l Championships in Salt Lake City Aug 7-9.

Our team, the OLR Nighthawks, plans on attending provided there are other teams going that are in our age group/classification

Dbax: fast double-click on back button works. this is much better, IMO, than the other above mentioned solutions

my pull down menus work OK shane; but i do have another frustrating problem and that is that whenever i download a pdf. file of any kind from the SSUSA website(roster form, field assignments, etc), i can not go back to anything on the website-it is a dead end; to get back to the website I have to close the pdf. file and then relog onto the website; I find this frustrating and something that I have not encountered on any other website with downloadable pdf. files-when you close you go back to the point on the website where you downloaded the pdf.file

BB-

What's up big guy(77)! Been awhile since I have seen ya. Doing OK-have sorta gotten myself into a vicious cycle of injury-rehab-injury-rehab the past few years but am getting through it. We are hopeful for a good season also. We lost Ronnie Hansen and 4 others who aged up and 3 people who went to other teams. The remaining 8 guys (including myself, Don Crenshaw, Buzz Wheeler, Jim Day & Bob Looney) merged with 7 guys from Evolution who aged up. Buzz, Donnie Crenshaw, Jim Day and myself will be eligible to age up in 2010 and probably will. Imagine you will be at that point too pretty soon if not already.

Tommy Hahaj moved to NC and as far as I know is not playing softball. Steve Chavez is playing for D&K-60's. John Maples is playing for SoCal Braves-60's. Bob Weirich and Tommy Beard both are no longer playing. That's pretty much an update of the former Top Gun Shuttermart/Stoneage guys.

What team are you playing for these days? Will keep an eye out for ya at the big tournaments.

Discussion: A different DOB structure

the DBO rule at Menifee this past weekend was as Taits has stated and was called on our team at leaast 4 or 5 times in 5 games . The majority of times the ball never even tourched the pitcher yet the batter was out and in one instance it was a double play and the ball never touched the piticher. No question this was a differenr rule that most ,if not all, of those playing had not encountered before. I think one should keep in mind that this was not a SSUSA event/qualifier. The was a locally sponsonred tournament and the rule was one of those strange but true rules that the local rec league employs.

It was a little hard to take for balls that did not even tourch the pitcher, but in fairness to the guys putting on the tournament it did seem in our games that they were consistent in their enforcement of the rule

A team named Travel-Lodge from Indiana placed 2nd in the 50 Major division at the LVSSA Worlds just last weekend. Am guessing they must also have a 55AAA team.
